View 5 RepliesI have an E3000 with firmware version 1.0.04 with WiFi configured as:Guest5GHz (only N)2.4 GHz (only G)I use the guest network access for my guests or my neighbor.Usually they connect and the first page they see in the browser is the http://192.168.33.1/login.asp were they put the password. Some times shomething don’t work and the browser don’t show the page, so the people can’t use the connection because they get a timeout error. The only solution I have in this case is to resart the router, but sometimes is not enough and I have to fisically shotdown and restart it.The login.asp page starts with: This is UNPUBLISHED PROPRIETARY SOURCE CODE of CyberTAN Inc. the contents of this file may not be disclosed to third parties, copied or duplicated in any form without the prior written permission of CyberTAN Inc. This software should be used as a reference only, and it not intended for production use! What about a firmware update to fix it and give the control from the web administration over the guest network?

My wireless stopped working. I had problems in the past, not sure how I got to work then. But the other day after handling the modem/router-combo, I guess it became unplugged. I plugged it back in and have not had wireless since. I turned off computer, restarted. My wireless network is not even listed. I can connect vie ethernet. No adapter is listed under Broadcom Wireless.
I recently bought a Medialink Wireless N router and configured it as per the instructions. I have a desktop computer connected to the router now and it works great with a wired internet connection. However when I try to connect to the wireless network with my laptop, the network does not appear in the available list of networks. The broadcsting SSID feature for the router has been enabled. I am not able to figure out if it is a problem with the wireless network or my laptop, because my laptop has been acting weird lately. Is there a way to test that the wireless adapter on my laptop is working fine. I am able to see other wireless networks on the list. How do I know for sure that my wireless network is set up right?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just deployed 2 brand new 3502I access points. Ap's are connected to a PoE module on a 4507. Ap's are powering up. The 4507 is configured to hand out ip addresses to the ap's. When I run 'sh cdp nei det', I can see the ap's but they do not have an ip address assignment. Another weird thing is in the output of the command, each ap has two entries. One entry shows gigabit0 and the other gigabit0.1. I have never seen this before. I dont know if this in some way is why the ap's are not getting an ip address. I have 40 other 3502I from 2 yrs ago and no problem. The IOS of the new ap's is 15.2.

2. While it has a wifi network connection (which works fine), it doesn't seem to have any listing for ethernet (ie wired) connection. (even though it has the port for wired access.)
3. When i look under computer/device manager/networks, all i get is the wifi atheros 9485 network adaptor. There is no other listing. (see attched file for screen grabs)
4. Am i missing something obvious with all this? The Asus website has examples of this model with screen grab which includes an ethernet adaptor as well (see attached file)
Note that laptop is labelled as an X53 series but in the computer it get listed as a K53e

This may sound ignorant but I cannot get either of the antennas off my 615. They are listed as removable reverse SMA but they are so tight I am afraid of damaging it. This is my second 615 after not being able to get one of the antennas off the first. D-link said they should just unscrew but I cannot get either of them to budge. D-link support said the one I had first must have been manufactured wrong so I returned it to new egg and got a new one. Same issue. I need to have an external antenna on the unit.

It has IOS 12.0 and doesn't support even some basic commands, like int ranges or even the do command in global config mode. And it doesn't seem to support VLANs either.I have looked through Cisco's site and couldn't find what I was looking for. I dont know if my switch supports the newest IOS, or which version IOS that it does support. The switch isn't listed in the IOS software advisor.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am in the process of deploying 3502i APs. This site has 2 - 5508 WLCs both running Software version 7.0.220.0 and 2 - 4402 WLCs both running the same version of software as the 5508s. All of the APs that I have installed so far have joined the controller and I can associate to them and access the network. When the APs first are connected to the switch they go through the 'normal' boot up with the LED changing colors - white, red, green, blue (not necessarily in that order). Once the AP has completed its boot sequence the LED goes out and remains NOT lit.
This is happening to most but not all of the APs. This is the first time I have deployed 3502s - previous experience is with 1142s and 1242s and the LED does not do this with them.
I can, through the CLI, turn the LED on but it is then ALWAYS blue, even if a device is NOT associated to it.
I do not want to leave them off because the account will believe they have a 'dead' AP and with them always blue they cannot properly troubleshoot using the LED.
I just configured Aironet 3502i and it works ok but no lights. I could see the AP in switch, in WLC, and in WCS and ping ok but when you see it mounted it has no light. I tried to shutdown the port in the switch and I saw it turns green (booting), once it was registered in WLC the light will be off.

WLC = 5508
AP - 3502I
Windows Clients = Windows 7
We are using WP2/AES for encryption and 802.1x for key management for our WLAN. The question I have is, when I look at one of the client's properties through the WLC 5508, then look at the "AP properties", its says that its using; Authentication = Open System, and WEP state = wep enabled. Why would the AP properties have open system and wep enabled when the WLAN is setup for WP2/AES??? There is also a "Security Information" Section just below the "AP properties" section and this lists the correct settings. Are the "AP Properties" irrelevant in this case?
There is no wireless connection icon under network connections neither is there a device listed under network adapters in the device manager. My laptop used to connect to wi-fi but i think somehow the adapter was uninstalled or just plain broke... is there any easy way to find out if i can just reinstall it or if i need a usb adapter now?

