my internet cuts out every hour or so for 5-7 minutes. i have a linksys router and a Motorola modem. i am connected through the router into my modem. It is very annoying cause in the middle of playing my video games, i loose connection and i loose a bunch of stuff.
View 14 RepliesIn one setup, we have fibre optic connection given by the ISP upto Distribution box inside the house where the fibre optic cable is connected to HUAWEI-ECHOLFIE HG865 terminal .From the RJ 45 port in that device , the ethernet cable goes to the DLINK 8 port switch. All the 8 ports are connected with ethernet cables to 8 rooms going concealed through the wall.
Our ISP person tested the connection by connecting one patch cable (from the DLINK SWITCH via the wall socket)to the WAN port of LINKSYS WRT300N wireless router and connecting other ethernet cable from the lan port of the router to the laptop ,setup the username ,password, encapsulation pppoe and configured the internet .found working. I tried to configure the wireless in the house by fixing LINKSYS access point in some rooms.
Here the problem started. I cannot fix the LINKSYS router inside the DB in front portion of the house since there is no space in that and cannot keep the linksys router outside also, So I kept the linksys router inside one room and tried by connecting cable from the wall socket to a 5 ports mini switch and from the mini switch I connected one cable to WAN PORT of the linksys router and one cable to linksys's lan port because I want to share the internet in all the rooms.
I was using the Sony Tablet with an earlier version of a linksys modem and everything worked fine. Since changing to the 4500 I have access to the network have full internet service and the anywhere from about 5 to 10 minutes later the internet freezes on the table and I have to reboot connection and the its fine for about another 5 to 10 minutes before it freezes again.

After playing with the MTU from 1492 (recommended by ISP) to 1364, it's seems to be quite ok until recently.It is getting worst than before. It disconnect my internet almost few times in 5 minutes.

I just bought WRT54GH router. I have one PC (running Ubuntu) connected via Wireless.Every 5-10 minutes I get disconnected for a short period of time (about 10-30 seconds). During that period I am able to access router configuration page, but can't connect to the "outer" world... Surely it's not about my Internet provider, since connecting the PC directly to the Internet cable works fine with no "disconnections".

Anytime sooner and it won't broadcast a SSID or connect to the modem. This is a huge inconvenience if you want to change router settings and then you need to restart.

All kinds of movies stutters randomly and becomes unwatchable. Streaming of the same movie from my server to my laptop (connected wirelessly) causes no stuttering.
I have been doing some troubleshooting and determined that it is not the server's fault (it achieves transfer speeds of 60+ MB/s through Samba). I have also ruled out the possibility that the Popcorn Hour is the faulty component.
Lastly, I just tried switching from the E4200 to my old D-Link DIR-655. This has effectively removed the stuttering, leading me to conclude that it is the E4200's fault.
I have am unable to access the Internet via my modem and router. My computer recognized the connection from my router. My modem is a Motorola 12DVC. My router is a Linksys Broadband Wireless-B BEFW11S4 version 4. I tried several things, including changes via 192.168.1.1. I am using an AT&T DSL connection. The router has only been used one time.

My previous connections are : (1st) 100Mbps ISP connection, (2nd) 200Mbps ISP connection (fibre to home)
Before upgrade, my RV-042 worked very stable.
After using Migration Tools by exporting RV-042 current config and converted to V3 configuration, the converted configuration was imported to RV-042G.
In beginning, RV-042G woks fine after imported converted configuration file. Unfortunately, after around 1 hour of use, my iPad (through an Apple Airport Extreme Station) and wired PC could not browse internet.
But, port-forward to 3 IP-cam still be able to access by my iPhon4 through Carrier 3G connections.
After a reboot of RV-042G, internet connection comes back. But, after an hour of use, the same issue happened again.
RV-042G makes me fluctuated. I will fallback to RV-042 from now on and wait for any further firmware improvement from Cisco/Linksys.
My previous RV-042 and current RV-042G config:-
* WAN1 : 100Mbps ISP connection
* WAN2 : 1Gbips ISP connection ( 200Mbps max throughput)
* LAN1 : connected to Apple Airport Extreme
* LAN2 : connected to Linksys 16-port FastEthernet switch
* LAN3 : idle
* LAN4 : connected to an Intel i7 PC
* Dual WAN link mode with bandwidth management, all internet connection from PC will stick on WAN2
my WAG160Nv2 drops the connection each day at the same hour (4:20pm to 4:40pm aprox.)I think that is because my ISP don't give me a static IP address and the connection must dropped once a day. in my old router I could put the time for the drop. I don't find something similar in the WAG160Nv2.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with an internet connection with a customer.They have a Zyxel 660 in bridge mode and the public ip is delivered to the eth0/0 outside interface of a 5505 ASA.They lose internet connectivity a couple of times per hour. What solves the problem immediately is disconnecting the ethernet cable from the eth0/0 and then directly plugging it back. Then it runs for 20-30 minutes or so.The isp doesnt't notice any errors on the dsl connection, only that they cannot ping the outside interface from time to time (duhhh)However, yesterday, when problem appeared for first time , I noticed that this Zyxel was very hot since it was placed on top of the ASA. Now it is set apart.In the meantime I already replaced all cables, but I think it's the Zyxel so I urged that the ISP send a new Zyxel.Though it sounds strange. [code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to use a DSL modem/router supplied by Bell (my ISP) and it was a 2wire router, but the signal was not enough to supply my entire house, it was 802.11b/g.Now recently I bought a Tenda W307R, N router all-in-one with an AP.I just plugged it right into the 2wire (modem) and now the Tenda routes the wireless signal. However, I am experiencing that it slows down every few minutes or so, for 30 second intervals, then the internet catches on again and everything is good.

