Is it possible to buy an adapter that, when plugged into the cable jack. will give me internet? My wireless network is painfully slow since it's based in the basement yet I work in the attic. (DL speeds tap out at around 250kbps)I dont have an ethernet only the cable jack.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having what's probably one of the strangest computer problems I've ever dealt with. The computer I have set up as my media server (Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit) is randomly losing network/internet communication. Now, I say communication and not connectivity, because I can still ping it from other computers on my network and I can still ping websites from it (via IP address or name so it doesn't appear to be a DNS problem). But I can't pull up any actual webpages when this problem is going on and none of my media services will connect to the PC. I can't even pull up my routers admin page from the PC while this problem is going on (but I CAN ping the router).

I have a linksys router model#wrt54gt v1 and I can not pull up the router's ip address to change the security settings. I have checked and I have the correct IP address of 192.168.1.1. I can ping the router and everything hooked up to the router is now working correctly. I was having problem with the router losing the internet ip address and having to turn everything off and then back on to connect to the internet. I reset the router and it seems to have corrected that problem but I now can not pull up the router's ip address. I have tried in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I have tried typing thebefore the ip address but it will not pull up. I have read countless posts trying to trouble shoot and figure out what's wrong with it and nothing will work.

Mac address, port speed, etc. but no ip address info on per port basis. Using snmp v3 if that makes a difference.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAll wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a user who is a work at home. She has an 871 Cisco Router with is connected to an ISP modem. Lately she has been getting connectivity issues. And a tech from the ISP troubleshooted it and said that the Cisco Router was not pulling an IP address. He said he queried the modem and got a null response on the IP address of the router. He cleared the ARP cace and rebooted the ISP modem; still the Cisco Router would not get an IP address. However when I went into the router, I noticed that there were many log alerts. It seems that the router is in quiet mode.

I have a network closet where all the ethernet ports in each room of the house is routed to so wired routing performance must be good.I also need a good wifi network since we have multiple laptops and tablets we use around the home. I do have 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices so I need the dual, simultaneous wifi operation.The gear I can choose from to do this:
Asus RT-N56U
OR
Cisco RVS4000 + Netgear WNDAP360
The home is a 2-story unit and the networking closet is upstairs near the front of the house. If I go with the Asus RT-N56U, the wifi network will be centered in the network closet. If I go with the Cisco RVS4000 + Netgear WNDAP360, the Cisco router will be in the network closet and the Netgear WNDAP360 will be connected to an ethernet jack closer to the center of the house.
It's been a while since I sent into my router and messed with any of the Storage setting. I recently decided to change things around so I recently went in the router and attempted to access the Storage page but all I get is a blank page with this address http://192.168.1.1/storage/Disk_Management.asp.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a TAC on this, but thought I would throw it out here too. We recently upgraded a 5520 to 8.4 code so HTTPS traffic can filter through the CSC. Well, it takes several attempts to pull up any https pages. Cisco thought it may be hardware, so I swapped out the CSC, but before I go through the hassle of moving licnese, I brought a second ASA with CSC, which prior to this was their main ASA running 8.2 code and did not have issues, of course HTTPS did not filter through it either. the exact same thing happened on this ASA. So apparently it is not hardware related. One other thing I found, if I bypass https, it still happens, and the only solution is to shut down the CSC module. Now I think it may be the ASA policy that while not the cause, but is being difficult. I found that if you pull SIP inspections out, and reapply them in testing voice issues, you must reboot the ASA for them to work again. I am wondering if this is the case with the HTTPS traffic not releasing from the CSC even with the ACL having it removed. I need to try that next.

Problem is, no one can lead me to where I can find new wall plates for this combo setup style. Someone has told me this is out of code for many years now and there is no clear cut path to modernizing it besides just moving the telco jack/box out of the electric gang box and into its own separate box to the side.

i just upgraded from the E4200 to the EA6500. i have a few websites on one of my machines, which i can access from outside my network no problem, but when i try to access it from inside the network, firefox gives the message "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". i did not have this problem with the E4200.

I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. This problem started after the power went off and on quickly two times. I have followed all the instructions that I have found to reset the modem, but to no avail. View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my WRT54GL v1.1 yesterday and connected it to my pc [wired] and netbook [wireless]. I thought all was well until I noticed that my Magic Jack VoIP telephone began dropping calls after about 1 minute. My first course of action was to disable SPI firewall in router and reboot. That had no affect on the situation, then I noticed that my send light on my cale modem [ no manufacturer listed on unit] was not blinking as it has done before the router installation. I reverted to my cable modem to pc only set up and my Magic Jack worked just fine. I need to use the router for wireless, so I need to find a solution to this problem. I took a look at my firmware version and saw that it was not current, but I wanted to bring my problem here for a possible solution be for I flashed new firmware.

I've been wondering if I should terminate each cable with a male RJ45 end and use a patch panel with RJ45 female-female keystone couplers or; terminate each cable with a female RJ45 keystone jack and snap it into a keystone patch panel.
I'm just wondering if there are any pros and cons to each, each method seems to be exactly the same, just buying different pieces.
