I have a RV220W setup with SSL VPN users, authenticating to an internal Active Directory. Maybe 5 ports forwarded and 8 external IP addresses. Besides this i have 1 data VLAN and a voice vlan on my network.
The reboots are on different times on a day, even on Sundays at 7 AM when noone is logged in to the network.FW is at 1.0.4.17.
I just bought a RV220W. One of the features I need to setup is a daily wireless plan, i.e. parental control: my wireless connection needs to be open at different times depending on the day, for 2 specific wireless devices, while others wireless devices have continuous access. Unfortunately, the wireless schedule only lets me set up one start/stop time only (i.e. the same one every day).
I noticed that I could possibly set up a firewall access rule with a specific schedule, but I have no idea if this would work, and how to set it up. My basic idea was then to open the wireless SSID I want to control from 7.30am to 11pm every day, and then add a firewall rule that would close the access to the said devices (using their MAC address) from say 10-11pm on given days... But I am not quite sure how to set this up.
I recently purchased the RV220W to upgrade by good, but aging RV042. I'm running the most recent firmware (1.0.2.4 as of this writing) and have noticed this router reboots daily. I'm guessing it's locking up and rebooting as it occurs as different times of the day. Compared to the RV042, this was a bit of a pain to setup especially with regard to port forwarding. I'm hesitant to reset and start over again especially since this is brand new.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recentlydeployed a RV220W and got it mostly working for the environment. One issue: remote users connecting from different locations. I set up QuickVPN to accomodate them, which seems to 'kinda' work. 'Kinda' because I have to reboot the RV220W each day before the clients can connect succesfully. The clients run a mix of WinXP-32, WinVista-32 and Win7-64. All other settings in the QuickVPN client have been verified for each user. They each have the latest verion of QuickVPN and the RV220W firmware is at the latest version. The networks at the remote locations are not numbered the same as the host location.
The clients work several times a day, but the RV220W needs to be rebooted every morning. Is this a known problem with a work around? Is there a better solution for VPN access from Vista-32 and Win 7-64?
I've got a RV220W that for some reason has started acting a bit strange. A couple of times a day the network stops functioning, both wireless and wired. At first I thought this had to do with my newly installed laptop, that it maybe caused some hickup that made the router reboot but even when it's turned off I can still read in the logs of my NAS server (Qnap TS-419P+) that "Lan 1 is down" followed by a "Lan 1 is up" a couple of minutes after.
The things connected to the network by wire is my Macbook Pro (2012), the Qnap and an LG home theater system and the wireless devices are a couple of iPhones and an iPad. The problems started after new years eve and I've been running the latest firmware (1.0.4.17) for a few weeks before that.
How do I stop the rv220w from continuously rebooting?

our RV220W router has been experiencing random reboots throughout the day, causing a network outage for our local network for the few minutes it takes for the router to start up again. We've seen it reboot at least 5 today alone (and the time is currently just a little over 1pm).I'm having trouble finding the reason for these reboots in the router's logs, although I find these two lines repeating in the error log:

I'm not sure why these messages pop up, since we're not using the bandwidth limiter module of the router (granted, we do use QoS profiles to ensure our own LAN is prioritized over the guest VLAN). I'm also not sure whether this is related to the router reboots.
I also find the following repeated line in the warning log:

The router is currently running on firmware version 1.0.4.17 (latest official release), since we needed support for hairpin connections (as I found out in a previous thread of mine). I've seen the suggestion of downgrading to a previous firmware version in another thread, which has possibly solved it for the poster in that thread, but as we really need the hairpinning support, I don't know which firmware version is safe enough to downgrade it to, if needed.
I have observed a situation where one of our cisco switch 3560 is rebooting daily at periodic times.We have checked the power cables and source everything is fine and still clueless whats causing the issue. [code]