I bought this router because I wanted to setup my home network with really high quality up-todate and efficient router. Previously I used Dlink DIR685. Everything was OK but lately my ISP increased internet speed up to 40 megabit per second and Dlink can’t establish connection at a speed higher than 20 mbit/sec. So I bought the best router – I thought so. Router appeared to be rather powerful – the connection was established at a speed ~ 34 mbit/sec, wifi broadcast occurred to be also of high speed and long range. But the main and terrible problem is that the longest internet session for the last 10 days was about 30 minutes. And that is with "keep alive" setting activated. That is awful! My Dyn DNS service doesn’t have even enough time to update my new IP in its DNS base. Of course that is way I can’t get external access to my ftp most of the time. I believe that its firmware ver.2.0.37 is very raw. And there is no any firmware on Linksys site so I can’t neither reinstall firmware 2.0.37 nor downgrade to 2.0.36. Hope this bug will be corrected soon. May be that is defect of this specific router?

View 4 Replies View RelatedCheck to see if there is a firmware upgrade and there is. Well I updated it with the newest and only one out there. I did the upgrade, said sucessful and now it will just random reboot or something........ every few minutes the power light starts flashing....... then all the light go out, then power flashes again and it comes back up. I have tried many times to reflash it with that new firmware but no avail. I wish I had the old firmware back because it was working fine till I did this upgrade.

Every half hour or so it will lose all of its connections (wireless and ethernet) and requires a hard reset. After resetting, all connections are good for a little while but then the problem occurs again. When plugged directly into my modem (Motorola SB6121), my internet access is completely fine.
The router has the latest firmware as far as I know (2.1.02 build 5 May 6, 2011), and I've tried to change several settings (MTU to 1400, Fragmentation Threshold to 2306, etc) but to no avail.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new EA3500 (three months old) that has worked fine until recently. For some reason the wireless keeps dropping all connections every few minutes. I have checked the internet connection and that is not it as I can be hardwired to the router and the internet never drops. This happens to every device in the house (two Xbox, tablet, multiple PC's) at the same time, or randomly between. The devices are a mix of G and N so it is not associated with just one particular band. I have verified the wireless phone, microwave, or anything else that might interfere with the signal is running. One thing I have noticed is that when the wireless connection drops, the actual signal does not go away, I can still see it with a wifi analyzer. This is very frustrating as I just replaced a previous Linksys router with this one for the very same reason. Perhaps I should have bought some other manufacture.
View 4 Replies View Related I have 3 devices connected to the e4200v2 via etherent, out of the 3, only my Xbox has drop about every 15-30 minutes. I have tried Cisco customer service 4 times and Xbox customer service 3 times with absolutely no luck. They both tell me that all of my setting are correct and there is nothing more that can be done.
I have tried everything that I can think of: Port triggering, port forwarding, DMZ, UPnP enabled/disable, power cycling everything, putting Xbox as Qos high priority, designating a static IP for the Xbox, clear the Xbox's cache twice, I even formatted my Xbox's hard drive in case of corrupt data. The Xbox does not disconnect when connected directly to the modem, making the router the common denominator. I am on the verge of returning the router.
I have a WRK54G v2 connected to a Ubee cable modem, and when my computer, connected with wifi or ethernet, tries to play a Youtube video, the actual webpage loads fine but the spinning dots in the player remain for several minutes before the video starts to load. If the video has to buffer again in the middle of playback, it also takes several minutes to start again. When the computer is connected directly to the cable modem, everything works fine. Youtube is the only site I am having an issue with, other video streaming sites like Vimeo work fine.

I bought this device yesterday, I am using this device with BSNL's EVDO (cdma network).It detects my modem fine, and it connects fine, and I can browse.Exactly at 50th min(few seconds difference), my net gets disconnected.I have tried all modes, connect manually, automatically, on demand -- nothing solves the concern.Changed idle timeout to 0.The device when connected directly works fine for more than 12 hours.Updated firmware to the latest 3.14.2 Build 120817 Rel.55520n.Tried Resetting the Router to factory defaults and configured again.Tried all troubleshooting steps from FAQ as in change it to WEP security, connect manually, idle timeout setting.Most importantly, tried creating a BIN file using USB sniffer and used it, even then its the same issue.
