Versalink 327W - Cannot Connect Via Wireless Router
Jan 21, 2011Running an HP a1210n desktop with Win xp sp2, ie7, with Verizon DSL internet through a Westell Versalink 327W router. We have three laptops in the house that can all get to the web just fine. On the desktop I reinstalled windows about two months ago after a virus attack, and although i've had intermitten web access, it's spotty. Now I'm unable to connect at all. When I open IE7, the home page (google.com) hangs, status bar takes about 2 min. to get halfway, then it displays the "IE cannot display webpage" screen.I followed the instructions on that page for "diagnose connection problems".

Dec 30, 2011I have a Westell VersaLink Model 327W router that is linked to two desktops, one with Windows 7 and one with XP. Our internet speed was recently increased, and ever since that happened the connection cuts out randomly and sometimes when the phone rings. After noticing the link to phone calls, I tested the connection by calling the phone to see if I could replicate the problem. However, the internet did not disconnect when I called the phone myself. On the Windows 7 desktop, the taskbar says no internet access when the connection disconnects. Strangely, Windows 7's default Troubleshoot Problems restores the connection every time. The disconnects are still extremely frustrating because they cause me to lose any online game I am playing at the time. I am not completely sure about the symptoms on the XP computer because it is not mine and I am rarely on it; however, I believe it normally reconnects after a few minutes on its own. We also have laptops that are connected wirelessly to our network. I have noticed that they tend to also lose internet access, although the taskbar does not indicate any problems. I am reluctant to believe that the problem lies in my router or ISP because the disconnects began when our internet was upgraded. I have searched the internet for fixes, but so far I have found nothing.

May 24, 2012I have a Westel model 327W for my DSL service. I received it from my internet provider (Bellsouth). I recently purchased a Cisco E1000 router for what I though was a easy connect. For two days off and on I have tried to connect them but I have not been able. I'm not very computer smart but I do know the basics. I have managed to cripple one desktop and a laptop that had wireless or ethernet to the point the system tells me they are not equiped with wireless cards and my wireless range on the computer I'm typing on is about 5 feet. Jun 5, 2011Within the last 6 months, I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C655 running Windows 7. When I take it to my summer house, I can connect wirelessly initially to a Westell VersaLink model# B90-327W15-06 router, but by the end of the first day I lose my connection and cannot connect unless I direct cable to modem. When I return home, it works fine again. The next time I visited my summer house, the same thing has happened. I worked with my IP support tech to try and resolve this issue to no avail. My husband's MACbook has no problem connecting wirelessly. The IP support tech had me enter the router's IP address to acess the router. When the Westell screen came up, no matter what menu option I clicked on the screen did not respond. My IP support person suggested I download firmware from the Westell site.I am not sure what to download - is it 'triggering' or 'forwarding' firmware?

May 1, 2013I recently installed some wireless IP cameras and when attempting to re-install a camera I went into the DHCP Client table to verify which IP a camera was using to set it up, but I could not...and still cannot see any of my cameras in the table even though I can access three of them directly through the IE web browser. I initially power cycled both the E4200 router and Motorola cable modem, and then later just the wireless router...but I still do not see the devices connected. I currently have 2.0.37 firmware even though I was told by Cisco support that there was a later version available, just before being informed that I do not have support available and could purchase it. I attempted to locate a newer version, but the online upgrade portion of the Cisco Connect software searched the net and then states that I have the latest version available. I also opened a Firefox browser to see if maybe my browser was causing issues, but the same limited table appears without all entries available. I even opened the Cisco Connect software on another laptop with the same limited results. Other than a factory reset, get me E4200 dual band wireless router to show all attached devices through the DHCP Client table as it previously did approximately two weeks ago?

Jul 18, 2011Have a 400N wireless router that has been working fine with several wireless devices on a small home network for about a year. Nothing has been changed but suddenly all of the wireless wireless devices dropped offline and none see the network signal in their search to reconnect. All of the indicator lights on the router look good and I have unplugged power and reconnected first the cable modem and then the router but still no signal. Logging into the router seems to show that it is working OK but there is apparently no air signal for the client devices to detect so only the wired devices are showing up. It's as if everything is working except the antenna function. Are there any suggestions short of uninstalling and reinstalling the whole set up and see what happens? I have taken my laptop to a nearby hotspot and confirmed that it is receiving other network signals fine so it has to be something to do with the router itself.

Firmware version V1.2.2.44_35.0.53NA.When I connect using g I get 22+Mbps download speed. When I connect using n I get 10 Mbps. I've tried using both WPA2 only (laptop reports 130 Mbps connection I believe) as well as the combo WPA+WPA2 (laptop reports connection of 117 Mbps).Broadband download results don't change - they stay at the 10 Mbps level. I've fiddled with some of the settings on my laptop's wireless card - but the results are the same.For now I'm just trying to figure out where I should focus my investigation and fiddling efforts - on the laptop or on the router.

Dec 28, 2012I have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

Hardware is E1000 v2 according to sticker on back.The firmware update failed (no reason given) and the router now hangs in limbo where all it does is flashing the power LED.I set my PC to 19?2.168.1.2 and TFTP'd the firmware over to 192.168.1.1 - no errors reported and 192.168.1.1 is pingable. Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.

Jun 26, 2012I installed an IP camera, and had to change my E1000 router settings to a static IP address. Now I can't access the router settings. 192.168.1.1 is still the default gateway, but it won't open in any browser.
I'm reluctant to do a reset because it took me quite a while to figure out how to get the IP camera and port forwarding working (it does!), and I'd hate to do it all again and come to the same place. I'm not very good at this stuff, and it's a small miracle that I did it once.

Nov 12, 2011My home computer accesses the Internet through an ADSL modem and a phone line. I added a wired router (Linksys BEFSR41).I've since bought a laptop computer, an iPhone4 and a wireless router (Linksys WRT160N).Again, on the advice of a friend, I ADDED the wireless router, so now have two routers connected.The devices are connected as follows:
-Wall jack to ADSL modem
-ADSL modem to BEFSR41
-BEFSR41 to WRT160N
-WRT160N to desktop computer.
As I understand Linksys routers, the default IP address for ALL Linksys routers is 192.168.1.1.Both the iPhone4 and the laptop are unable to connect to the wireless router.I'm assuming the two routers are conflicting with each other, so I thought I would remove the wired router..Can I change the IP address of the BEFSR41 router from 192.168.1.2?
Would this resolve the conflict between the two routers and allow the wireless devices to "see" the wireless router? What's the correct procedure for removing the BEFSR41 router from the system?

I know I can completely block access of a website and can restrict the viewing hours of facebook at certain times through the router admin IP site but was wondering if it was possible to make it so you have to use a password to view said certain site.
