I have dismounted one of them and it has an Amber light on ethernet LED and Green Light on radio LED and off on status. It does not respond to reset and nothing happen when i console into it. What might have happened to this AP? It's barely two years. I have tried different power injectors and direct power and still behaves the same way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have an AP located on a German site which is supposed to connect to a WLC which is in Germany as well. Our network however is spread to France as well where another WLC is located. Now, the AP can not be convinced to connect to the German WLC. Despite our efforts (e.g. manuel IP configuration, reset to factory defaults) we don't manage to bring that AP to the German network - this is by the way the only AP, all other approx. 200 work just fine.

I know there's plenty of "dumb" media converter choices out there, but was hoping to get one that has a console conn or the like to troubleshoot any possible issues. I'm converting between 50nm multi-mode fiber with an SC connector to 1000-bT copper.

I have a cat6 line ran from each port to the 8 distrabution closets in the bldg.My question is this if i am using a managed switch to send the signal to the other switches, do the other switches also need to be managed? or can i use unmanaged switches at the other locations. I do not want each condo on those switches to be able to see or comunicate with the other condos on those switches. I am using 48 port switches in the 8 distrabution closets.

View 19 Replies View Relatedsuch as the SLM2048T can be configured as an managed switch. Our schools have laptop carts and we want to put switches in the carts so that the laptops will be plugged into the network when not in use and software installs, updates, etc. can be pushed to the laptops while they're in the cart instead of waiting for them to be taken out, powered on and pushed over wireless. I can find a 10/100 48-port unmanaged switch, but I really want a gigabit unmanaged switch, but they don't seem to exist so I was wondering if a managed switch can be configured and used as an unmanaged switch. I don't want to have to assign a static IP address to the switch.

We (our company) have a new glass fiber internet from a provider with 5 ip-addresses in an /29 range. I try the accomplice the following. On port 1 comes the output from the provider. On port 2 till 7 I want to separate the ip addresses so can distribute these addresses to our lan, to a wifi hotspot for external company visitors etc. So on port 2 a ip to the lan, on port 3 a ip to wifi router
I wanted to get some opinions on the topic above. We are purchasing MPLS services from a large ISP and they offer a managed router option. I will also have a Cisco ISR 2900 at each site running SRST for my voice system. I have some experience with BGP and am not scared at all to support it if need be. That said, I am currently looking at pros and cons of going with a managed router from this company vs managing my own. Actually, I will manage my own regardless and would just plug it into the managed router. My router is perfectly capable of handling the BGP protocol but I am hoping that I can get some opinions from all of you.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two public IP's entering a location from two different sources. One is under our control and the other is a 3rd party. Lets say Ours: 1.2.3.1 3rd Party 1.2.3.2
One is coming in through a firewall/router and the other is a direct link. Each will come into a different network segment 192.168.200.0/24 and 192.168.210.0/24
some of the hosts one subnet will need to talk to the other.
My envisioned setup would be as follows.
1.2.3.1 will come in to the firewall/router into the managed switch. 1.2.3.2 will come in the the same switch but in a vlan The vlan will have a trunked port to the firewall/router to allow routing between the vlan (192.168.210.0) and the other subnet (192.168.200.0).
I recently upgraded to a new wireless access point with wireless N and still have the old G one. Wireless access point plugs into computer with 2nd ethernet port configured to give access point internet. Then, the computer would manage access to the network, restrictions, firewall for the access point and so on.

Here are my vlans 1-default, 2-management, 192-data, 92-voice, i believe its running rapid spanning tree protocol. Do i have to take off encapsulation on my data vlan to get it to work or make the data vlan default vlan for everything. I am lost as to why this is not working.
I just purchased a new SF-300 managed switch for the purpose of using it on the DMZ, so we can mirror the internet port and monitor traffic for my company. I have set it up from the web interface to miror port 1 to port 2 and that's pretty much it. I decided to test it before putting it in production, by hooking it up to one of my core network switches, connecting a laptop to it and trying to get online. It doesn't even connect to my DHCP server to get an IP address. If I put the laptop back on the same subnet as the switch management IP, I can still connect to the switches web interface. Isn't the basic functionality of a switch to pass traffic?
I should also mention that I'm not a network engineer, so there might just be something I'm missing with regard to a default setting that needs to be switched off?
We have recently purchased SG 300-52Port Cisco Switch to support our Network but they constantly having some bizarre issues or I assume bugs, i.e. we cannot Telnet nor SSH to the switch now, whereas we were able to SSH before, we have set them up for Remote Log Services to get some syslogs and reports but no report have been generated nor logs,
I have done some testing through Wireshark and there are absolutely no reports / logs.We have some real issues with this switch and it’s hard to believe that this is a Cisco Product,

We are using Campus Manager 5.2 with LMS 3.2. We have 100 devices and all 100 devices has been successfully discovered in Common services in all 100 devices are showing in DCR.When we check in RME we have found all 100 devices over there.
But, in Campus Manager we got only 95 devices. out of 88 WS-C2960G-24TC-L 5 switches are not showing in Campus manager. we have added the same manully ( manually included & Ecluded all 5 devices in Campus manager) and start the data collection, but no result.
After data collection it is showing not managed by Campus Manager when we check ( Show all Included devices option).
