View 0 RepliesI am running PI1.2 virtual appliance (on ESXi 5.0). i had some issues and open a ticket to TAC. the TAC engineer requested me to send him the below:
/opt/CSCOlumos/logs/failed_inventory_feature.log
/opt/CSCOlumos/logs/ifm_inventory.log

My question is how do we get to the shell of PI1.2? i know we can get to the shell of LMS4.2. do we have access to shell of PI1.2 virtual appliance?
When I run installation process I have received unexpected error:I have windows 2008 R2 x64. Antivirus is disabled and I have administrator privilege.

As I understand that HA is possible with the use of veritas/vmware for windows/solaris; I was wondering what are the possible high availability options available with a pair of prime LMS appliances? Can it form active/secondary with data synchronization/data redundancy of the LMS on top of the traditional backup/restore of the lms?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am setting up a 3 host ESXi cluster. I am using a pair of stacked SG500-28 switches for switching redundancy. Each host has 8 NICs. 4 to each switch. I have successfully setup a 3 NIC LAG with 1 path to one switch and 2 paths to the other. These LAGs work. When I setup a 2NIC LAG via the console for management, and the associated ports on the switches, I lose managment communication with the host. Before setting up the LAG in the ESXi console, I set that vswitch properties to us IPHASH as instructed here bit.ly/VLaTEt I have attempted to follow those instructions as closely as possible. The one thing that I am wondering is whether the SG series supports etherchannel. I can't find any reference. Either way, it works on the other vswitch that is for vMotion. I can vmkping between the hosts over that LAG. But setting up a LAG on the management vSwitch doesn't?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm currently running CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 on Windows 2003 under VMware and just got upgrade licensing for Prime Infrastructure 1.2. I am assuming that I will need to upgrade the current server to Prime LMS 4.2 in order to ensure that data migration to Prime Infrastructure goes well. I am planning to follow Cisco's recommendation to run Prime LMS and Prime Infrastructure in parallel for a time and migrate individual functions.
My real question is about Syslog handling. All of the managed devices are currently sending Syslog data to LMS. As a last step in the migration, is it possible to change the IP address of the Prime Infrastructure server to replace the Prime LMS server so that the Prime Infrastructure server will just start getting all the Syslog data, or do I need to go change hundreds of managed devices to point to a new address?

I am having issues configuring a vLAN network card on a Debian stable (Squeeze) client. The client is running in a ESXi version 4.1 environment. There are two vLANs: vLAN 8 and vLAN 14. The client is in vLAN 14. The domain controllers (as well as DNS and ISA servers) are in vLAN 8. Windows clients behave fine and they can connect to other vLANs just fine. However, I just can't get the Debian client to connect to any other vLAN than its own.I tried several methods, and non worked successfully thus far.One of the problems is that the client should only use one IP address. Using the vLAN package, its assumed that you have a different IP for each vLAN (I think), so that doesn't work out. There is one other Linux machine in the network. An Ubuntu client being in vLAN 8. That client works as it should and can ping to both local, and other vLANs.Until this problem is fixed, it is impossible to connect to the internet (because the ISA, DNS and DCs are in vLAN 8) so each time I want to install a package, I have to download either the .deb packages manually, or download source tarballs and then create an iso of those files, mount the iso and install the packages. You can imagine how much effort that costs.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the following devices :
-1 VM Host
-2 Layer 3 switches
I would like to provide full redundancy for all vlans being used by VM Guests on the VM Host as well as the management vlan being used by the VM Host.I have created two LACP etherchannel connections on the VM Host. Each etherchannel from the host consists of 4 ports spanning a single NIC. One etherchannel connection goes to a trunked etherchannel connection on switch 1, and the other etherchannel connection goes to a trunked etherchannel connection on switch 2.Switch 1 and switch 2 have an etherchannel connection between them that carries all of the vlans in the topology.Vlan 2 is the managment vlan. Vlans 3, 4, and 5 are vlans that VM guest systems will be using for normal data traffic.
I intend to use switch 1 as the VRRP active router and spanning-tree root bridge for vlans 2 and 3.I intend to use switch 2 as the VRRP active router and spanning-tree root bridge for vlans 4 and 5.The spanning-tree configuration is using multiple spanning-tree with two instances. Instance 1 has vlans 2 and 3 associated and Instance 2 has vlans 4 and 5 associated. I would like to have this topology be fault tolerant to the point where if one of the etherchannel links between the host and one of the switches goes down, (for example, if switch 1 was powered off) traffic will be automatically redirected through the other functional link. I believe that my VRRP configuration would allow for a fairly quick failover of layer 3 services, but I am not certain that my design will be functional at a layer 2 level.
What I am uncertain about is how spanning-tree will converge. I am assuming that the virtual switch on the VM host will not be forwarding any BPDUs being sent by either switch. Would either of the links connecting to the host be considered a redundant link by either switch?Would the link between switch 2 and the host be inactive for all vlans in MST instance 1 during normal operation?Conversely, would the link between switch 1 and the host be inactive for all vlans in MST instance 2 during normal operation? Would all links remain active for ALL vlans? Would this mean that some traffic may travel through switch 2 to reach switch 1 instead of going directly to switch 1?
I recently installed LMS 4.2 appliance and I noticed that the web administration page was really slow. I checked the CPU utilization in VMware and it was at 55%.

Is it better to uninstall LMS 4.0 completely and then install LMS 4.2 or could I do a direct upgrade?. I've heard the db tables etc. have changed a lot and might cause problems for a direct upgrade.

Is there anyway to migrate off of WCS to Prime NCS? We have a fully built WCS system with maps and all configs and was wondering if there was a way to restore to NCS.
View 1 Replies View Related[URL] it mentions that migrating from NCS 1.1.2 to CPI 1.2 isn't possible.
How can I get around this?
A customer is asking to upgrade their LMS 3.0 to Prime 1.1. However, the customer or their previous system's integrator never actually installed LMS 3.0. The licensing and PAK were never used as well. My question is, can I still use the migration top level part # R-PI-1.1-UP-K9 to upgrade LMS 3.0 to Prime 1.1 because there was no licensing ever installed? How would the migration of the current licensing work with the new licensing PAK if that is the case? Or does the customer have to purchase a fresh Prime 1.1 licensing (top level part # R-PI-1.1-K9) because LMS 3.0 was never installed?

I'm trying to migrate old data from WCS 7.0 to Prime 1.2 ... I have already created the zip file from WCS and imported it into the defaultRepo on Prime. I see it in the directory when I do a show repository defaultRepo so I have confirmed that it is there. My issue is that it appears Prime 1.2.1.012 won't accept the cli command of ncs migrate.
how I can proceed with the migration? I haven't been able to find any similar command in the Prime CLI so at this point I'm lost as to where I should go from here. I really don't want to have to tell the customer they have to downgrade to Prime 1.1 in order for them to perserve their maps especially since the Deployment Guide for Prime Infrastructure states that it is possible to migrate date from WCS 7.0 to Prime 1.2 as shown below ...

Data can be migrated from WCS 7.0, NCS 1.1, or LMS 4.x. More details on migrating data from each of these applications are spelled out in the following sections.
