The problem i am experiencing is that on my home network i have been using for several years now one computer on my network suddenly cannot get online..however it can connect. They determined that all is working well and all settings are as they should be. I then contacted my ISP, Cox communications and was essentially told the same thing. This is after going through several tests with each, such as ping tests, turning the gateway off/on, reviewing settings such as TCP/IP, DNS, etc, etc. The findings were that i have IP addresses and everything else that should be there. Ive turned off the firewall, disabled antivirus, reset tcp/ip stack and winsock. I have been working on this for two days and after paying for it still do not have it fixed. The computer acts as it normally does, no other problems except that when i press the IE icon to open a browser window it tries to go to my homepage, google, but then reverts to the "page cannot be displayed screen". This computer is running XP SP2 and is a wired connection(although it was wireless when i first experienced the problem because i have a network adapter installed as well..but i disabled it and enabled my LAC and used the ethernet cable because this is one of the exercises cisco ahd me perform to see if i could connect wired/wirelessly.. better bandwidth anyway at 100mbps compared to the 56mbps with the wireless-g adapter). The othe computer is a laptop running windows 7.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to find where to select between the different encryption types (TKIP or AES), I see the info on page 87 of the product manual, but this doesn't match what I see in the Manual Wireless Network Setup screen. You can select WPA Personal (in Security Mode), but there are no further panels below it to select encryption types and enter the PSK. Compare page 30 to page 87. There are extra panels on 87 that don't appear on 30, and I can't find a way to access them while accessing the router.I've got the unit set up and running; works fine with my wireless laptop. It's just that I need to be able to switch between things in order to troubleshoot a setup with an internet radio I'm trying to get running (Grace Digital, which apparently doesn't do 802.11n, only up to g).

The live video is OK from MyDlink, but when I log on to the cameras from "Advanced Settings" the live video is just a black screen, no matter what video profile I select. View 5 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I sent my ISP an email and a few days later they called my house and talked to my mom about the support issues I had addressed with slow speeds. They directed her to www.att.com/speedtest and our internet speed was reading 6MB/s down and 512kb/upload as it should be.The problem is, outside that test I am not seeing the performance. Let me put it to you like this, right now the internet is so slow that Speedtest.net consistently gets errors when trying to connect for a test. Any website that isnt text based like say Reddit, takes ages to load. Youtube videos? Streams? Forget about those, 240p buffers as slow as 720p.When I finally manage to get Speedtest.net to do a test after numerous internet resets I barely crack 1MB/s down IF AT ALL, and .12kb/s upload IF AT ALL.
Its maddening. Its actually affecting my siblings college work as their online tests have been failed due to disconnecting.Something I should have mentioned earlier is that I do have a router. Its a Linksys WRT54GS with the latest firmware. Something that is also annoying is that when I plug my internet directly into my computer, it wont work, but if its plugged through the router it works just fine. This has never happened and its making me draw a blank.AT&T support suggested the we upgrade our Modem to one of the newer ones that are a modem/wireless router combo which we plan on doing. Right now we have a Speed stream 4100 that weve had since we got the internet in 2006 and I guess they don't even make them anymore.
2Wire 2700HG-E-Gateway is my main modem supplied by my ISP)from there it branches off to two seperate areas.Section One consists of 2 wireless connect laptops, both Vista, and one hardwired desktop, XP. All of these can see eachother and share files, printers and run just peachy.Section Two is hardwired straight from the 2Wire 2700HG-E-Gateway over to a Linksys router, WRT54G. From this router i have a destktop computer, XP, a xbox 360, and a ps3 all hardwired into it. All 3 of these devices can find and interact with eachother. They all connect and run internet fine also.Now my question is, how can i make my section 2 units be discoverable by section one and vise versa? I have fiddled with settings in my linksys settings but i just cant get it to work. Currently the linksys is set to gateway instead of router, i thought it would be an easy fix and change it to router but when i do that i lose internet on all section 2 devices. Now i have a basic understanding of networking but when it starts getting into changing numbers and ips and subnet and that stuff i get lost.

It all started with my internet just kind of dying (mostly in the eavnings) and not working until i rebooted the router. So I call my internet provider and they tell me to update firmware and to plug the internet straight into my computer instead to rule out everything at their end.After some time I manage to update firmware. Problem with internet sill remain but is not as frequent. I left it like that for a couple of weeks, but earlier this week i checked my connection speed and it says i have only 50mb/s after the firmware update. Since i had the weekend off I plugged the internet straight into my computer and get my full internet speed at about 90mb/s. After plugging in the router again I only get around 50 again.

