Cisco Wireless :: Devices To Reach SA520W Radio In Main Building

Jan 9, 2013

We have a Windows server based network (15 wired computers) and four wireless devices (more to come)We are using a CISCO SA520W appliance in the main building as the perimeter Internet gateway / firewall / wireless access.  It all works well.We have a second building too far away for wireless devices to reach the SA520W radio in the main  building.The second building is connected via fiber to the main building (switch to switch).  Several wired computers are connected to the switch in the second building.We want to provide seamless wireless connectivity as wireless device users move between buildings.

We thought to mount and connect another simple B/G capable wireless access point, via ethernet wire, to the switch in the second building.  But we're not sure of the best CISCO/Linksys model to choose for this.  The choice should work well with the SA520W configuration and be relatively simple to configure in that environment.We're also unsure of the steps to configure a seamless wireless experience for the roving wireless device users.

D-Link DIR-655 :: No Connectivity Between Wired And Wireless Devices (on Main SSID)

Feb 24, 2011

Ive had this 655 for about a year now and it has been rock solid. But, there has been one slight issue.

And and all wireless devices can see each other and all wired devices can see each other....but the wired cant see the wireless and vis versa.

The wireless devices (W7 and Vista laptops) can see the wired devices when they are plugged in. But my phone and Galaxy Tab can only see whatever wireless devices there are (cant be plugged in). Even my wired Samsung TV cant see the shares on the Tab or wireless laptops (and vis versa). So, its certainly not a firewall or OS config issue.

Now, I made sure they are all connecting via the main SSID and not the "isolated" Guest SSID....but its acting like the main SSID is isolated from the wired LAN somehow.

Firmware 1.34. IPs for the wired and wireless devices are all in the 1.2 - 1.50 range.

Cisco Wireless :: External Aerials On SA520W?

Jul 23, 2011

Need to boost signal coverage on an SA520W (even though it is very good, building floor is too clutterd and too darn big.Even using a 2nd unit to extend things may not get it all done; However, searching the site tells me there is an external aerial (one of...) in the SMB range, and it uses "N" style connectors. Looking at the specs on the SA520W, it makes no mention of what sort of connectors those are (Happy to admit I am not a cable guy... well not co-ax anynore at least!).

Cisco Wireless :: SA520W And AP541N Are Not Repeating Traffic?

Jul 15, 2010

Any AP that would be able to wrielessly repeat traffic to my SA520W (so that the AP has no ehternet wiring at all).  First off, there is no WDS option anywhere in the SA520W, so there is no method for which to simply create a WDS link between the two devices.  Yet the Factory Default Settings table in the SA520W Admin guide indicates there should be (search on WDS in the PDF to find this). both at the lack of integration of these Small Business Pro devices, and moreso at the fact that I was told that these two would be compatible for wireless-only repeating.  I've been messing around for hours trying to get something to happen.  Maybe I'm just missing something obvious as this is my first time trying to get an AP to talk wireless-only to a wireless capable internet gateway device (the SA520W).

Cisco Wireless :: AP541N And SA520W Support WPA2-PSK Bridging?

Jan 21, 2010

just wanted to know if the SA520W can wirelessly bridge (Workgroup bridge, WDS, etc -don't care which) to either an AP541N or AP1252... using WPA2-PSK

the 2 seperate examples would be

Internet --->SA520W --(Wireless 30 feet) --->AP541N -->ESW-540-24P-K9
internet --->Sa520W --(Wireless 30 feet)----> AP1252 -->ESW-540-24P-K9
internet --->AP1252 ---(Wireless 30 feet) ---->SA520W-->ESW-540-24P-K9

in other words do you just go into the config of the SA520W ... enter in an existing SSID name and the WPA2-PSK  password and it joins that wireless network. lastly does the SA520W support POE to the switch above or only the AP541N

Building A Wireless Network For 130+ Users?

Apr 8, 2011

designing a wireless network for an apartment complex. The complex is shaped like like an rectangle, fairly small, maybe 100 feet on the ends and 300 feet long on the sides. There are 130 people that we are assuming may have about 3 devices each that they will connect to the wireless network, potentially simultaneously, as this is in a college environment. We have plenty of bandwidth and down/up speed. We are running 30 megabit down and 10 up. I am planning on having a router with two access points centrally located in an apartment and extending the network out with antennas in each direction from the access points with Omni directional antennas. The Access points that I am planning on using are Cisco WAP200 with maybe a Linksys router, as the router should not have more than 10 connections on it. I need something that will not crash after 10-15 users connect to it because it jams up from overload.

Adding Wireless To Internet Provided By Building Owners

May 2, 2012

We are leasing an office space from a building that has it's own network center. This center can be used by each office/company to either house their own networking solutions or utilize their internet access if you plan only to use cloud servers or NAS servers. Our company (4 employees) is using this network center only for internet access with all of our data stored and accessed in our cloud service.We would like to access the internet wirelessly, which building does not provide. We were given one port and shared the link through the use of a switch. So my questions is would an access point add wireless connectivity without any information (ISP?) provided by the network center? I am not sure yet if we will be purchasing a router/AP or device made for to be used as an AP.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt320n Building Home Network With Wifi Roaming

Mar 20, 2012

I live in a new apartment building which means a lot of concrete. The internet (fiber) enters the house at the beginning where the modem is hooked up to my Linksys WRT320N. From there two cables run through the house:1 to the home office, where two computers are connected through a switch.1 to the living room, where the Xbox, blue-ray player are connected through a switch.I also have a wifi network running from my WRT320N, but as it is at the beginning of the house, there are some black spots in other parts of the house. I tried to fix this with a Netgear repeater, but that keeps disconnecting.

What I want to do know is place a second linksys device in the living room at the end of the already existing cable that will also broadcast a wifi network, but I want this to be exactly the same Wi-Fi network as I already have. What I want to achieve is that I can walk from one end of the house with my iPad, streaming a video, to the other end of the house and that I always stay connected to the internet and that my tabled just picks up the strongest broadcaster, basically the same as with a mobile phone.

Wireless :: How To Connect Third Linksys WRT 54GL To Main Router

Apr 12, 2011

I have a network where I have two wireless routers wired to a third (main) router. I want to connect a third wireless (Linksys WRT 54GL) to the main router,but I want to connect wirelessly (without any cables). I have tried to bridge it,ie disabling DHCP and assigning a static IP address which is in the same range as the main router but still if i connect my laptop using the third router I cant log onto the internet and worst still I cant ping the main router. The main router is the one that is connected to the proxy server. My connections are as follows,from the wireless antenna the cable goes to the proxy server's wan port,the main wireless router is linked to the server's lan port.My server's LAN ip is 192.168.0.1 and the main wireless router is 192.168.0.2 I have two other routers which are wired to this main wireless router and their local IP addresses are 192.168.0.4 and 192.168.0.5 respectively. I want to connect a third wireless router to the main router but this time without using a cable. What i have done so far is I have assigned it the IP address 192.168.0.6 and I have disabled DHCP,all the other settings I have put the same as the main wireless router.

I have a Netgear WNR3500 Wireless-N Gigabit router that I would like to hang off of the Verizon router and move the Airport Expresses, which are 802.11N capable, to its Wi-fi connection. This would keep my audio streams separate from the video and other wireless traffic and take advantage of the 802.11N.I in configuring the router/s to facilitate this arrangement. I have numerous Windows machines (XP and Windows 7), mostly hardwired, on my main network along with a NAS containing my audio library. So all devices need to be able to see all other devices.
