Cisco :: E2000 - Constant Dropping Of Access

Jan 31, 2012

Model E2000
Firmware: 1.0.04
Using 2.4 channels

All devices that are connected wireless through this access point have the difficulty of dropping internet momentarily. When ping from wireless devices to comcast.com with -t I get:

This happens about once every minute. Wireless connection itself does not drop just access to the web. Every single wireless device does the same thing including Ipad, ipod, mac and windows machines. Two machines that are directly wired into the router do not have this problem. Thier Ping status stay at around 60ms. Things I have tried:

adjusting MTU
Beacon interval in both faster and slower directions
Fragmentation threshold
RTS threshold
Made sure no other devices in range are on same channel
firmware updates
different security settings
changing SSID

This is causing streaming problems for both security cameras and client music.

Cisco Routers :: E2000 / WRT120n - Internet Dropping Every 10 Minutes?

Jun 25, 2012

I went through the hoops with my ISP (knology) and they are adamant that it is the router that is the problem.  I've tried two different routers, an E2000 and a wrt120n (it may be 160n..)..  both do the same exact thing.  I'm extremely tired of it.  I was told it could be an IP issue or something related to DHCP.

Modem:
System:  ARRIS DOCSIS 2.0 / SIP 2.0 Touchstone Telephony Modem   HW_REV: 04
VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C.
BOOTR: 6.24
SW_REV: 6.1.77T.SIP
MODEL: TM602G
 Router:  E2000

Problem:  Internet 'lags out' every 10-15 minutes for approximately 3-10 seconds.  It only does this when I'm connected through the router and never when I'm plugged directly into the modem.  It happens most commonly when my brother and I are both online at the same time.  It's rare when we only one of us is online.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000-RM Signals Dropping In And Out

Jan 18, 2012

E2000-RM router has been working fine until about 2 days ago. Wired connection still works fine, but the wireless signals seems to be dropping in and out. I have a couple wireless devices and they all seem to be experiencing problems. Using the network connection bar on my laptop sometimes it shows a strong signal and connects no problem. Then all of a sudden the signal is gone (drops off list). It can be both the main and guest signal dropping, other times it might just be the main, etc., etc.   Sometimes it shows a signal but will not connect and then a few seconds it might connect, or drop entirely.  I guess the best word to describe it is highly erratic. Distance does not seem to matter. I can be 2 feet away and get the same behavior. The indicator on the box shows a signal at all times.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - Access Restriction Shuts Down Access To All Computer

Jan 1, 2013

I have set up access restriction times for my son (we have wireless access for all systems).  I use the MAC address on his systems. Xbox, Kindle Fire and his Laptop. The MAC address are Correct. Here is the problem:

I set the "allow" and times from 6pm - 11:00 pm (while on xmas vacation) - the system works for a while he is shut off as i would like but....

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times

Linksys E2000 And Split MS Access Database?

Jul 12, 2011

Because of limited budget and a paranoid boss, the MS Access database at work is running through a simple Linksys wireless E2000 N router rather than a more dedicated server setup.A desktop server PC is storing the Access database and 3-4 laptops are connecting to the split database linked tables via laptop wireless N adapters only.Upon having several people accessing and updating records we've noticed a huge amount of instability frequent network interruptions.I have several theories/observations:

1) While not an ideal location (one end of the building), signal strength is consistently shown as 4/5 bars to 5/5 bars, even through several walls

2) Interference: Several other routers, all on 2.4Ghz could be creating too much interference. (none of the laptops support 5Ghz)

3) Number of individuals accessing the database at one time. This is where I'm unclear. Could having 3-4 people working on the database at once pose any potential problems? I'd ordinarily think not but I am coming up short with explanations.

Last week two of us were working with the database, updating records and such, from probably 100 ft or more away with no issues. Then the last few days just to stay connected requires being within 5-10 feet of the router AT MOST. No settings have been changed and network disconnects/interruptions in Access are happening every few minutes.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Access Internet Through E2000

Apr 21, 2013

I have a Linksys E2000.

It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Not Allowing Access To Other Devices

Nov 5, 2011

I just set up my e2000 on a PC using Windows 7.  I am additionally trying to set up additional devices on the network.  The two that I am currently working with are:Dell Latitude d240 running Windows XP.HTC Evo smartphone running Android

I can't get these on the network through the e2000.  They can access the internet through the e2000 but only as a guest and therefore don't have the same level of security.  What do I need to do to successfully put the above devices on the network?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Block All Internet Access?

Mar 12, 2012

E2000 about a years old.One of the rule is to block internet access from 1am to 4am for certain internal IPs.Working fine until a week ago. Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot. If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Now just about a year, this E2000 keeps blocking all traffic.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Connected To RVS4000 As Access Point

Feb 26, 2012

I use a E2000 as a wireless access point to the Internet, by connecting the LAN of the E2000 (set for x.x.x.5) to the LAN of an RVS4000 (Set for x.x.x.1).  The E2000 is set for Automatic Configuration, and everything works fine..... Until a power failure occurs... Then, after everything boots up again..  I get the "NO INTERNET" prompt on the wireless....

By using Ping Plotter, from a computer on wireless end, and another computer with Ping Plotter on the wired side of the x.x.x.1 LAN,  I've determined that it's the E2000 that has disconnected from the RVS4000.

I have found a work-around, though....No matter How the setting boots up, If I toggle away from and then BACK TO: NAT DISABLED in Advanced Routing, Everything is back operational.....  Until the next Power Failure....

Is there any way of making this Automatic.

In another forum, there was a suggestion of putting the E2000 in Bridge mode in WAN settings... I can't find it....