If I plug my cable modem right through to the computer, the upload velocity it's 800k indeed.
But when I access the internet through the router plugged on the cable modem, the velocity drops down to 400K.
That is a big problem for play games like fifa. I have a huge delay on the commands and I think that it's caused for the low upload velocity.
I'm a Cisco newbie and I'm in the following situation:
1>The router (867) must connect to my ISP in 1483 bridged (2684 bridged) mode, LLC, VPI/VCI 0/35
2>WAN IP will be assigned by ISP (DHCP)
3>No username and password required to establish the connection
4>MAC-Cloning is advised, not required
5>Firewall behind 867, WAN IP should be assigned to WAN interface firewall, connection established by 867
6>867 router will be used as a switch, so no NAT required. NAT will be setup on the firewall
7>Connection type: Analog (annex A)
The required setup can be fixed by configuring the 867 in half-bridged mode, but I don't no how and I don't know exactly how to config the 867 in bridged mode.
First, it's even hard to setup a good bridged config.

I have an old metal-walled mobile home that I plan on converting to a combination shop and man-cave; it's about 200 feet from my home's computer room, where I have a Netgear WNDR3400 wireless-n router. The only place in the trailer where I can "see" my home network is the kitchen window, and I thought about putting a Wi-Fi repeater there to extend the home network into the trailer. But I have read that using a repeater will cut the network's Wi-Fi throughput in half -- which would not please my wife and daughters back at the house. Is there a simple, relatively inexpensive way to extend the network to the trailer without slowing everything down? Eventually I may have Charter install a separate cable hookup there, which would allow a separate high-speed Internet connection too. For now, I just want to "share" Wi-Fi to the trailer.

I plugged directly into the isp's adtran with my laptop and I can hit 10/10 consistently. Not sure what's causing the ASA to get half upload speed. I set the interface speed and duplex to 100/full so I set it back to auto/auto. Thoughts? See config below. We aren't doing any QoS on it.

Anyway, a glaring, and obnoxious problem I am having is everytime I load a page for the router(192.168.1.1), it does not completely load and I have to hit refresh.Now when I try to change the router settings from DHCP to PPPoE, it reloads the page, for whatever reason, and because this router wants to be irritating, it only half loads the page, so I cannot click the "save settings" button.This is what has been done to the router after being reset(red button on the back held in for 10 sec):I turned on the modem, and plugged directly in to make sure I had internet connection.I plugged the modem's ethernet into the "Internet" port on the wireless router.And finally, I plug an ethernet cable from my computer to the 1st port on the wireless router.Nothing else has been changed. I have not turned on any ridiculous settings. This half-loading router pages is driving me up the wall though. I cannot even troubleshoot the wireless connectivity because I cannot make any changes.

I have a egenious ap/bridge model EOC2611P that is linked to my home network at my shop to my house. I have internet through the cat5 cable coming out of the bridge but having issues connecting that to the other wirless router. The second router is a linksys e1000. I live out in bfe so no network security seince my closest neighbor is a little over a mile away. I have dissabled DCHP on the linksys and thats where my knowledge stops. I am in the next room from my study and around <10 ft away from the modem in the study. However today the internet was extremely slow for everyone in the house so I went to reset the modem. After resetting the modem I noticed that the internet speed went a bit up and so I used speedtest.net to see how fast the connection was in the study. The computer in the study is connected with a ethernet cable to the modem. I was amazed that the speed in the study was nearly double the amount. I understand that wireless connections are undoubtedly slower than a wired connection, but is it normal for the speed to drop by half when I am <10 ft away from the modem?

So I live in Ireland and im on Smart telecom ISP, Basicly the internet is half going - like skype is going and i can chat with my contacts, cisco.com page is going but really SLOW, google.com page is going until search, speedtest.net page is going until the mesure thing facebook loads like in 10min.. a lot of pages dosent even go...From main telephone socket to the router is only 2.5m telephone cable(NO HOME PHONE) so no splitter or extension... (Changing the MTU dosent change anything...only if i set it on auto then w7 shows that internet is connected, skype works but no pages at all is loading and is dropping with timeout error.. if i set to manual then something loads on pages...) The cisco connect software does NOT do good because I can go until the username/pasword step, I input THE CORRECT details but he just sayes that he cant authenticate the username & pasw... and so i cant get past that step and the programm is no good.... only way is to set up with 192.168.1.1!

I recently made an old router into a repeater by using DD-WRT. It seems to be working fine if I use LAN, but I cannot get WLAN to function properly. When I go to add a virtual interface and all the proper info, I all of a sudden cannot connect to the Internet. More specifically it seems to not assign me an IP address.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on a point to point internet connection that is rated at 2mbps. With my PC connected directly to the modem or through an old Airlink101 (model AR680W) router typical DL speeds are 1.9 to 2.4 mbps. However the Airlink router has to be reset 2 to 3 times per day.
I am trying to replace this router, however every router I've tried cuts the download speed in half (about 0.9 to 1.3 mbps). So far I've tried two Ultra Speed wireless N routers; two D-Link DIR 615's; and one Linksys E1200. When I talk to their tech support after testing they say that the routers must be faulty, but what are the odds of getting 5 bad routers from 3 different manufactures.
My IP does not know of any compatability issues with any routers.
