Cisco Routers :: RV220W Randomly Reboots - How To Obtain Beta Firmware
Nov 5, 2012
I have a problem with my RV220W.
It reboots randomly every day and I got the following message in the log: [rv220w] System][FIREWALL] fwPPTPGenericRules.c: inet_aton failed I saw one internet that I can ask cisco for the Beta firmware 1.0.4.6 that fix the issues(Iactually use 1.0.4.17). Is it the solution? How can I obtain the beta firmware?
I recently purchased the RV220W to upgrade by good, but aging RV042. I'm running the most recent firmware (1.0.2.4 as of this writing) and have noticed this router reboots daily. I'm guessing it's locking up and rebooting as it occurs as different times of the day. Compared to the RV042, this was a bit of a pain to setup especially with regard to port forwarding. I'm hesitant to reset and start over again especially since this is brand new.
i have a RV220W and absolutely nothings functional on this stupid Router, no NAT , no Port Forwarding and I cant access my Network from Outside. Any firmware link for downloading. This address works, its handling special webrequest.
Is there any timeframe on an update for the RV220W firmware? I have had to take mine out of production due to it freezing up/locking up under medium loads. DNS queries (dig) don't respond, pings outside of the network don't respond. Pings to the router DO respond. SSH responds but I have no login info to proceed further. The config (web) page doesn't respond. Interesting enough nntp (news groups) DO respond and download fine. Eventually the unit catches up and the config page shows back up. I wish there was a way to login via the ssh to see what is going on internally with processes. I will have to find time eventually. Right now my old Linksys 54G with DD-WRT is smoking the Cisco router's performance.
I noticed one awkward thing with the latest 1.0.3.5 firmware for the Cisco Small Business RV220W router, with previous firmwares there has always been reported 128mb of system memory (RAM) under the router dashboard. And several "teardowns" of this router has confirmed it to have 128mb of memory on the router board.
Does that mean the latest 1.0.3.5 has an odd visual bug, or has the RV220W gotten it's memory sliced in half with this firmware release?
I have tried to update firmware on a RV220W. Something stopped and now it won`t start. The power led blinks a few times and goes off, the LAN and WAN port wich is connected is lit. I have tried 10 seconds reset button but nothing happens.
I just bought an RV220w. My first act was updating th firmware to 1.0.2.4. Unfortunately I was not able to configure the router for vlan purpose 'cause the "Port VLAN" point was missing in the webinterface. I performed several factory reset but it didnt work for me - so I got back to firmware 1.0.1.0.
I've previously upgraded the firmware on our RV220W from 1.0.0.26 to 1.0.1.0 without any problems but all attempts to upgrade to the latest version 1.0.2.4 fails with the following message "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware". The router then automatically reboots with the current firmware.
We've already tried re-downloading and applying the update from several different machines using different operating systems and browsers without success. How to apply this firmware version successfully? We really need one of the VLAN fixes included in this latest version!
I have read every post here about port forwarding on the RV220W and none are clear. Here is my scenario.
I have 5 static IP Addresses. I want to use one of the IP addresses to setup remote access using Remote Desktop Connection from outside the office using port address translation. for example i would like to use RDC and a specific port such as 7000 and connect to an internal PC on port 3389. sounds simple. i do this all the time on Cisco ASA's, Netgear, D-link, etc. but for the life of me cannot do it on this cisco firewall. so the port address should look like 25.25.25.25:7000 and connect to 192.168.1.25:3389. i have tried everything based on the posts without luck.
I have a Cisco rv220w. I just tried updating the firmware. I used RV220W-Firmware-1.0.3.5.img. It rebooted, and now there is no DHCP and no access to anything. I tried the reset button for 10 seconds. That didn't do anything. The WAN and all the LAN lights light up. Power is on and solid. The light blinks alternating between the DMZ and the blank space to the right of wireless. How can I get this back to factory defaults?
When my RV220W used firmware 1.0.0.26 the PPPoE login to AT&T/Bellsouth DSL worked just fine. I upgraded to version 1.0.1.0 and now it won't connect. The PPPoE connection still works from my prior Linksys router so there wasn't a change on the ISP side. Has something changed in firmware 1.0.1.0 that requires a change to the PPPoE profile?
DSL Modem is a Motorola Netopia (model 2210-02) with firmware 7.7.3r10 operating in Bridged mode.
I have a RV220W running 1.0.1.0. When trying to upgrade to 1.0.4.17 I receive an error: "Upgrade failed due to invalid/corrupted firmware".
I found this article: [URL]
I assume I have to do a factory reset then an upgrade in order to upgrade properly.
If I do a backup running 1.0.1.0, then upgrade to 1.0.4.17, then do a restore, would that put me back to 1.0.1.0? I'm trying to avoid configuring the router manually all over again.
From an older manual it describes how to configure this. I installed the oldest firmware available for download and this feature is there. Was this just simply moved somewhere else in the newer firmware?
Configuring Port VLANs You can associate VLANS on the Cisco RV220W to the LAN ports on the device. By default, all 4 ports belong to VLAN1. You can edit these ports to associate them
RV042G users on the Comcast network, we are looking for beta testers. If you have a RV042G on the Comcast network so we can see if you can be a tester of some new code that Cisco has.
I'm running a D-Link DIR-655 Hardware Version A3, Firmware Version 1.21. In the past, it has been flaky, and I considered updating to the latest firmware (1.3+ something), but everywhere I read (mainly this forum) said it might be WORSE for the router and couldn't even be downgraded, so I decided to ride it out.
