After performing a firmware upgrade on an SG300-20 switch from ver 1.1.0.73 to 1.2.5.70 the switch now boots up with the following error and resets:
30-Aug-2011 10:47:33 %L1Mngr-F-PARAMTOOLONG: csco-sb parameter %s is too long.
The attached file contains a full output of the console boot process. I have tried loading different versions from the console, but all produce the same error.
I have a couple of 3560 switches running c3560-advipservicesk9-mz.122-44 and they are randomly experiencing the following:
- The switch locks up with no preceding error message in the log (I am forwarding syslog to Splunk).
- Upon reboot, the switch goes through the normal startup sequence with no error messages, then for some reason reloads the flash and starts all over again. (refer to doc)
This could happen after days or weeks. Sometimes they will go through two of these reloads on boot and be fine for awhile, and other times they will be stuck in the loop infinitely. I am using this same image with all of our 3560s, but am only having this issue with two of them.
Trying to copy the system image file from the sup-bootflash to a new 64MB ATA flash card. Yes the software can support the 64MB card.
The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss.
The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command.The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.
I just purchased a used 1242AG which is running Version 12.4(13d)JA.I tried the mode button on power on holding for 2-3 seconds, but nothing happens and Cisco/Cisco login does not work. I have figured out if I hold the mode button in for 30 seconds while powering up I get an AP prompt.I tried doing a dir flash but get permission denied.Is their any commands I can run at AP prompt to attempt to reflash this unit or reset password somehow?

IOS = 32M
RAM = 64M
ROM VERSION = 12.2
However, when I power up my router, it goes into a boot loop, and I see the following messages:

how to overcome this error, and successfully upgrade, so I could load my new image?

We have a scheduled office move where we are consolidating 2 remote offices into one. I’ve been asked to spec out the correct size UPS to support all of the network equipment for this new office.I went to the Cisco website and I see on the datasheet for the switches and router where they talk about the wattages and BTU’s but how can I go about deciphering from that information what my total wattage and BTU will be for each switch and router?What numbers should I be looking at? For instance, we have 3 3750 48 port PoE switches. So if I look at the datasheet for that switch they have 4 different columns, one for 100% throughput power consumption, one for 5% throughput, another one for 100% throughput for max PoE load and one for 5% throughput with 50% PoE loads?Is there a common method for deremining UPS requipments? For the switches I pretty sure I need to assume max PoE load in the event every port has a phone plugged into each port.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 7204 vxr router that does not have a valid image on the boot flash or on the pcmcia card (disk 2). I tried everything i could to try and get the router to recognize the flash but it keeps giving me a magic card error. I'm losing my mind slowly but surely.
The router boots into Rommon every time and the Rommon options for this router are horrible. No tftpdnld option. Can I get this router to boot from tftp, from Rommon?
Every time I delete the directory flash and reinstall it, I get an error:
Error loading "flash:c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-12c.EA1.bin"
Error loading "flash:c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-12c.EA1.bin" Interrupt within 5 seconds to abort boot process.
That is the message I get. It's set to NO manual boot, but it keeps making me manually boot it. I am at a loss, I've done 3 switches and they all keep doing the same thing.
I have a 3560x switch with the flash formatted . I have tried to solve the problem by copying the IOS file to the flash. But the boot failed either .I have tried to copy the same IOS by the Xmodem, The boot failed again.My question is how to fixed the boot issues after the flash was formatted?

The minimum i found is 5 MB in compressed form but it is missing so many commands. that in 32 MB flash, how can I load image which has almost all the commands.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to load a spare compact flash with a running-config, ASA IOS, & ASDM software via card reader? I need to load another flash card with all of the settings necessary for normal operation. This "spare" card will replace the flash that is currently in use. The reason for the replacement is capacity and because of changes made to the running-config. The "in-use" card is 256MB, the "spare" one is 512MB. Also, the new card will have a few changes made to the running-config, so it will, in essence, be a reload.
I have a card reader for the compact flash cards. If there is a way to load up this new card using the card reader, without monkeying with the firewall, I would prefer that. Like I said in the previous paragraph, this new flash card will replace the other one, once it's ready.