My devices indicates an unknown ethernet controller. I have installed no drivers for anything, no drivers were listed as needed for wcg200.
The same linksys is hooked up to a second computer (which I am posting from) so I am assuming it works fine. Also I had the thing set up on the last harddrive with win7, the only difference was the harddrive was loaded up with the OS by the computer shop. I have never done this before and wanted to try it out. I swapped ethernet cables to make sure nothing changed with the cables, but no luck.

I have a customer with several older Aironet 1121G WAP's. In one area of the plant the noise levels from several large motors is preventing reliable connection to the WAP, even though it is located in the same conference room as the users. I am suggesting upgrading the 1121G to the 3502I to take advantage of the Clean Air technology. This raises two questions:
1) Will a single 3502I be able to effectively handle the RF noise, or does it require a network of WAPs to function properly?
2) Does the 3502I require the CT2504 controller for the Clean Air to work, or will it function in a stand alone mode?
how to convert a 3502 access point from Autonomous to Lightweight ? 3502 has a new IOS released back in Dec 2012 to work as staandalone mode. I need to convert this back to Lightweight mode.
I have been searching on web but have had no luck so far with anything. Tried converting it to lightweight in the same way as putting it on Autonomous IOS but errored out.
When we were installing some new APs, were plugged in to ports that were not configured on the WLC management VLAN.
This is the illustration
WLC management VLAN is VLAN 80 Management VLAN of infrastructure (Switches routers) is VLAN 10
The APs were plugged in to VLAN 10 and they were not able to associate themselves with the controllers.
Through research, those APs were getting a wrong IP address,
I did the Mode button, pressed for 30 secs, but this did not fix the problem, i thought it was going to clean the flash and bring the AP back to factory default I do not believe this happened.
We also added the cisco-capwap-controller.localdomain to our DNS servers, and then I rebotted the APs and still no luck.
What fixed the issue is we had to go to the DHCP server, release the IP addresses and we found those based on the macs of the APs. What is we do not have the mac addresses?
Now that I have the DNS entry created, if I plug in an AP on the wrong VLAN port will I be able to see it?
I have AP which is not connected to switch.I console it and it gives error unable to to get IP from WLC.Need to know is there any way that i can go to command prompt of this AP without getting IP from WLC? I tried control + c etc it does not go to command prompt.

I have a 3502i(AP_1) that will not join a 5508 WLC(WLC_1)(code 7.2.103). The 3502i(AP_1) will join 4402 WLC(WLC_2)(Code 7.0.230). I have another 3502i(AP_2) that will join the WLC_1 & WLC_2. I am using capwap discover through DNS and hard coding the primiary WLC to AP_1 & AP_2. When I debug capwap events and errors, I see the static capwap messages and replies. Both of the WLC are on the same subnet. I have defauted the AP_1 and it joins the CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER as expected. When I change the Primiary WLC to WLC_1 it goes back to the CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER. If i change the primiary WLC to WLC_2 it joins. If I change the primiary back to WLC_1 it joins WLC_2 even though it is not a secondary. I know the previous joined WLC are stored in NVRAM, so that might be why it is doing that. I can join other ap to WLC_1 just not this one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently had an issue with my laptop that required a complete reinstall of windows. As if this wasn't bad enough, I lost the password that I had for my router. Thinking it was no big deal I just went ahead and reset the router back to factory settings assuming I would be able to set up a network and encrypt it as I had before. Just testing the functionality, I was able to access my router while it was not encrypted and with the DSL modem plugged in, I also had internet access. I did this both wireless and with Ethernet cable.
Happy to see this, I decided it would be a good idea to re-encrypt my router to prevent any outside access. So as I had done before I went to the setting page where I set up a network with a web key. The only thing I entered at all was the paraphrase for the key then saved the setting to test it out. I refreshed the available wireless networks and mine was there and was now listed as secure. I then proceeded to click on the network, entered the key, and then waited for it to connect. The problem is, it never would connect. It continuously tries to connect, and says it is trying to "acquire the network address" but never does. Since then I have been on the hunt trying many different suggestions I have seen online, but none of the situations were quite like this one.
I recently have been reading into QOS and have been fiddling with it on my Linksys WRT54G router. But there are a few things that seem limiting (at least on this version) so I have some questions.I live in a house with three other roommates all sharing the same internet connection. We don't have a bandwidth limit, so I don't care how much they're downloading. When I want to watch Netflix when they're all on the internet however, either my movies will come up in low quality, or will be interrupted.Under the Device Priority I put in my MAC address and set my priority to high. My first question is, what is the priority of a device that is not listed at all? There's only room for two devices so I can't put all three of my roommates in. I would assume their priority would automatically be the lowest.
I wanted to set certain common ports to be at a high priority. So far I just have port 53 for DNS entered with the highest priority, while my computer is set to high. Would this mean any computer making a DNS request would have a higher priority than my computer making a non-DNS query? I would like DNS to be a higher priority than myself streaming video. Finally, are there are ports that streaming video commonly use? I know there are ports for Netflix but I was also thinking of other Flash/HTML5 videos I might come across. Or do they tend to just use port 80?
As I write this my iPad is connected to my Linksys router. However, my iPad is nor listed as a device in the list of all connected devices. All my other devices are listed just fine. Why I can't find my iPad?
