Ipads are not part of domain so we are not able to use the same model, or can we use the same model for authentication? How to setup WLC to authenticate ipad users via certificate instead of PSK while connecting to the WLAN?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are implementing a new corporate wireless network with Cisco 5508 WLC's and C3602I LWAP's. We are not running any RADIUS or EAP at the moment and are starting with WPA2 w/ AES with a pre-shared key to begin piloting. The issue we are having is iOS based devices (iPhone/iPad) do not seem to want to connect. We just get a could not join wireless network messages. We have had success with several Windows based laptops, my MacBook connects, as well as several different Android devices.Looking at the logs on the WLC I see these entries which correspond to the MAC address of my iPhone.

We have a remote location with 1 LWAPP AP connecting to a 5508 WLC. We are doing 802.1x auth/wpa2 on 1 SSID for iPads to connect to. Now we want to simply connect a printer to print wireless using AirPrint from the iPads. The problem is how to get the printer connected to the wireless network specifically to the sane SSID? Will the printer need to support 802.1x or have the ability to do certificates? Is there a better way to do this.
View 5 Replies View Relatedon a 5508 WLC can we create new SSID for I PAD / IPHONE Users without having ISE, only I phone / I PAD are allowed to be authenticated rest all should be denied. IS this possible?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently had a 5508 controller installed and configured for a corporate network as well as internet only guest access. Users authenticate via 802.1X key management on the corporate network and web authentication via guest. This works fine, however, I've run into a problem. We also use iPads for inspections and the inspection site is housed internally. I've had a network admin create an exception in the firewall that will allow connection to the internal sites from the guest network, however, it does not function. I did find that if I connect an iPad to the corporate wireless network I'm able to download the necessary certificate to the device but that only works if I use my login information which is not something I am interested in doing. Is it possible to enable another authentication for the corporate network without breaking the functionality of the existing 802.1X authentication? What could possibly be the cause on the guest network not allowing connectivity to the internal sites, even though the exception has been created?

We have two SSID's Guest and Corp. We are using 5508 controllers.
The problem is that if an iPad user is connected to Guest SSID and then try to connect to Corp then it fails saying "Unable to connect to Corp". After 10-15 retires the same iPad connects successfully. The problem doesn't happen on windows PC. I have attached debug for one of the clients.
We have a centralized WLC with some branch office with AP's in Flexconnect Mode. The Wlans are configured to use Web Authentication (Landing Page). The Landing Page is Cisco Default.
We're experiencing some problem with Apple Devices, on some the Landing Page apperars on some not. The WLC Software is about 1 year old. On a XP machine the landing page doesn't appear too, but you can type in the address manually and it works.
Whats the best solution to include the Apple Devices successfully in the WLC Wireless World.
We find that some of the utilized iPads (iPad2, iOS 5) have a significant delay to connect to the WiFi after waking up.. though some of them show the WiFi-icon instantly after wake-up.. That is causing the crestron App on it to "malfunction", which is to say that it can't connect to it's server and goes back to home screen to allow re-connect..
WLC and LAPs using the latest software (7.2.103.0).. encryption is WPA2/PSK..
I changed the WLAN to use 802.11g only.. changed Beacon-Time.. changed encyption.. changed WMM settings..Alas, the iPads that expose this behaviour do not show any difference with the changes..
I have tried to establish a VPN-Connection from Ipad (via the Ipad built-in vpn-client) to a SA540.Unfortunately without any results. I get the message "Server is not responding". (A VPN Connection from a normal Software-Client running on W7 works fine).

Everything is relatively new (1-2 years old). Most everything is turned on during the day but only a few things may be in use at a time. Many of my devices are loosing connection multiple times per day, my ipad is losing connection every 15 minutes, my apple tv takes a lot of finagling to connect (my level of tech expertise is basically me power cycling everything and prayer). Once my laptops get online, they tend to stick. It seems my apple devices lose signal more frequently.I've updated the firmware on the router and played with wideband settings and channel selection and haven't noticed much difference. I do see a lot of other wifi signals around me. The constant disconnecting has been going on for a couple of months. We have Comcast/Xfinity as our cable provider on 20/MB internet.

