Mar 13, 2012I have tried to update firmware on a RV220W. Something stopped and now it won`t start. The power led blinks a few times and goes off, the LAN and WAN port wich is connected is lit. I have tried 10 seconds reset button but nothing happens.

Mar 21, 2013I recentlydeployed a RV220W and got it mostly working for the environment. One issue: remote users connecting from different locations. I set up QuickVPN to accomodate them, which seems to 'kinda' work. 'Kinda' because I have to reboot the RV220W each day before the clients can connect succesfully. The clients run a mix of WinXP-32, WinVista-32 and Win7-64. All other settings in the QuickVPN client have been verified for each user. They each have the latest verion of QuickVPN and the RV220W firmware is at the latest version. The networks at the remote locations are not numbered the same as the host location.
The clients work several times a day, but the RV220W needs to be rebooted every morning. Is this a known problem with a work around? Is there a better solution for VPN access from Vista-32 and Win 7-64?

Oct 20, 2011Is there any timeframe on an update for the RV220W firmware? I have had to take mine out of production due to it freezing up/locking up under medium loads. DNS queries (dig) don't respond, pings outside of the network don't respond. Pings to the router DO respond. SSH responds but I have no login info to proceed further. The config (web) page doesn't respond. Interesting enough nntp (news groups) DO respond and download fine. Eventually the unit catches up and the config page shows back up. I wish there was a way to login via the ssh to see what is going on internally with processes. I will have to find time eventually. Right now my old Linksys 54G with DD-WRT is smoking the Cisco router's performance.

Dec 23, 2011I noticed one awkward thing with the latest 1.0.3.5 firmware for the Cisco Small Business RV220W router, with previous firmwares there has always been reported 128mb of system memory (RAM) under the router dashboard. And several "teardowns" of this router has confirmed it to have 128mb of memory on the router board.
Does that mean the latest 1.0.3.5 has an odd visual bug, or has the RV220W gotten it's memory sliced in half with this firmware release?

Unfortunately I was not able to configure the router for vlan purpose 'cause the "Port VLAN" point was missing in the webinterface. I performed several factory reset but it didnt work for me - so I got back to firmware 1.0.1.0.

Sep 4, 2011I've previously upgraded the firmware on our RV220W from 1.0.0.26 to 1.0.1.0 without any problems but all attempts to upgrade to the latest version 1.0.2.4 fails with the following message "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware". The router then automatically reboots with the current firmware.
We've already tried re-downloading and applying the update from several different machines using different operating systems and browsers without success. How to apply this firmware version successfully? We really need one of the VLAN fixes included in this latest version!

I have 5 static IP Addresses. I want to use one of the IP addresses to setup remote access using Remote Desktop Connection from outside the office using port address translation. for example i would like to use RDC and a specific port such as 7000 and connect to an internal PC on port 3389. sounds simple. i do this all the time on Cisco ASA's, Netgear, D-link, etc. but for the life of me cannot do it on this cisco firewall. so the port address should look like 25.25.25.25:7000 and connect to 192.168.1.25:3389. i have tried everything based on the posts without luck.

Apr 13, 2012I have a Cisco rv220w. I just tried updating the firmware. I used RV220W-Firmware-1.0.3.5.img. It rebooted, and now there is no DHCP and no access to anything. I tried the reset button for 10 seconds. That didn't do anything. The WAN and all the LAN lights light up. Power is on and solid. The light blinks alternating between the DMZ and the blank space to the right of wireless. How can I get this back to factory defaults?

Jan 24, 2013I have 3560X-24T-S switches with IP Services loaded at remote sites that I have been having troubles with. Originally, they had IOS 12.2(58)SE1 on them. I have up to four diverse paths via point-to-point microwave at the remote sites. The Microwave equipment is by Microwave Networks and is a Prodeus M series which Ethernet support. The original issue manifested itself as hardware loopback errors on some of the ports that were connected to the microwave links.
My experience in the past has been that when a hardware loopback error occurred it is usually a bad switch port. In this case however, if I disconnected all of the microwave Ethernet links and rebooted the switch and then connected the Ethernet connections to the microwave links again, everything works fine. No hardware loopback errors. That is, until the next switch reboot. Then the hardware loopback error would return. Interestingly, it would come back on different ports connected to the microwave links every time. So if a reboot was done without disconnecting the microwave Ethernet links the hardware loopback error would change from one microwave link to another after each reboot.
I then went through and read the lengthy release notes for IOS version 15.0(2)SE and found several fixes that I thought could fix my issue. So I downloaded it and updated a couple of the offending switches (not all of them were having this problem). After going through the second update required to resolve the 'open file error' that happens going between 12.2(58)SE1 and 15.0(2)SE the problem seemed to be resolved on the offending switches. So, I went ahead and updated the IOS on all of the switches with point-to-point microwave connections.
I now have one switch that was updated that is crashing and rebooting continuously when the Ethernet links for the point-to-point microwave are connected. Again, if I disconnect all the microwave links and reboot, it comes up fine ands stays fine when the microwave links are connected back up. It will work fine until the next reboot and then the crash and reboot loop starts over again. Below is a portion of the putty log when the crash occurs:

