View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my WRT54GL v1.1 yesterday and connected it to my pc [wired] and netbook [wireless]. I thought all was well until I noticed that my Magic Jack VoIP telephone began dropping calls after about 1 minute. My first course of action was to disable SPI firewall in router and reboot. That had no affect on the situation, then I noticed that my send light on my cale modem [ no manufacturer listed on unit] was not blinking as it has done before the router installation. I reverted to my cable modem to pc only set up and my Magic Jack worked just fine. I need to use the router for wireless, so I need to find a solution to this problem. I took a look at my firmware version and saw that it was not current, but I wanted to bring my problem here for a possible solution be for I flashed new firmware.

I just upgraded my DLink DIR655 to WDR4300. My VOIP service has worked for the last 5 years. But with WDR4300, I'm frequently experiencing dropped calls. The call will be cut off every 20 seconds or so. This is really a deal-killer.
I have the latest Firmware version 2.05NA on the DIR-825 and while I can make outbound SIP calls I can't receive any inbound calls. The phone will ring but I can't pick-up the call. [code] I am at a loss as to how to register my phone. When I uncheck ALG SIP the phone will not register to my server.I have a Polycom 550 connected to a Trixbox server. The prior router worked great.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 with 2.60VT firmware (rented from Videotron).
Even though the manual says the stateful firewall should have a timeout on connections of 240 seconds or 7800 seconds, all of my connections start at a mere 120 seconds. I'm having trouble with IMAP IDLE pushing e-mails because the connections timeout so quickly (before any stay alive can be sent). A connection to the e-mail server gets opened on 143 (Videotron) or 993 (encrypted - google, e.g.), and I see the connection on the Internet Sessions page, the timeout starts at 120. When it hits 0, the connection is no longer displayed (it is not renewed), and the IMAP IDLE ****s out because the server can't find the client (i.e. the connection has been closed). But it's not just on those ports or servers. ALL of my TCP sessions begin at a mere 120 seconds! Even for a home router, isn't this way too low?
confirm that their DIR-825, on the Internet Sessions page, shows initial timeout values of greater than 120 for a TCP connection? I would love to see a picture of that screen showing higher values. Does it start at 240? Do you ever see a connection start at a timeout of 7800?
I see no way of changing the timeout value. Is it possible to force connections on certain ports to begin at a higher timeout value?
I've had major issues connecting to the Internet in the last couple days. I can't think of anything specific that was changed. The lights on the front:
Power light - steady on.
Circle/triangle light - flashes at approx once per second.
4-circle light - intermittent quick flashes (but mostly on).
Wireless light - COMES ON FOR THREE SECONDS EVERY FIFTEEN SECONDS!
All the lights are green.

I tried turning SEP off. No luck. To note, the Internet works when I hard wire a computer through the dir-655.

I did a hard reset and after that, when i power on the router, it works for aprox. 15 seconds, so i can access the interface at 192.168.1.1, but after those 15 seconds it doesnt respond. The lights are on as if it was perfect, but cant go on admins interface and ping doesnt work either. I did several resets, did the 30/30/30, and clicked on reset to factory defaults on those 15 seconds but nothing happens.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn RFC 951, the format of BOOTP packet was legislated, but the vendor information was not legislated in this document, so the authors of this document had described that :"If the 'vend' field is used, it is recommended that a 4 byte 'magic number' be the first item within 'vend'. This lets a server determine what kind of information it is seeing in this field. "
I think it meant that the format of vendor information wasn't fixed in RFC 951, and any vendor can legislate a new format of vendor information by itself. And the value in "magic cookie" can be set by any vendor. But in RFC 2131, the format of DHCP packet was legislated, and the "magic cooke" was fixed to values 99, 130, 83 and 99, I think it meant that the format of option information in DHCP packet was fixed absolutely and any vendor can't legislate a new format by itself.
Since the format of option information in DHCP packet was fixed absolutely, why the network device needs "magic cookie" to identify the mode in which the succeeding data is to be interpreted ? I think the magic cookie is not useful in DHCP packet because the format of option information is fixed. In other words, there is only one format of option information forever.
Does RV110W-A-NA-K9 router have a utility to send magic packets to PCs on the LAN?

The jacks have double colour coding for each wire as pictured here:I take it 'A' is for T568A, and 'B' is for T568B?So this is how I should arrange the wires for T568B:
My Cisco 2811 router starts to hang & give the following error. "Original nvconfig doesn't have a correct magic number recovering from backup."I need to fix it ASAP.I've already enter common & change confreg to 0x2142 & reset but same problem occur.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAll wires terminate in the basement as a RJ-45 plug, to be plugged into a switch housed in an old circuit breaker box. The first wire went off without a hitch, the jack works, the plug works, all is right with the world. The router for the home is currently plugged into that outlet so as to give the entire network as we build it internet. The second outlet is giving us problems though. I've fished the wire up the wall as before, and the length of wire is shorter than the first run. When I terminate the end upstairs as a jack, then plug in my laptop, it refuses to connect. It says the network cable is unplugged. If I terminate the cable as a plug, then plug it directly into the laptop, suddenly everything works. I have tried so far 3 different jacks, tested continuity on the jacks, and tested continuity on the wire to the jack pins to make sure the terminal block was working and everything came back green

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a network closet where all the ethernet ports in each room of the house is routed to so wired routing performance must be good.I also need a good wifi network since we have multiple laptops and tablets we use around the home. I do have 2.4GHz and 5GHz devices so I need the dual, simultaneous wifi operation. The gear I can choose from to do this:
Asus RT-N56U
OR
Cisco RVS4000 + Netgear WNDAP360
The home is a 2-story unit and the networking closet is upstairs near the front of the house. If I go with the Asus RT-N56U, the wifi network will be centered in the network closet. If I go with the Cisco RVS4000 + Netgear WNDAP360, the Cisco router will be in the network closet and the Netgear WNDAP360 will be connected to an ethernet jack closer to the center of the house.
I need to replace my old router because the wires are broken and the problem is it needs a phone jack for the phone line we use cable not land line. My modem is SVB5120 SURFboard Motorola.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to modernize these outlets with a new RJ11 jack for telephone and replace the electric outlets with fresh ones. Problem is, no one can lead me to where I can find new wall plates for this combo setup style. Someone has told me this is out of code for many years now and there is no clear cut path to modernizing it besides just moving the telco jack/box out of the electric gang box and into its own separate box to the side.
Upgrading such "messes" to standard modular RJ11 plugs, and finding wallplates for it?
I can not get onto the internet via dial up. The message says that I have no dial tone. Using the same line, I get a dial tone on the phone. I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. This problem started after the power went off and on quickly two times. I have followed all the instructions that I have found to reset the modem, but to no avail. Is it possible that the phone line jack needs to be replaced.I have a gateway laptop with Vista program.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm going to be running CAT6 throughout my house (once I figure out all the paths and buy the cable) with the home runs going to a patch panel in the basement.
I've been wondering if I should terminate each cable with a male RJ45 end and use a patch panel with RJ45 female-female keystone couplers or; terminate each cable with a female RJ45 keystone jack and snap it into a keystone patch panel.
I'm just wondering if there are any pros and cons to each, each method seems to be exactly the same, just buying different pieces.
I start to use the CM. I received a request to block a number,I need to block the call only on the Call Manager or also on the Gateway that I have?
I am encountering delays when making any calls using VOIP. I understand that there is always a delay using VOIP but not as much. I've done a bandwidth test on my network and everything seems to be Ok, we have 4 T1s with 55 Reps using it. There is nothing choking up the network.