View 10 Replies View Relatedwe recently upgraded our home router and have been having trouble ever since. Our old router was a Netgear one, so we bought a newer netgear model. Since installing the new one we can not get my daughters laptop, an iPad and ipods to work on the wifi. My computer is wired into the router and works fine, it is just the wireless. All of these things worked perfectly using our old netgear wirelss modem and all of them can find the wireless network on their list of available networks, they all say that they are connected with a good signal, but when they try to browse the internet or check emails, it comes up saying not connected to the internet. We even bought a range extender because we thought the signal might not be strong enough between the new router and my daughters bedroom which are at opposite ends of the house and on different floors, but it made no difference and wasn't a problem before.
Anyway, the router we bought is a Netgear N150 wireless modem router DGN1000, the cables are plugged in to ports 1 and 4 ( there is only 1,2,3 and 4 to choose from). The extender is a Netgear universal range extender WN2000RPT
I have tried turning it all off and back on again, have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but still nothing. Daughters laptop uses Vista and she has McAfee security. Exactly as it has always been and has worked fine using our old wireless router, just not this new one.
Currently I have the ea 6500 and it seems to lose connection to my IPAD 3 often. I have setup the IPAD to connect to 5ghz connection and it will still lose connection. Is this an ongoing issue? I also noticed that it signal stength isn't fully covering my home like my linksys wrt54g did.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a new 5508. I've used the config from a 4402, have successfully connected to the Service port to manage the device, but for some reason cannot connect to the Management interface. In this case, port 1.
The service port is connected to a Catalyst switch and grabbed an ip address (10.2.x.x subnet) no problem. I can access the 5508 via https using the SP. However, port 1 is connected to the same Catalyst switch, but on a different vlan (subnet 10.20.x.x). Both ends show that the interfaces are up, I can ping the interface from any other host on the network, but when I try to manage the device via https I cannot connect. We are using WCS and I cannot add the device from the WCS. About all I can do is ping that interface.
I came across this issue with a number of APs in an installtion last week. All APs were new LAP1142s and the controller is 5508.None of the APs (14 in all ) were able to join the controller.Actually they started the joining process , but it seems to get disconnected in between.I am pasting the output below.
Interestingly the issue was resloved after i Resetted All the LAPs again. (all 14 of them worked fine after the reset , but there were no prior configurations on the LAPs , they were just opened From The Box).

I have to realize a connection between an 5508 WLC and 3750 switch using one SFP cable. I found on Cisco documentation some reference about two different SFP cables. The first one is CAB-SFP-50CM, but this is used to interconnect two 3560 switches. The second is SFP-H10GB-CU1M. This one has SFP+ transceivers on both ends which I don’t know if are compatible with the standard SFP ports that can be found both on WLC and switch.
My question is if I can use one of these cables in order to connect my devices, or if you know other one piece SFP cables.
We are experimenting with virtual machines running on some laptops here as part of a future deployment.Equipment in use:
-5508 WLC
-1262 LWAP
The actual operating system has no issues connecting to the wireless. When you start the virtual machine on any client machine (OSX, Win 7, Win XP, anything) it is unable to get an IP through an external DHCP server when the VM is set up to use a bridged connection. This works fine with Autonomous access points and over cable all mapped to the same VLAN. Helper addresses are configured on the VLAN.Is this a limitation of the WLC where it cannot provide more than one IP address per MAC? Is it a limitation of CAPWAP? Or is there an option to turn of DHCP snooping (which I suspect to be the cause of the issue)?
I would like to set a time limit for how long a client can be continously connected to the WLAN that provides my guest internet access. The user name/password is hosted on my ACS and authentication is provided by my Cisco NAC. I am using 5508 controllers (7.02) and WCS.
Somewhere in this combination of stuff, there has to be a way to set a two hour time limit.
I have a device manufacture there are requesting the following change on a customer's WLC 5508.
-config advanced eap identity-request-timeout 60
-config advanced eap request-timeout 60
I have studied many guides but I can't find out if there is a down-side to setting the timeout this high.Could it result in slow roaming or re-authentication if there is a connection error? The customer have large areas with high client density and some outdoor areas with low client density.
We have a 5508 controller in main site.Which has two ports connected to local network.Management VLAN 500 is untagged and mapped to Port 1.All other interfaces are including 501 to 507 are mapped to Port 2.We have a SSID that is mapped to VLAN 501 interface , which successfully can be joined in main site.We connect an AP to remote site ;We have a remote site VLAN 115 which can be reached from main site.We connect an AP to access vlan 115 port on the remote site , we had described option 43 , so AP can successfully finds controller in local mode.
AP gets ip from VLAN 115 , can setup connection / ping controller successfully. There is a wide area connection between remote and main site.No trunk setup , the whole remote site is vlan 115.However when the client is trying to connect the test SSID , client cant get connected nor get ip address.Local switching is disabled. For this setup , client comes to AP as a requested , AP tunnels traffic to controller from vlan 500 , controller lets the client get into wired platform from VLAN 501.
We recently did a forklift upgrade on our campus and installed 3502i's, 3502e's, and 11 5508 WLC's. Our students are complaining about slow connections in several areas of the campus. In our testing and basic trouble shooting our Apple laptops have no problems but our windows laptops are showing a very slow connection rates 264kbps downloand and 366kbps upload. The window device has current drivers installed.