When extertnal they work by name just fine, so the firewall's working Ok. But when on the LAN they fail.
When I look at the port forwarding rules, I see Outside -> Inside, but there's no Inside -> Inside..
How can my LAN users use DNS Names/Ports that are on the WAN interface,,. so when they come between the WAN and LAN their apps continue to work ?
We assign (reserve by MAC actually) static IPs to all of our devices. Over time we have gotten rid of some devices but haven't begun (or finished really) re-using the old IPs. On our WRVS4400N v2 routers we are able to set the max number of DHCP users per Vlan. This prevents unauthorized devices trying to connect to our LAN.For example. I set the range from 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.103. IPs 100, 101, and 103 are in use (reserved via MAC address). We set max number of DHCP users to 3. This prevents someone from gaining access to 192.168.1.102. Does this make sense? Or at least this was the initial goal and it tested out successfully back when we implemented it.
How can I do the same for with the RV220W? I can set the range, assign static IPs (reserve IPs by MAC address), but can't keep others from gaining accessing to our LAN via the unused IPs (not assigned a static IP).My initial thought was to create static IPs (for the unused IPs) using dummy MAC addresses. I'm sure there is a much better way of accomplishing what I am trying to do.
is it possible to share the same network segment like my LAN for mobile users? In a so called bridge mode? I got a VPN tunnel to a customer from my local network and i need to access it within the mobile access. I can not change the VPN Site to Site tunnel.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two offices connected with an IPSEC VPN tunnel using RV220W routers. The Tunnel works fine for local users between the two sites(Site 1:10.0.0.x; site 2 is 10.0.2.x). I have also set up PPTP users for remote access. PPTP users that connect to site 1 cannot access site 2 and vice versa. The PPTP users have no trouble accessing the resources on the site that they connect to. I have tried activating RIP and adding various static routes with no success. If I PPTP connect to site 1 and I tracert to an IP address on site 2 the route goes to the site 1 router and then goes to the internet(connected to the site 1 router) where it stops.

After successfully setting up the QuickVPN and connecting, I am confused about how to setup the router (if possible) so I can run applications remotely. View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco RV220W updated to latest firmware 1.0.4.17. I have been trying to get a VPN setup for the past few days without success. We had a test VPN up and running previously, but when we changed the IP's and secret key to connect the live VPN tunnel it failed and we haven't been able to get it working since.We have deleted both ends, rebuilt them probably 6 times each. We have changed secret keys, tried 3DES, AES, and AES256 encryptions with SHA-1. All the internal IP settings are correct :IE 192.168.1.1/24 or 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0,External IP's are right, only oddball thing here is one of the external IP's is assigned by DHCP and is a /22 although the previous tunnel worked with the same ISP.

I have a new SRP 541W with v. 1.2.4 firmware.
Daily, (random times) I have to do a hard reset in order to get the wireless up and running. It works great and then with no warning, no other issues, the wireless just stops. The wired connections still work just fine.
Everything comes up perfectly fine after it reboots, until the next day when I have to reboot it again.

The topology I want to achieve is as follows:
[WAN] --> [VDSL modem from ISP] --> [Cisco RV220W] --> [LAN]
Our LAN should have 2 VLANs; one for our servers and clients belonging to the company (servers are on public IPs, while clients have LAN IPs), and one for guest users (visitors and other outsiders who are given Internet access from us).
Our current network setup works just fine, using a bridged firewall server between the VDSL modem and the network switch (where all the other servers are connected), and internal users are routed through either a WLAN router or another server. The RV220W will replace the WLAN router as well as the routing and firewall servers, combining these tasks into one.
The target network setup would have three "zones";the servers (using IPs 213.x.x.0/26, static assignments, no DHCP), local LAN for employees (cable, WLAN or VPN with PPTP - using IPs 192.168.15.x/24 assigned by DHCP, compatible with the existing setup), and local LAN for visitors/guests (WLAN only, using IPs 192.168.0.x/24 assigned by DHCP).
From the RV220W's admin interface itself, I'm able to ping outside IP addresses, but neither the test server on the public IP or the test client on the local IP seems to be able to ping the outside, or eachother (ie. from the client's local IP to the server's public IP).
The Rv220W is already in router mode (ie. not in NAT mode), and the LAN ports are properly tagged for each network segment.
I have a RV120W that reboots itself when the WAN (ADSL modem) breaks away. With an old D-Link low end router, reconnecting after a failure is completed after 5 seconds and nobody cares, but the RV rebooting takes almost 2 minutes which is actually noticed...I also have some trouble getting VPN running, QuickVPN as well as normal IPsec, using either Shrewsoft or Greenbow as clients. get this router running with 3rd party VPN clients?

I have a simple home/small business setup. A single PC wired into the lan and a handful of occasional use laptops & Android phones/tablets and a Playstation.My connection is a 30M down / 5M up cable link. I have a UBEE DOCSYS 3.0 cable modem operating in passthru mode to my RV110W.
Over the course of several days, thruput drops from the measured 30/5 down to as low as 1/whatever. Rebooting the RV110W restored full speed. The UBEE has never been rebooted during this time. Connecting my wired desktop PC directly to the UBEE modem give me the full 30 downlink speed even when the RV110W perfomance has dropped to 5 or even 1.
I am using onle a single wireless LAN, no logging turned on, no VPN, no other 'tuning of settings.As it is, this device must be rebooted every few days to restore full network speed. This is unacceptable, of course - especially from a small business class device!
