in the last days i'm encountering some issue about ping on some 2950 access layer.These ones are directly connect (fiber trunk) to 4500 core switches. Ping response is very high between 200 up to 600 ms for a period about 30-40 seconds, then returns to normal valueI tried to ping every host connected to this 2950 and ping responses are normal 1ms or less.
View 7 RepliesI've connected a dslmodem/router to a fast ethernet port(fa0/1) on a 2620 router.There is a 2950 switch connected to the other port (fa0/0).I can ping the Internet via the router but and the switch but not from a host connected to the switch.I can't reach the dslmodem from the host pc.I've configured nat(overload) on the router.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been though the setup a couple of time with no luck pinging one pc to another from vlan 10 to vlan 20. I posted the running configs and some other information from my router and switch. I am relatively new to all of this so if you need me to post more information from the hardware let me know and Ill put it up. There are no firewalls in place and I know the cables are good because I switched them around to make sure. Also when I change the ip on my second machine for vlan 10 I can ping from one pc to the other but when I try the same for vlan 20 I get nothing.

My customer has various Cisco switches but only cisco 2950 switches has the problem of ping timeout or reply time is too long(average more than 2 sec). It will cause I Network Mangement software alarm always.

We have Cisco chassis 4500 with mix of 3560/2950 Edge switches 1GB backbones and WLC/WCS in place. The network is broken into multiple V LANS and IOS on our switches haven't been updated in 3-4 years.
On a wireless laptop (G) with get throughput of 1-2MB/s transfer speed with usually 10 clients per AP and LAN we get anywhere between 7-15 MB/s transfer. Using wire shark on a wireless laptop we see a lot broadcast traffic from other clients and the same for LAN. What is the best way to troubleshoot performance issues on the network and where do I start?
My wireless connection says i have full bars of signal. When I do a speed test, i get 500-600 kb/s download. Which is what I used to get. However, after I re-installed my wireless adapter's card, the wna3100 netgear, it became extremely slow.
Pages would load slow, I could no longer play League of Legends properly because the ping is too high. Also, I used to have crossfire graphics cards running and the internet was fine, but after reinstallation, I thought I'd turn it off because that's how I fixed it before. But now, even with just one graphics card running, the internet is extremely slow.

I have a phone line that comes into the house and then into gateway (10.0.0.2) then ethernet from that to linksys wifi router (192.168.1.1). So I did the following ping and repeated what you see below a few times to see that these results were broadly consistent, which was the case. One other person is connected to linksys via ethernet cord and they might have been on at the time. Questions are.... are these results consistent with contention caused by other user on the linksys? and why can I ping gateway but not the router? That makes no sense to me! I am not annoyed with the other person if he is hogging the network...I like him. I just wonder whats going on. When the internet works results from pinging are all as one would expect

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a gaming machine i ran for some time on a wireless connection. This connection had decent speeds but was unreliable and at times very slow (3000 vent ping). So me and my father fished some cat5e cable through some wall from our router to my room. We used some old external jacks verizon gave us and some 6 foot patch cables to connect the computer and router to the jacks. My problem is that once it wall all connected the lan speed has been terribly slow (several times slower than the wireless). Previously I used an ASUS pce-n13 wireless adapter and now the lan is running of the nvidia nforce on my Asus P5n-d motherboard. I am clueless to the problem and I have called Verizon and gotten nowhere.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts. I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3. Check it out. They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3. I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4. I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration. I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

View 4 Replies View RelatedTelco provided a BGP connection on MPLS network. When I connect router directly to Telco switch I can see BGP neighbor, so my router BGP config is OK. However, I need to put this router in a diffferent building and want to bring the connection over on a "trunk"; now I loose the BGP neighbor. I'm sure I did this before and it worked OK. I'm trunking between 2 x2950 switches using this config on each switch. [code]
I also configured the trunk as vlan 1214, which is the encapsulation provided by the Telco (dot1Q 1214).
Is it possible to run VTP V3 on 2950 and 2960 switches. If so what version of IOS supports V3? Our 2960s are running 12.2(25r)SEE1, and 2950s are running 12.1(22)EA4a. Neither of which supports v3.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had both a Westell 7500 and a Linksys Router working fine and had my 360 setup as an extender for Windows Media Center so I could stream TV, Music, Movies, etc from my desktop to the 360. Then I switched my modem/router out with a Zyxel PH5001Z
So now today I noticed that I can no longer find my desktop through the XBox. I have adjusted my firewall settings on the modem itself, even completely disabling it. UPnP is enabled for the 360 and the device is showing under my device table. At first I wasn't able to ping any network devices but after creating an ICMPv4 Firewall rule it worked fine. I've confirmed the XBox IP Address through Network Map, the Device Table on the modem and through Network Settings on the XBox. I've diabled my modem firewall as well as Windows Firewall, completely and I still can't ping my XBox or set it up as an Extender.
I have the XBox connected wirelessly using WPA2-Personal and it's operating in 802.11g/n mode.
Im looking to connect up 4 new pcs to network but I don't have enough wall ports. I thought I could plug cisco 2950 switch into the port on the wall and act like a hub. The switch configuration is default and there is only one vlan. How is it that it won't connect. Does it need a crossover cable.

Bought a used 2950 for CCNA labs. I have no IOS and cannot get a successful transfer via xmodem. In ROMmon after the transfer completes text shows up as gibberish, commands seem to work. Text is normal after I reconnect. Dir flash: doesn't show any sys image, only a -rwx file. I have tried various IOS versions. This was purchased used, so it's possible it isn't working. This is my first time configuring a switch, I might have missed something simple.

I just started configuring my cisco catalyst 2950 switch. Basically im preparing for my CCENT exams my basic configuration is as follows.
-My Laptop is connected to the console port
-I'm connected to the internet via my wireless
-I'm connected to the switch port via my NIC card

We are in a process to replace our old end of life switches( mostly Cisco 2950's) with some new offerings from cisco. Attached is our current network diagram. Anny merit of using Cisco Nexus switches in this design and also what will be the benifit in doing so.