I am trying to configure a switch that was given to me. They don't know the password to anything. I have already tried to recover it. The problem is, the switch doesn't load flash, or will copy flash from xmodem either. It also doesnt load the helper or boot. It is user mode and lets me do nothing. It doesnt let me use the enable command to get into it. I would like to start the config from scratch. Its a 3500xl switch, 24 ports. I dont know what to do with it. I am trying to study for my CCENT Exam and would like a switch that worked.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone knows to set up the switch so that when I'm connecting via SSH, the switch doesn't prompt for a username if I supply one in the initial connect request? For example, we usually connect by typing something like the following at a command prompt:
ssh johndoe@10.10.10.10
Then the switch would prompt for a password. I've tried this on the Cisco SF302 but it still prompts for a username, and then the password.
All my switches were connected together as ring topology. We use REP to block redundancy link.One of my colleagure was setting up a new link(VLAN) for one customer which was then caused a L2 loop. The CPU was hitting 100% and REP started to lost neighbors then we had a big outage.I am thinking to deploy QoS on all REP switch (on trunk links from switch to switch) to give priority to control traffic like REP and some importance data VLAN. We have a couple of cisco SGE switches connected to a single DELL, between the cisco switches we have a trunk interface. I'm not sure which setting should be configured on the switches to get it working because a loop is occuring.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an SG300-10P switch and am trying to use it to create a testing environment for a Fiber Test set. What I would like to do is get two hosts, A & B, plugged into ports 1 and 3 on the switch, to talk to each other, but forcing the traffic to be routed through the two Combo ports 9 & 10. Please see the attached diagram.I've attempted to configure two VLAN's, 10 and 20. Vlan 10 is used for traffic between Ports 1 and 9, Vlan 20 is used for traffic between Ports 3 and 10.I don't really care whether the traffic is tagged or untagged as it passes between ports 9 and 10.
I've tried various combinations of tagged/untagged ports, PVID's, etc. As a first test I've bypassed the Fiber Test set and simply created a direct connection between ports 9 and 10. I am unable to get the traffic from Host A to Host B to get routed through ports 9 and 10 (I ping each host from the other and get no response).
So the SG300's have STP on them and prevent network loops when other switches on the network also support STP too. However, if someone plugs in a non-managed switch that doesn't support STP with a network loop, is there anything within the SG300 switches to isolate and/or prevent that from happening?
(I currently have port mirroring turned on for one port and a network sniffer attached awaiting the incident to happen again).
I have a bunch of 3750x switches that each have a 10 gig routed link back to a central 4507 (loopback = 172.30.255.255).We carved up a /24 (of course, the /24 doesn't really exist except in our address tracking spreadsheet) into a bunch of /30's for routed WAN links and /32's for loopback addresses.We started on the low end for /30 subnets (ie 172.30.255.0/30, 172.30.255.4/30, etc.).We started at the high end for the /32 loopbacks (ie 172.30.255.255/32, 172.30.255.254/32, etc.)
Well, when I try pinging 172.30.255.255 from the access layer 3750x switches, the 3750x seems to be treating it as a broadcast ping where it lists each member that responds instead of the regular !!!!! response (this makes think something is odd with the 3750x). Of course, only one member responds (the core). But even the core seems to respond with the other end of the /30 instead of the actual /32 loopback (which makes me think something is odd in the core). I could have sworn that I've setup similar topologies without problems (ie, using 10.0.0.0/32, 10.255.255.255/32, etc as loopbacks) and as long as the mask is a /32, it should work.Also, I can ping/ssh to that loopback if my laptop is on a directly connected subnet. But I can't do it from any of the 3750x switches (which are also directly connected).I've double checked for overlapping subnets, but nope. I don't see any. Routing looks fine. The actual /32 is being propagated everywhere properly.
We have a Cisco 3750G Core switch which has physical connections, each configured as trunks to two HP Access switches. The client who uses these access switches would like to put a link between the two, but this would create a loop.

When I came back home today I saw that my SG200-08 switch did not look fine.Basically, the system LED of the switch keeps blinking and end devices connected just don't have any network.I tried to reset the switch with the "reset" button (with a paper clip) the system LED was orange during just a second and then continue to blink.What is wrong with the switch?Is there a way to flash a new firmware and/or to delete the configuration file?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a SG200-50P. It had a problem with the PoE ports (didn't supply power to my Bosch POE security cameras) so I updated it to the latest firmware. Now it does recognize the cemeras and supplies power to them. However, there are a few problems:
1. The boot time is extremely long, maybe 15-20 minutes for it to become ready. I've tried to reset to factory default settings, push the reset button for 30+ seconds, and disconnect all the ports. The boot time was always very long.
2. Even thought it supplies power to the cameras, the PoE lights on the ports are not lit.
3. The log is filled with this error, posted every second.
