Any Routers That Can Log Network Traffic

Apr 26, 2012

Are there any routers out there that allow for traffic logging? I'm not just looking for URLs, but I want to capture the actual traffic (filtering down of course for specific key words, etc...)

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - ProtectLink Enabled To Filter Out Various Categories From Network Traffic

Jun 29, 2012

I have upgraded to the new RV042G to take advantage of the gigabit Ethernet speeds and to prepare for when our ISP upgrades our bandwidth. I currently use the RV042 with Protect Link enabled to filter out various categories from our network traffic. I noticed that this feature is not included with the RV042G.

Is this something Cisco will decide to add back in later? In the meantime, how to block content on the network? The basic URL and keyword filter will not meet our needs, since it is much easier to let a service such as Trend Micro manage what is blocked in the categories they offer.

Cisco Routers :: RV120W-Bug In WAN Traffic Meter

Dec 21, 2011

I configured my RV120W (Firmware:1.0.2.6) to count the traffic on my network. I set the monthly limit to 99999 and did not change anything else.So after a few hours, the traffic counter shows 2048 MB for outgoing traffic. This is impossible, because the DSL-connection is too limited in upload to cause this huge outgoing traffic in 6-8 hours. When I reset the counter at night, the next morning the device shows 2048MB again (even if there was no traffic at all, just some clients syncing time with NTP). I did already reset the device to factory defaults and reconfigured everything from scratch.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 VPN Traffic Control

Apr 3, 2012

We are an A/V integrator and AMX shop and provide our clients with support through the use of VPN tunnels from our RV042 router to their mostly RVS4000 routers.Support is provided through access of remote site equipment using VNC, Telnet, FTP, etc. from multiple PC's at our main office.Netbios is not turned on, but the remote sites have the ability to access equipment on our local LAN should they know our private IP address range. Is there any way to limit the acces from the remote sites back to our LAN while maintaining our access to the equipment on their LAN?I know that one can limt the IP address range on on end of the VPN, but I would like to limit the ability of remote sites to gain "any" access to our LAN. If there's any way to just prevent all traffic from an IP address range on the remote site, that would also do.

Cisco Routers :: RV016 - Traffic Routing

Aug 15, 2011

I have a RV016 with an internal address of 192.168.1.1.  Also on the 192.168.1.0 network is a gateway server that the rest of my clients sit behind.  The clients are on a 172.16.3.0/24 network.  All of the gateway server does is forward the packets.  It does not NAT.  There is a static route to 172.16.3.0 on the RV016.

So my question is how do I get traffic from 172.16.3.0 to route through the RV016?  Computers on the sub net can ping the RV016 and get a reply so I know the gateway server is forwarding the packets between the two sub nets just fine and that the static route on the RV016 works.  Any traffic that tries to go beyond the RV016 never makes it.  It just disappears at the RV016.  I have checked all of the ACLs and they should let all internal traffic through.

Routers / Switches :: Routing Traffic Across Nics From One Subnet To Another?

Sep 25, 2012

I have an issue with some traffic routing:

Machine A | Machine B (Win 2008 R2) | Machine C

Start: 192.168.5.9 > 192.168.5.5 (NIC 1) - 10.14.137.130 (NIC 2) > 10.14.137.128So the question is how do i get traffic from Machine A to Machine C. I've tried various 'Route ADD' cmds but no luck so far. So was hoping someone out there could shed some light for me?Machine B is a AD/DNS and can talk to the entire 10.14.137.x range but has no forwarders set up in DNS. And does not act as a AD/DNS server for the 10.14.137.x range. It fills these roles only for the 192.1668.5.x range.

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N - VPN Tunnel Up But No Outgoing Traffic?

Jan 29, 2012

we've buyed a WRVS4400N to create a IPSEC VPN tunnel to our client in order to access some applications.

After a while trying to configure the router, we have archieved it and the VPN tunnel is up. We can see the tunnel up from here and from client's side as well.

Our client supposendly have created the tunnel in order to access a list of specific IPs in the range 10.113.x.x, but if we try to access this IPs via telnet whe cannot obtain any response.

Making a tracert, we obtain...
C:UsersHuexxx>tracert 10.113.56.177
Traza a 10.113.56.177 sobre caminos de 30 saltos como máximo.
1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  192.168.0.1
2     *        *        *     Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud.
3     *        *     ^C

... and therefor the client doesn't receive any packet at its firewall.

I've tried to establish a static route for 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 to their remote gateway, but I'm unable to add any entry to static routing list... The router tries to do something, but afterall I cannot see the new entry...

What can I do to route the traffic through the tunnel?

After installing it worked great for about 10 min. then the WAN port stopped passing traffic. 3 min. later it started working again. We tested the RV042 on a different network and it works fine. We tested an older Pix on the managed network and that works fine. But the RV042 will not work on the managed service provider voip network. The service provider says that on their end it shows our WAN port going up and down.

CE IP - 172.18.10.10 /30PE IP - 172.18.10.9/30 I had configured some floating static route on the PE towards CE .The routes were installed correctly till PE - CE link was UP as next hop IP was showing as connected .Now the link has been removed and I am receiving a supernet of 172.16.0.0/12 from PE2 via MPBGP. Although the 1st static route for 10.10.0.0 is showing in routing table, the other 2 ( 172.17.0.0 & 172.24.0.0 ) donot show. I believe that as both the routes and next hop fall under the supernet , the static route is not installing. But I don't know why is this behaviour. I tried to remove the distance 250 from both the routes , but still the static route does not install. I tried this on GNS3 but got the same results .

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - How To Force All Traffic From VLAN To Go Through VPN

Nov 21, 2012

Just setup two RV220Ws with a IPsec VPN connection.  All working well.  However, I have a question regarding how to force ALL traffic from a VLAN to go thru the VPN.IPsec from site A (EU) to site B (USA) working good.  On Site A I have a dedicated VLAN that needs to have ALL traffic (internet included) be sent thru the VPN tunnel.  The main purpose of this is to have internet presence as if in the USA.  This is necessary to access some sites available only in USA specially for the kids -their web sites will not display content because they're not in the USA at the moment.  How do I accomplish this?   I tried to setup a Static Route for the VLAN but you cannot setup a 0.0.0.0 destination route.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Firewall Slows VPN Traffic

Sep 9, 2011

Replaced an older RV042 that had damage from lightning. The new RV042 is V03 with firmware 4.0.0.7. This router supports 7 branch offices using site-to-site VPN to other RV042 routers. After connecting the new RV042 at the main office, three of the branch offices had very slow response over the VPN tunnel. I disabled the firewall on the new RV042 and the problem resolved. The three branches with the problem have Windows 7 systems and the other 4 have Windows XP. I confirmed that the Windows firewall was disabled on the Windows 7 systems.I did try leaving the firewall enabled and disabling SPI, but that didn't work. Have to have firewall disabled to resolve the problem. I would not expect the firewall on the main office RV042 to affect VPN tunnel traffic, but apparently it does. Do we need specific access rules to fix the issue. It works fine with firewall disbaled, but I'd be more comfortable with it enabled.

My email server and FTP servers are having fits due to the anti-hammering issue that this creates.

DHCP server on the SRP527W assigning IP addresses for each of the V LANS in different ranges. (eg 10.10.1.xx, 10.10.2.xx, 10.10.3.xx). Would there be any benefit upgrading the Router to a SRP547W?

We host a web page, for some reason when an internal user points the url to the web page it resolves to the web interface of the Router and not the expected web page. If you are outside of the network it resolves to the correct web page. I am not sure why this is happening as it didn't happen with the RV110W or the PIX before that.