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Upgraded To Firmware 1.0.1.0 And Now PPPoE Doesn't Connect
Mar 30, 2011When my RV220W used firmware 1.0.0.26 the PPPoE login to AT&T/Bellsouth DSL worked just fine. I upgraded to version 1.0.1.0 and now it won't connect. The PPPoE connection still works from my prior Linksys router so there wasn't a change on the ISP side. Has something changed in firmware 1.0.1.0 that requires a change to the PPPoE profile?
DSL Modem is a Motorola Netopia (model 2210-02) with firmware 7.7.3r10 operating in Bridged mode.

Mar 10, 2013I have a RV220W running 1.0.1.0. When trying to upgrade to 1.0.4.17 I receive an error: "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware".

I assume I have to do a factory reset then an upgrade in order to upgrade properly.
If I do a backup running 1.0.1.0, then upgrade to 1.0.4.17, then do a restore, would that put me back to 1.0.1.0? I'm trying to avoid configuring the router manually all over again.

It reboots randomly every day and I got the following message in the log: [rv220w] System][FIREWALL] fwPPTPGenericRules.c: inet_aton failed I saw one internet that I can ask cisco for the Beta firmware 1.0.4.6 that fix the issues(Iactually use 1.0.4.17). Is it the solution? How can I obtain the beta firmware?

Oct 25, 2012Our 6500 was reboot by self with crash info and i found it was happened by CPU HOG. The log is below for CPU HOG and you can see many times from attached crash info file.

Apr 24, 2013I have a WS-C3560X-24 and attached to that are some 9 acces switches, for some weeks now my 3560 reboots some time what couse that the other 9 switches are down for some minuts as well and i dont want this of course. the reboot happens at random times and some times one week not and then like yesterday afternoon it rebooted again.
when i check the Flash directory there is no crash file and when i look at the logging its clean and just shows the startup. it's not the powersuply it's redundend and more L3 switches are attached to this power source and they dont reboot.

One WLC was rebooted few days ago but there was no crash file and nothing in logs say why this issue happened.There was a power problem at the same time the WLC rebooted (some switches and PE's was rebooted as well) but if it is a power issue why only one WLC inside the WiSM rebooted and the other WLC is still working fine with no reboot?I have 5 WiSM modules connected to the same 6500 box, only one WLC was rebooted which indicates a crash but no crash file registered for it.Is there anyway I can find the reason why that WLC was rebooted?

So according to their documentation, the server in question would need to be configured with a private IP. Unfortunately, one of the applications I use is licensed via IP address and my understanding is that I cannot use the software with private/non-routable IP addresses.
Is the RV220W capable of not only securing the line (firewall, access rules, content filtering, port trigering & forwarding etc) but also doing what I was hoping to do (keeping the external IP's on the server, and routing appropriately)?

May 15, 2012I'm using a RV220W router, and recently got shifted to a dynamic IP solution.Now, I've got a no-ip.org address, but the update service seems to be on no-ip.com. So, I try to enter mydomain.no-ip.org OR mydomain.no-ip.com in the dynamic dns settings, under Host and Domain Name, but when saving the settings it says
'The hostname specified does not exist in this user account' ,which seems to indicate that it manages to login to the update service but gets a negative reply.Is it possible to use the RV220W with no-ip.org/com?
Cisco Routers :: RV220W Won't Allow Web Access Across VPN
Dec 12, 2012We have 2 sites connected thru 2 RV220W routers via VPN and most things are working fine. I have noticed however, that any device that has a web interface, i.e. our Sharp Copier and our Freenas server, is inaccessible. The page tries to come up but then I get the Cisco "server is down" page generated by the RV220W.
I can pull up the web interface pages if I use a machine on the local LAN but not on any machine across the VPN. The only commonality I can think of is the RV220W blocking that traffic for some reason..

Nov 27, 2011Is there anyway to associate a name to an IP in the RV220W? I am coming from a WRVS4400N v2. Folks are complaining that they can't connect, for example via Real VNC, via the PC name any longer. They have to use the IP address. In the past I put the names of the PCs in the WRVS4400N when I reserved IPs via MAC addresses (some call this assigning static IPs). There isn't any place in the RV220W to put the name. Even when I look at the DHCP list a lot of them show up as "unknown". I am sure this is a NETBIOS thing but I'd rather fix this in the router as I have always done in the past.
