Able To Send Packets But Not Receive Through Router
Apr 23, 2012At random times, my internet will "drop" connection and will not download any packets, but I am still able to send packets. My Local Area Connection icon continues to say I am connected, my modem is fully functional, and my cables are good. I can get my internet back up and running for 10 minutes or so by disable and re-enabling my Network Connection. If I simply try the "repair", it gives me an error at the "Refreshing IP" step.I have done a full system scan for viruses and I am clean. My drivers are fully updated, I have disabled my firewalls, and still no luck. During the times when it is down, I can successfully ping my modem through CMD, but I get the time-out error if I ping a site, my default gateway, the DHCP Server, or the DMS Servers.I have made no changes to any major settings on my computer, nor has there been any recent additions/removals of any software.

Jun 6, 2012I have a Linksys wireless router model WRT54G (not sure the exact model, it's not in front of me right now). It has worked flawlessly for the past several years, but for some reason has recently stopped working. I confirmed it's not a problem with the DSL Modem, as I can hard wire connect to my laptop and the internet works fine. It's clear something is wrong with the wireless router. I've tried unplugging, hitting the reset button on the back, and nothing has worked. My computer is able to recognize/locate the router and connect, it's just that I can't connect to the internet. One thing I've noticed under the wireless connection is that the computer is able to "send" packets, but not "receive." My experience is that this is always the case when I experience connection problems, but I have no idea what that means. I was going to call the Help Line, but I see it costs $30 which is likely more than my router is worth and probably 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of a new one so I am trying to troubleshoot myself.

Now i have this problem: i have internet with cable every where...behind switch or behind Ap...but when i wanna use internet with wireless via Asus Ap it doesn't work i checked every thing...the Asus Ap has 3 mode(Ap,Router,Repeater)...i chose every one but only repeater mode works. by the way with modem wireless i can get to the internet but the signal is fair for me to use!

Jan 26, 2011I've been having this problem on my desktop and it's really annoying when i try to play online games that need a constant connection.I have Windows XP and i'm using a wireless connection via a wireless USB adapter. The problem is that the internet is running fine but at random intervals it starts to not send or receive any packets. This will usually cause my to disconnecting during a game causing other players inconvenience. After I d/c the internet will usually take 5-30 seconds to start sending and receiving packets again and regain connection.

I thought all was well until I noticed that my Magic Jack VoIP telephone began dropping calls after about 1 minute. My first course of action was to disable SPI firewall in router and reboot. That had no affect on the situation, then I noticed that my send light on my cale modem [ no manufacturer listed on unit] was not blinking as it has done before the router installation. I reverted to my cable modem to pc only set up and my Magic Jack worked just fine. I need to use the router for wireless, so I need to find a solution to this problem. I took a look at my firmware version and saw that it was not current, but I wanted to bring my problem here for a possible solution be for I flashed new firmware.

This lets a server determine what kind of information it is seeing in this field. "
I think it meant that the format of vendor information wasn't fixed in RFC 951, and any vendor can legislate a new format of vendor information by itself. And the value in "magic cookie" can be set by any vendor.But in RFC 2131, the format of DHCP packet was legislated, and the "magic cooke" was fixed to values 99, 130, 83 and 99, I think it meant that the format of option information in DHCP packet was fixed absolutely and any vendor can't legislate a new format by itself.
Since the format of option information in DHCP packet was fixed absolutely, why the network device needs "magic cookie" to identify the mode in which the succeeding data is to be interpreted ? I think the magic cookie is not useful in DHCP packet because the format of option information is fixed. In other words, there is only one format of option information forever.

Jul 21, 2012I was trying to upgrade my 3560 in the lab and I think I might have bricked it. I tried to load up IOS image c3560-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE5.bin so I would have SSH support. I originally was running c3560-advipservicesk9-mz.122-25.SEE2.bin and now I can't get either to load, I get the error message 'magic number mismatch: bad mzip file'.I've formatted the switch and attempted to load the 122-55.SE5.bin image and got the error message above. In hope I could revert back to my old IOS I tried to load up the 122-25.SEE2.bin image but got the same error message! I've verified that the image was indeed on the flash. I'm at a loss here because I know both images are valid. I've tested them both on my other 3560's.

Dec 5, 2012I have recently hit a brick wall with my router... Yesterday the router was acting funny rebooting about every 5 to 10 minutes. Didnt really think anything of it then it got annoying fast. So i checked my configs and nothing was out of normal checked my firmware and noticed it was out of date. So i grabbed the newest firmware 1.2.0.9 and uploaded it... uploaded fine and then rebooted as it should at that time the power flickered again because somone had plugged an large ac adapter over top of the power switch on the power bar and it was intermittently turning the power off when the table moved... the router then power cycled mid update and is now stuck at the blinking power light state and hasnt changed for 24 hours now...

I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address.
