Cisco :: 3500 (AIR-CAP3502P-A-K9) / Connect Two Building Using Wireless Bridge
Dec 12, 2012
I have a project where I need to connect two building using a wireless bridge.I cisco specialist told me to purchase two 3500 (AIR-CAP3502P-A-K9) access points and an external antennas. The problem I have is these access points will need something to control them. If the access points will be in separate buildings will I need a controller on either side of the bridge to get them to work? What other cisco AP device capable of 300Mps dual band that are autonomous and can bridge between two buildings that are a 50 yards apart?

So I'm going to bridge two Cisco AP's 1260 and 3500, which have an 880 router on each side.
(Currently I have a VPN set-up through the internet for the two locations to communicate) (Naturally they are currently in different subnets) Will absolutely change this and set up as one subnet. There is VLANs setup on each router (same VLANs)
VLAN 1
And
VLAN 10
Everything is configured on the Routers and AP's for these VLANs (works flawlessly over the VPN).
So now since I’m going to get rid of the VPN and set-up a bridge with two AP's, will having same VLANs across both routers be a problem? Will VLANs work OK through the bridge?
Besides using (IP helper address DHCP-IP) command on the non-root bridge side router to forward DHCP requests to the root bridge side router, Also I want to be able to route internet traffic on the non-root bridge side through the WAN port, and only route LAN traffic through the bridge..

Alright, so I have a Dell xps 12 running windows 8.On my school's campus, there are two wifi options. One is secure with a login, the other is unsecured but with a Web login. Normally I connect to the secure one and have no problem.
However, in one building I've encountered issues connecting. My computer will pick up the signal for both options (and says there is strong signal) , then try to connect to the secure one. It will say "connection is taking longer than usual" and then fail to connect, then say no networks available. I tried resetting the network adapters and it picks up the signal again for a moment, try to connect, and then same problem again.
I can see other people in the room connected to the Internet with no issue. My phone also connects with no problems, and has full signal. I have no idea why my computer won't connect.

I have had the EA 3500 router for about three months.
The Parental Control of Cisco Connect Cloud block all site except YouTube ! I have the Parental Controls set up to "Block the Internet" at "Specific Times". The other popular sites are blocked: Facebook, The Chive, Tumblr, etc. But for some reason she is still about to view YouTube all day long!
It has the latest firmware. I spent about three hours on the phone with Cisco tech support about this. They uninstalled and re-installed the router - it still doesn't work!

I have Windows 7 with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 Network Adapter. It can be picky about what routers it connects to but usually it stops being stubborn after a few minutes. Now it won't connect to my building's internet (while my other computer and devices can). My laptop can access any other wifi and internet. Sometimes it can connect to the WIFI but gets no internet and sometimes I cannot connect to the WiFi at all.
1. Sometimes I'm able to connect to router and just not have internet. Sometimes I can't connect at all.
2. I deleted network profile multiple times. Made no difference.
3. Disabled network adapter and re-enabled - Didn't work
4. Updated Net Adapt driver. - Nope
5. Anytime I connect to router the security is set incorrectly to WEP. Troubleshooting tells me to adjust this which I did to WPA2-Personal. Still still couldn't access internet.
6. Tried to ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release in cmd but says "no operation can be performed on wireless network connection while it has its media disconnected" - so nope
7. Tried a se[erate USB network adapter - No difference. This actually surprised me, I figured it must be my Intel 6200 but alas it isn't.
My biggest hurdle is I cannot access the router. I have to figure this out on my laptop and I have no Ethernet chord ability either. Every forum post I read about wifi issues people always tinker with their router and it fixes it.

We had 2 laptops and a pc working through a router with no internet problems. My wife's Toshiba laptop had other problems so IT guy at the college where I teach did a clean install of XP and checked the machine in his office, including internet. No problem. Brought machine home and no internet connection. My laptop works fine on wife's cable to the router. Wife's Toshiba has wireless but cannot establish connection with wire.Another tech guy who lives above us took the laptop up to his place - no connection. Back in the office (different building)- connection. The IT men are baffled. Me too.