Linksys Wireless Router :: Turning E2000 Into Access Point / Switch?

Dec 6, 2012

we got a At&T Modem/Router upstairs, and then we got a long ethernet cable running from there to the basement. The problem is that this only allows for one LAN connection at a time (an issue for LAN parties and such). I do have an E2000 Linksys router however and I want to be able to use that as like a switch/access point.I am pretty sure this is possible but I have forgotten all of the steps to do it.The att modem/router is running on 192.168.1.254, and my Linksys which is now directly connected is on 192.168.1.1, so I have a different address in that regards.Do I need to edit my Linksys settings now, or do I have to edit the at&t settings? Also I will be using this for Xbox Live at points so will I need to re-open all those ports up on my Linksys, or at least set the DHCP to the Xbox's static IP to keep my NAT good?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 / Remote Desktop Access With Mac And Asus Transformer Prime?

Jul 31, 2011

I have an E2000 router with the most current firmware. I have a Sony VAio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit,a Macbook with 10.6.8, and a new Asus Transformer Prime with ICS.My work desktop is a Dell Optiplex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. I frequently work from home and have no issues remoting into to my work PC from by Sony laptop via VPN and RDP.However I have never been able to connect successfully to my work PC with my Macbook(using Remote Desktop Connection 2.1 for Mac OS) or Asus tablet(using WYSE Pocket Cloud RDP app for Android). I can however connect to the VPN itself on the Macbook and tablet without issue same as my Windows laptop. The other interesting part is I can connect via RDP when I am connected to a Mi-Fi 3g hotspot. So it is definitely something in the my Linksys E2000 blocking the connection for some reason. I have even set Port forwarding of 3389 with the ip's of both the Macbook and Asus tablet.I have also tried connecting via ethernet to the router with the same outcome. I cannot ping my work pc from either device as well.In addition the firewall on my work PC is completely disabled and all services related to Remote desktop access are enabled and running.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Internet Access Is Not Affected When Printer Appears To Be Offline

Jun 10, 2011

I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together.  The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline.  Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines.  I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.

The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router.  This always works.  Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now.  It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP160N Connection Dropping?

Aug 20, 2012

I just bought a WAP160N to replace our WAP54G because my Samsung Glaxay 3 could not use the internet through our WAP54G (not sure if Galaxy 3 doesn't like G mode networks). The problem we have after installing the WAP160N is that the signal doesn't extend as far in the house as the WAP54G. We have the routers up the front end of the house (the WAP160N is wired to our Netcomm router) and when you go to the kitchen (in the middle of the house) the signal from the WAP160N is being lost/fluctuating, then dropping on devices such as iPads. We have WAP160N set to mixed mode on 2.4Ghz, AES or TKIP. I tried setting it to 5Ghz but that didn't work either. We always had signal strength in the kitchen when using the WAP54G. if the WAP160N can not extend its signal further or the same distance as the WAP54G? I find it odd that the iPads can't hold the connection in the kitchen, when we've always been able to use internet/wifi there. I'm thinking of returning the WAP160N if the signal cannot extend far enough. router that can extend the signal far throughout a house?

ATT DSL - Getting Constant Signal Drops?

Sep 12, 2011

I currently live in a fairly-large apartment in Downtown San Francisco and as you can probably imagine, I have ALOT of interference with nearby residential and business wifi's, microwave's, cell-phones and all that jazz.

I currently have the ATT Elite DSL package, which is I believe the 6MBPS(?) package? Anyway, it's the $40 package and I want to say it's either the second or third up from the basic 19.95/month subscription. Here's my problem: ever since I moved into this building, I get signal drops on my ATT all the time--like at least once an hour if not more often. I had a technician check the wiring and he even replaced the router box (they always do) in hopes of improving the situation but so far, no dice.

I have tried switching to different channels after using scanning to see what channels other internet users nearby were using, but I did not see any improvement. The best solution I've been able to come up with is to set my router to be on 802.11B only. For the most part,I have not disconnected but I do feel a certain amount of slow-down or lag compared to my 802.11G settings. Now,I might be paranoid but it certainly does take a good amount of time longer to load up pages and such as compared to previously. The tech suggested I look towards getting an 802.11A/N router, but alas ATT does not support routers of that caliber...not sure why. It's been years and they're still stuck with the 2Wire 2701HG-B model for DSL.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Constant Disconnecting

Apr 8, 2012

My router was working fine.  Then 1 day I started having slow internet.  My ping in games would jump up from ~60 to about 400-800.  Did some troubleshooting with my ISP.  Seemed like my modem was to blame.  So I bought a Netgear one from BestBuy.

Everything was fine.  Then 1 day the internet stated disconnecting.  None of the computers could see the router in the wireless networks.  I found the only way to solve the problem is to unplug the power and plug it back in.  Strangely it seems to happen a lot late at night like around 11PM or 12 midnight EST.

Before with my old modem I just had automatic settings and DHCP.  With the new modem it wouldn't work so I called DLink and the tech guy walked me through some steps, one of which was changing the ip address from 192.256.0.1 to 10.10.10.1.  Whenever I reboot the router after a disconnect the computers say "there was an IP address conflict."  Maybe this has something to do with it?

I saw in another topic someone said their router's time was wrong.  Mine said it was 2010 so I updated it to automatically sync with ntp1.dlink.com and now it shows 2012.  Let's see if it fixes now.  My mom's laptop had a similar problem with Skype.  For some reason the clock kept resetting to 2000 and Skype would not work (everything else did).  When she resets the time to 2012 it starts working again.

I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).
