Acer 6930 - Ethernet Connection Keeps Dropping?
Aug 22, 2011My ethernet connection keeps dropping and the only way to restore connectivity is to restart my laptop. It says "no internet access" and the connection remains even if I remove the cable. If I try disconnecting in Network and Sharing center it just keeps saying "attempting to disconnect".
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate on an Acer 6930 laptop.

May 21, 2012When I ran a reset to factory settings of my acer aspire one netbooks which runs windows 7 I no longer have a wireless connection option at all. I have done this before and never lost my ability to connect wirelessly. I tried to look for driver downloads but I'm not even sure what it is I need to do to recover the missing program as it was a original factory program.

Apr 4, 2011I have an Acer Desktop Aspire AM3100 running Windows 7 Ultimate. I upgraded my memory. When I turned the PC back on I had lost my whole home network and cannot get internet acces back. I have checked my modem by direct connecting it to my laptop. I have checked my linksys box by doing the same. I can see the linksys on my laptop but cannot access the internet. On my desktop I get nothing?The home network and internet access all disappeared when I upgraded memory.

Feb 17, 2011I have owned my Acer Aspire 6920 for about a year. Today, it will not access the internet on our wireless setup. The other computers in the house aren't having a problem getting on the web. This has happened once before, but I can't remember exactly how I fixed it at that time, naturally. The blinking light on the right side of the keyboard that indicates the network adaptor and modem are working isn't blinking today. It is a solid light. I have tried rebooting, shutting down for a while, etc., with no luck.

Dec 6, 2011A week ago this laptop was working fine. However, now it will not connect via wireless to the internet. It says that it connects to the router but not the internet. I can connect to the internet if I use the wired LAN connection. I tried a restore to two weeks ago (when it was working) and it did not solve the problem. I do see in the wireless network connection status that IPv4 connectivity = local and IPv6 connectivity = local. While on another laptop (that is working and connects to the same wireless router) the IPv4 = internet and IPv6 = no network access. I think this may be the issue, but am unable to find out how to change them.
OS = MS Vista Home SP2.

Oct 28, 2012I have been having this problem with limited access with my internet. I have deleted mcafee, norton, photoshop, applications etc. I have restored the system to a previous date. I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses. I have an Acer Aspire with Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. I only have wireless as I am sharing my internet and therefore can't test it with an Ethernet cable. I cannot switch on and off the modem box either. I have this limited access which disappears by itself after a few minutes. Then it comes back again. I disable the wireless and enable it again which solves the problem for only a few minutes. I have checked my ip which is 192.168.1.20 with submask of 255 something - which I don't think is the problem.At last, I have switched to Safe mode with Networking but even in this mode I still have limited access. The internet connection keeps cutting off and on all the time.

Jun 27, 2011I purchased a new Acer 5742G-6600 from Newegg about 2 weeks ago.When using my wireless connection, I am randomly dropped, then reconnected to the internet. This effects gaming (constantly disconnected from WOW after maybe 2 or 3 minutes) and streaming video. I can connect directly to the router or modem by cable and the issue never occurs. My girlfriends laptop is able to connect to the wireless connection with no issue. We also had a friend over on his laptop, and he had no issue with the wireless connection.I have uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi card drivers (Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter), disabled the power management features, and updated Win 7 64-bit.

I connect to my home wifi network and will have excellent signal strength, but after about 20 minutes or so, I will lose internet access, but will stay connected to my wifi network. If I join my neighbor's wifi network I will have the same issue.I will connect to a network, and while still connected, I will suddenly lose internet access (signal strength will remain the same). Switching networks doesn't correct the problem.
When I lose internet, I can disconnect from the network and reconnect mere seconds later and will have the internet access back again.I have reset the modem/router and my computer numerous times but the problem does not go away.

After being on for about 16 hours if I login to the device all the settings appear to have been reset to default, although the access point and wireless are still working. After another few hours the internet access stops and device appears to have been reset. No power spikes or reliability problems with power. Contacted Linksys support on three different occasions and they don't have any suggestions that work. Tried a "hard reset" but problem still occurs. No firmware upgrades are available for this device.
