Cisco :: EPM Server Processes Don't Die After Dmgtd Stop - LMS 4.2 Solaris
May 16, 2012
I am unable to kill EPMServer processes after shutting down LMS 4.2 on Solaris 10. There are still 60 or so EPMServer processes running. Killing them manually does not work as they appear to restart again after killing. Only way to knock them off is to reboot the system. Why does dmgtd stop not kill all LMS processes and is there a patch required for LMS 4.2 or Solaris 10 that would work?
I have installed VM ware v Sphere Enterprise Plus 5.0.0 and created a VM using an OVA file with LMS 4.1 running in Linux. It was working good since 3 weeks ago and I was adding snmp server configuration in all my devices (routers/switches) and suddenly one day DCR Server process stop working. I was trying the following actions:
1.- dmgtd stop -> to stop daemons 2.- dmgtd start -> to start again the daemons
And the DCR Server does n´t start up automatic.
Then I try this:
1.- pdexe DCR Server
And show this message:
[CPLMSCOL01/root-ade ~]# pd exec DCR Server ERROR:Get reply from server failed:
i have a server with windows server 2003 that SQL server 2008 is installed on it.regulary server service will be stoped automativcaly and all shared folders will be unshared and i must restart server and waiting for next stop and .
We got the following error message on Ciscoworks LMS 2.6 on Solaris 5.9:
{diskWatcher} - Avialable space in /var of server xxx is less than 10 percent.
We stopped the Daemon Manager and delete some log files. After restarting the Daemon Manager it took about 45 min to came up but unfortunately when we tried to connect to the sever by IE we got "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" the pdshow shows that:
Any info concerning the installation of CW LMS 4.0.1 on Solaris 10!
The installation keeps on failing when it is checking for packages. Also the second time when we downloaded the software once more.
ERROR: AddProperty called with invalid package name: CSCOmd.
I have also attached the install log files.
The system is Solaris 10 with zones:

We have a Cisco Works LMS 3.2 (solaris) and installing service pack 1 we get an error during installation process:[code] We attach instalation log. We think the problem can be related to bug CSCtn45425.
Is there a way to allocate CPU or memory resources to specific processes - similar to a QoS-style configuration where you can prioritize the processes being handled by the CPU? We have a 2811 router whose CPU periodically spikes to 100% utilization. At these times, all of our EIGRP neighbor adjacencies bounce - either a peer goodbye is received or the hold time expires.
Our thinking is that we could possibly tell the router to prioritize the EIGRP process with the CPU so that routing is maintained, even though we realize other processes (like qos or ISAKMP for our tunnels) may suffer.
There are some unknonw issues with ciscoworks LMS 3.2 on a solaris server. Many important processes like [code] and many others (around 40 processes were in shutdown state). When I try to start the processes from the Console window by "Managing processes" option, they still remain down with the same status.I tried to stop and then start the daemon manager, with the below commands: [code] After this, when I run command to check processes status (attached for your reference), I can still see those processes down.
I have a 2811 Router that is experiencing high CPU utilization. I have already issued the "show cpu proc" command, and everything seems to be fine (it's not a process issue) . According to our traffic graphs, we've seen that CPU is related to high link utilization, since we have 2 Fast Ethernet interfaces (Internet 4 MB and MPLS 6 MB), and when those interfaces have to deal with a lot of traffic at some hours, the CPU Load increases in the Router.
I found an article where they say that 2811 ISR Routers can deal with up to 61,44 Mbps (120.000 pps), but our router is far away from reaching that limit. It usually manages up to 16 MBPS. This router manages some services such as NAT traslation, ACLs, voice traslation profiles, policy routing (QoS), firewall and DHCP.
What can be happening to the router?.. Is it normal that when it has to process a lot of traffic, its cpu must increase up to 95%, even if it is handling just 16 MB compared to the theorical 61 MB? Is there any command or tool that I could use to troubleshoot this issue? Is there any limit in terms of WAN traffic that it could handle? How much influence do those services have over CPU Utilization?
Given these incidents, which router series could suit better in my network to avoid high CPU issues?