Eventually the problem disappeared and I forgot about it, but now it's back with a vengeance. Recently I opened up a Guest Zone so my neighbors could borrow wifi, and I occasionally run torrents. Torrenting seems to definitely crash the router overnight, while it also seems to randomly bug out, possibly when the neighbors are using the Guest Zone. The Guest Zone might be responsible, but I have no idea.
For what it's worth, I don't think my neighbors are terribly tech-savvy, so I doubt they're filesharing or doing anything risky. They might have malware installed, but I don't know.
Is there a way I can diagnosis my precise issue, should I go ahead and update to the latest firmware to try?
I am setting up a dual WAN network in our small business office and I am confussed on the set up of the RV042.
On WAN1 I have a satellite modem connected
On WAN2 I have a cradlepoint CTR35 Router with a verizon aircard
The satellite has lag issues and will drop out during poor weather but has a 17GB dowload limit. The verizon aircard has only 5GB download limit but normally works in poor weather. Code...
Do I select obtain DNS automatically on both WAN1 and 2? Do I set this up as a gateway or a router?
I've began having problems with the WRV210 where the router just reboots. Sometimes it may go for an hour or more then it slips into a series of reboots. The up time varies so I see no pattern. Contacted support they thought the device may have been defective so we did a RMA. Well guess what? The replacement arrived on Friday we put it in place and the same thing is happening. We are not using any of the VPN or VL options. Just simple PAT to a few internal machines for RDP access and an internal exchange server. The Qos is all disabled. It has the newest firmware which I have reflashed. I'm at a loss to explain the behavior but it doesn't appear to be isolated to a defective device.
I have an ongoing problem with my WRVS4400N router. It reboots on it's own when streaming video through a wireless connection (computer, xbox, roku, tv). Once I make a wired conection, it performs flawlessly. The firmware is up to date. I have read some reviews of this router on Amazon stating the same problem, but I expected it to be solved with firmware update. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
I have problem with RV120W router, device reboots very often ( up to 3-4 times during working day ), firmware is up to date ( 1.0.4.10 ), last week I decided to use "restore the factory defaults" unfortunately problem still exists.
Router is working in small office, there are 3 PC and 3 VOIP phones ( connected via LAN ) and 1-2 devices connected via wireless ( smartphones )
I've tried to view some logs but unfortunately no luck, can see some errors/warnings in dashboard ( see attached picture ) but cannot see more details ( log configuration wrong ? )
Additionally sometime I can see that CPU utilization is 100%
I just got a new RV042. V3 Hw.For setup and testing before putting it in action, I've attached the WAN1 side to my internal network. But it fails to get an IP address, and the log shows: "Infinite lease time, exiting".My current router on the LAN is giving out DHCP addresses with 3 hour lease time, and I've checked with the PC's on the LAN that this is correct. The routers DHCP status shows that the lease time for the RV042 is 3 hours ahead. So why does the RV042 complain about long lease time ?Is there a way to avoid this error from occurring?
I have tried to change from 'Gateway' to 'Router', but this does not change anything. Also tried a factory reset, with no luck.Fw is upgraded to the latest 4.0.4.02
I have a N750 and I want to change the IP address through the browser. It is the standard 192.168.2.1 config. I change the IP to 192.168.15.x while hard wired and hit apply. The router reboots but still holds the same IP.
I have a f9k1113 V1 or AC 1200 wireless router. I opened RDP - remote desktop to my home pc. Everytime i try to connect from the internet to my home pc the router reboots. I never get connected. It seems when the router sees that type of traffic it reboots.
I had problem accessing to my yahoo mail (Beta) half way replying an email in yahoo itself, 9 hours ago. Since then, I can't log on to yahoo mail eventhough yahoo homa page is working. No problem with yahoo-ing for news but just the mail. I tried these links thourh google search:You may be able to get to your mail with one of these links.http:[url]... Or: http:[url].... . but every time the links show a dead-end, "Error encountered processing your last request! We have run into a problem processing your last request! Refreshing the page may fix the problem, or use the link below to return to your Inbox." while no link to be found.I am also using microsoft outlook 2010 for a separate email address. Just don't know how to import yahoo mail.Is it a problem with yahoo beta? or yahoo mail in general?
N+ requires constant reboots to maintain speed. When I reboot the router F5D8235-4 v3 it will run at top speed of 10mbps, after a day or two it slows to about 2mpbs. A reboot will speed it up again. I would prefer that it run fast all the time. Firmware 3.00.15
I have a crappy router/modem from comcast with two windows machines and a linux web server connected. I also have another router, a Linksys WRT54G with DDWRT firmware with WAN connected to the modem/router. The linux web server has a static IP, configured with /etc/network/interfaces The network goes down randomly. Disconnecting and rebooting the linux web server usually fixes it. It's possible that the WRT54G could be at fault as well. The problem is that I just don't have any information on what is happening on the network. (Well even if I had the information, I'm not sure I would know what to do with it) I installed wireshark, I figure I should just leave it running until the network goes down, then I can go through the packets and see if I see anything weird?
what exactly is QuickVPN?Is it a IPSec VPN?Is it a PPTP?Is it a SSLVPN?can I resolve my local hostnames? That means, can I configure a lokal DNS Server?
I am trying to setup and configure a VPN on the RV220W that uses IPSEC so I can use the Cisco VPN Client I use at work, I have gone through the user manual 11 or 12 times now but still cannot work it out. I cannot find where on the Rv200W iset up the phase 1 authentication username and password which will then lead me onto the phase 2 stage of asking for a username password to allow me access.