After some searching I see many people using power injectors or switches that supploy PoE. I am building a lab for the CCNA Wireless and currently have an old Cisco 3550 PoE switch and a 2106 Controller that I got at a steal of a price. My question is, The 1142 can use the 15.4 Inline Power from the 3550 even though it is not the 802.11af standard correct? If it doesn't then I will need to order a power brick.

I have a cradlepoint ctr350 router. I have a steel building garage abou 75 ft. away from where the router is stationed. I have no problem getting a good signal at the doorstep of the steel building, but once inside I have nothing. What would be the best way for me to get wifi inside of the steel building without having to run a hard line?

designing a wireless network for an apartment complex. The complex is shaped like like an rectangle, fairly small, maybe 100 feet on the ends and 300 feet long on the sides. There are 130 people that we are assuming may have about 3 devices each that they will connect to the wireless network, potentially simultaneously, as this is in a college environment. We have plenty of bandwidth and down/up speed. We are running 30 megabit down and 10 up. I am planning on having a router with two access points centrally located in an apartment and extending the network out with antennas in each direction from the access points with Omni directional antennas. The Access points that I am planning on using are Cisco WAP200 with maybe a Linksys router, as the router should not have more than 10 connections on it. I need something that will not crash after 10-15 users connect to it because it jams up from overload.

I need WIFI inside a giant steel Quanset hut. There is a good signal right outside. Is there a way to do this with one device? I was wondering if I could put one of the antennas of a WRT54G through a hole to the outside and then set it in repeater mode. Theory being it would use the outside antenna to pickup the signal and the inside antenna to broadcast.

We are leasing an office space from a building that has it's own network center. This center can be used by each office/company to either house their own networking solutions or utilize their internet access if you plan only to use cloud servers or NAS servers. Our company (4 employees) is using this network center only for internet access with all of our data stored and accessed in our cloud service. We would like to access the internet wirelessly, which building does not provide. We were given one port and shared the link through the use of a switch. So my questions is would an access point add wireless connectivity without any information (ISP?) provided by the network center? I am not sure yet if we will be purchasing a router/AP or device made for to be used as an AP.

I've never been very good with networking, and this is my first post to these forums, but essentially, what I would like to do is build a wireless network throughout my house, and fortunately it is a new build and I have already had hard-wires installed to the first floor and basement, with the primary connection point being my office on the 2nd floor. What do I need to do, hardware wise, to have a single wireless network throughout the house instead of 3 different wireless routers or something like that?

I need to setup my Aironet 1231 to connect some remote computers to a Cisco home wifi unit wirelessly. Here is what I need:
CiscoLinksys E1000 provides my wireless Internet connection in building A ----> Cisco Airnet 1231 is in building B and cat5 cable cannot be run between the buildings. Building B can see building A's wifi signal but only on one side. I need to provide wifi Internet to the entire B building. ---> Cisco 3550 PoE switch ----> another Areonet 1231 ---> Laptops via wifi.
OR
CiscoLinksys E1000 ----> Cisco Airnet 1231 ---> Wifi PC's
Either setup will work. My goal is to provide Internet access to one or more laptops via wifi. How would you set up the Areonet?
As a: Root bridge, Non-root bridge, or a Workgroup bridge?

We have a Windows server based network (15 wired computers) and four wireless devices (more to come)We are using a CISCO SA520W appliance in the main building as the perimeter Internet gateway / firewall / wireless access. It all works well.We have a second building too far away for wireless devices to reach the SA520W radio in the main building. The second building is connected via fiber to the main building (switch to switch). Several wired computers are connected to the switch in the second building. We want to provide seamless wireless connectivity as wireless device users move between buildings.
We thought to mount and connect another simple B/G capable wireless access point, via ethernet wire, to the switch in the second building. But we're not sure of the best CISCO/Linksys model to choose for this. The choice should work well with the SA520W configuration and be relatively simple to configure in that environment. We're also unsure of the steps to configure a seamless wireless experience for the roving wireless device users.