Yesterday I had a installation of LMS4.2.2 who was working fine. I followed the procedure to install VMware Tools on the virtual appliance on this thread url...
Now I have a problem with the processes of LMS, but maybe it is not linked. I forget to do a snapshot before installing VMware Tools so I need to find a solution. A whole bunch of services do not start know. I tried to uninstall the VMware tools, to regenerate SSL certificate, I rebooted the server several times. It is running under VMware 5.1. [code]
but when i configure the poller i believe the data i mixed up somehow. I for example i don't get all neighbor in the ospfNbrState. i tried with snmp context configuration but i am not sure if this right what i did.
I have a problem with ME-3600x running two ospf processes. Proc1 is WAN and PRoc2 is LAN. I am redistributing routes into both directions. After a WAN outage , certain wan routes did not get redistributed into the LAN process. I had to do a clear ip route to fix the problem. Has anynoe seen such a scenario with ME-3600x or any other switch/router
I am having a bit of trouble with my internet. Whenever I start up a video game like ArmA, CoD, BF3, GMod, ect. My internet crashes. I also ran game booster and it crashed my internet. [code]
Whenever I start a Cisco VPN from any machine on the network, DNS requests to the DIR-655 stop working. If I reboot the router, DNS starts working again (the VPN was left on). Why starting the Cisco VPN would freak out the router?
I have TWC internet, I've never had a problem till 6months ago. I play online video games often and well it was all fine and dandy. My brother use to have a desktop which he skyped 24/7 webcam and all, that didn't bother my gaming till he got a laptop. Now that hes on a laptop and only when using a laptop on wireless it makes my internet go crazy. I played wow and my ping was 110 once he got started in a webcam session it would fly up to 1000+ in ping. PS3 would lag to s---. I'm not exactly sure whats causing the horrible lag, I know the program that does it is Skype webcam when ran on wireless. Some people say they use you as a super nod whoring your net out to others. Others thing is too many incoming connections bottlenecking my router. Is there any way to fix solve this problem?. I lag even when QoS is set. He uses a Windows 7 Laptop.
I boot my computer at my company and if I immediately try, I can connect to the internet with IE or Chrome'm on my company's network. A few minutes after computer start up, I can no longer connect to the internet (times out). However, if I then open VPN, connect to the company network and turn right around and close VPN I now can connect to the internet. I've queried my IT group and they get a 'Huh?' expression on their face
I have two computers in my house, one is set up directly to the modem/router and the other (in my room) is set up wireless using that belkin adapter above.
Everything has always worked perfectly, but two days ago things went haywire. If my PC connects to the wireless, then it makes the router stop working for the other computer and any wireless devices I have. As long as I don't have my PC connected, then things run smoothly and there are no problems, so it's definitely stemming from my PC?
I thought it might have been the router at first, so I switched it out and it worked fine for over 24 hours, but then the problem came back.

im tired of sharing my dsl with mean grumpy neighbors. how do I shut them off from conntecting to it? I use a router and run the house thru wireless connections
I have a cisco router 1811 when powered displays the output below then it hangs at that point.
System Bootstrap, Version 12.3(8r)YH8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc2) Technical Support: [URL] Copyright (c) 2006 by cisco Systems, Inc. C1800 platform with 393216 Kbytes of main memory with parity disabled
I have just installed prime 1.3 (brand new install), we have started a discovery job to find one switch (IP address), this job has so far come up with 311 credential failures and appears to be going through every 127.0.0.x IP address it can.Is there a way of stopping this job from running. Clicking on the Red X next to the name has no effect.
I have the following Pix 515E Firewall, that has been working good for a few years. But suddenly, the Pix stop booting up. The only thing that is happening is the power and network traffic led flashes and the active led is off. So my question is that is this symptom a hardware or software problem and is it fixable with either new parts; or is my firewall dead. I suspect that it is a hardware problem since the active led doesn't light up. I cann't even enter the ROM Moniter mode.
We have a router (7206) which connected to client device in /30 IP segment, but this device is a switch which connected to many more devices. Doing packet capture on our router interface unravel many ARP requests whcih comes from the client switch. Is there any feature or command which we can stop this?