I configured the EA4500 to work in bridge mode, to use it as an accespoint for an existing network (Linksys WRT610N). It gets an IP address (192.168.1.141), but does not offer a wireless network (the ethernet ports do offer network acces). When I try to access the configuration on IP address 192.168.1.141 I get the Linksys Smart Wifi page asking for the password. When I enter the password, a message "Waiting" appears and that's all. It keeps me waiting forever and I cannot access the configuration settings.I have tried to reset the router (30sec. reset button, power off 30sec, power on) but the result is the same.

I recently changed my internet connection to DSL from Cable, so now I'm using PPPoE type of connection.
Right now my router is configured as Automatic DHCP with the modem doing the PPPoE connection. All is fine and well.
Since I own a PS3, and Nat Type 3 conection is really bad for my online gaming, I would like to bridge my modem and connect to the internet through my router. That way I can properly forward my ports, use QoS and effectively get a better connection on the PS3.
I was able to successfully bridge the modem, but the PPPoE config on the router isn't able to connect to the internet.
Modem and router have been reinitialized after the configurations were changed. I do have the username and passwords, and they were properly put on the router.

We have couple of Cisco Aironet 3500 Series access points with the following P/N: "AIR-CAP3501E-A-K9", we have discovered that we need a wireless LAN controller to connect those new access points!, however, we do not have any wireless controller in our LAN.
We even tried to CLI through the console port but we could not set any static IP on it!, after reading on Cisco site we discover that this type of AP is called "Lightweight Access Point" LAP which handles all the management tasks to the controller!
So what shall we do! is it impossible to operate them without the controller?

We have had several APs disassociating from our controllers. The alerts say, Message: Access Point 'AP-xxxxx' associated to controller '10.x.x.x' on port number '0'. Reason for association 'Dot11g Mode Change. I have read several posts that point out that you should have QoS implemented to prioritize the CAPWAP traffic. I'd like to know if someone has implemented QoS and whether it has been successful in stopping the APs from disassociating. And if it has been successful do you have any configuration examples for the ports attached to the AP and controller as well as the QoS configuration?
We have several sites with AP1142's and 3500's. We have 2 5508 controllers. We are broadcasting 2 SSIDs of which one is in HREAP mode and the other is in local mode. Each of our sites have MPLS circuits.
Here is an example I found on Cisco which I believe can be used for CAPWAP as long as you change the ports to 5246 & 5247 instead of 12222 & 12223.
Example Router Configurations #
This section contains router configuration examples to be used as guides when addressing CS6 remarking or LWAPP control traffic load.
#
This example uses LWAPP APs on the 192.168.101.0/24 subnet, and two WLCs with ap-managers at 192.168.60.11, and 192.168.62.11. (code)

I live in a new apartment building which means a lot of concrete. The internet (fiber) enters the house at the beginning where the modem is hooked up to my Linksys WRT320N. From there two cables run through the house:1 to the home office, where two computers are connected through a switch.1 to the living room, where the Xbox, blue-ray player are connected through a switch.I also have a wifi network running from my WRT320N, but as it is at the beginning of the house, there are some black spots in other parts of the house. I tried to fix this with a Netgear repeater, but that keeps disconnecting.
What I want to do know is place a second linksys device in the living room at the end of the already existing cable that will also broadcast a wifi network, but I want this to be exactly the same Wi-Fi network as I already have. What I want to achieve is that I can walk from one end of the house with my iPad, streaming a video, to the other end of the house and that I always stay connected to the internet and that my tabled just picks up the strongest broadcaster, basically the same as with a mobile phone.

I am building a BOM for a customer and I need to present cheaper options than 3500 or 3600 APs. I thought of these two models but I don't know what models of antennas to pick.1602 is a 3X3 MIMO with 3 antenna connectors. How many 2.4 GHz and how many 5.8 GHz antennas should I pick for each radio?2602 is a 3X4 MIMO with 4 antenna connectors. In this case I suppose there are 2 connectors per radio.
