I have cisco2811 and HWIC-1CE1T1-PRI in the main office are using to connect 10 branches ( 10 ISDN lines) for Data.
I have available channels in the used E1 so I can use them for voice using PVDM2-64 ?
I tried to configure a 2920 with a WIC=HWIC-1CE1T1-PRI. In the serial 0/0/0:23 I set the isdn switch type to primary-ni2c. When I then exit configure mode and show interface se0/0/0:23 the switch type has been changed to primary-ni. Is this normal?

1. I am trying to configure a cisco 2811 with FXS ports . I am using an NM-HD-2V with a VIC3-2FXS. I am using the right modules. Also I believe we need PVDM mosules installed in the NM-HD-2V. We have PVDM-12 modules. Will that work or is 2811 compatible only with PVDM2-xx modules.
2. We are also trying to configure a cisco 2811 with PRI port. We plan to use an NM-HD-2V and a VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. If they are correct and if we need only PVDM2-xx modules.
3. Also we are trying to configure a cisco 3845 with PRI and we plan to use the same as in 2811 that is NM-HD-2V, VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. And here also we are not sure if we need only PVDM2-xx DSP modules.

I am also not detecting the card on any show commands. Plus i am seeing that all the LEDs (FDX/COL,100 and LINK/ACT) are lit steadily even though there is no cable attached to it, is it safe to say that the card could be defective?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am currently trying to configure a four port ISDN BRI interface on a Cisco 2811 router.Upon upgrading to a later version of IOS, c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-25d.bin, access to the HWIC-4B-S/T module is lost, the router no longer detects it. In fact iI can only get the router to detect the module using the original IOS version c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-20.YA3.bin.
Is there some special feature needed in the IOS code to support these modules, if so what would be a suitable version/train to upgrade to?I have tried using the Cisco Software advisor tool but it generates an error when searching on a hardware configuration containing this module type.
The reason for upgrading the code is we have a potential bug with the current version which appears to be preventing the BRI interface syncing up with the providers switch (switch type correctly defined and provider confirms isdn line has been provisioned correctly).
The debug error seen is:
GMT: ISDN BR0/0/0 SERROR: L2_Go: at bailout DLCB is NULL
L2: sapi 63 tei 127 ces 0 ev 0x650
My main question though is why the module is not being detected after a code upgrade and if there is a specific code version/train needed to support this module in a 2811?
I am adding another ISP (and plan to use BGP). I am looking at having two 2811's with one connected to each ISP, or a single 2811 (with an additional HWIC) connected to both ISPs. I am not sure if there is a best practices or an ideal configuration for this.
Currently I have:
ASA5510 ---> 2811 ---> ISP_A
Should I purchase another 2811 for ISP_B and connect it to an available port on the ASA? Or should I just purchase a HWIC-1FE and add ISP_B to the existing router?
I see some advantages to both, but not sure the best way to go. Of course, I could be looking at this wrong and if I plan on buying another router then maybe I should use HSRP and both routers should connect to both ISPs.
Is there an ethernet WIC/HWIC that supports NAT for the 2811. I have one 4 port 10/100 card but it doesn't support NAT overload.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI intend to deploy a voice+data network using some old 3745 and 2811. The network in effect has six 3745 in a hybrid topology at different locations and each having three WIC-2T, one WIC-4T, three NMHDV-2E1. That's pretty much juicing out the maximum from these routers These will serve as my core routers and for access I will be using my 2811s with more VWICs and lesser WIC-2T to give voice and data to subscribers. The 2811s will have links to multiple 3745s. The NMHDV-2E1 will serve for the voice needs at the 3745 locations. All the WAN links will be E1. All my telephones will be on analog voice using traditional EPABX with CEPT/ PRI E1 cards for connecting to the routers. And for data, ethernet ports.Two of the routers will have E1 links to the PSTN and Internet which has to be extended to all my folks. Now, for the tricky part, all my network modules are refurbished stuff from ebay and all the ports will have links on them. I intend to use OSPF with only the backbone area.

But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.
I have few questions before doing the upgrade.
1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?
2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM, PBR etc.. all running on this router at present.
3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?
4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?
I am trying to connect HWIC-2FE Card to my Cisco 2811 Router. The router is unable to detect the card. I get the following error message:

I have a module of HWIC-4ESW installed into Cisco 2811 router where 3 WAN link is terminited. Suddently WAN links stopped working from last night. I have performed shutdown and no shutdown in the interface but still the the WAN link was not working. After performing a reboot the WAN link started working. No error logs were generated while the WAN link was down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Cisco 2621 powering a network at our co-location facility... It's a simple setup and is working well. The colo provides a redundant HSRP uplink, so I have their two uplinks going into a Dell switch. From that Dell switch I have a uplink into FastEthernet0/0 on the 2621, configured with my routing network, and then FastEthernet0/1 gets an address from my block of routable IP. FastEthernet0/1 then plugs into another Dell switch where I have all my servers connected. The servers get public routable IP addresses and use the address on FastEthernet0/1 as their default gateway.
It's time to upgrade off the 2621, so I aquired a Cisco 2811 which has two FE interfaces, as well as a modular HWIC-4ESW switch. My question is, can I get rid of the Dell Switch A in the setup above and just use the internal switch on the 2811 to accomplish the same thing? And I if I did this, would my two uplinks from the colo plug into ports 1 and 2 of that HWIC, and then port 3 would physically connect into FE 0/0? Or can I logically do that via configuration in the Cisco? I'm not sure how all this works and haven't received the new router yet, so I thought I'd get a head start and reach out to the experts.
My second question is unrelated, but each port on the HWIC switch cannot be configured as a network interface right? I'm pretty sure they can't as they aren't considered network interfaces but just thought I'd ask.
I'm looking for a HWIC card that will support SC fiber connections for a 2811. I know of the HWIC-1GE-SFP but this one only support the LC connections.

Very soon I'm going to the site to install two independent SHDSL links in Cisco 2811 which has one Cisco HWIC-2SHDSL module, so I can route one type of traffic through one connection and another type of traffic through another. Both SHDLS links have static IP addresses and probably different VPI/VCI values. how to install two SHDSL links into one HWIC-2SHDSL module, set one value for VPI/VCI on one link and another value for VPI/VCI on another link, also set one IP address on one link and another IP adddress on another link?

Currently, I have a cheap switch connected to FE 0/0 which in turn connects to all the phones, however now I just want to connect all the phones to the HWIC and have it internally bridge to FE0/0 for the connectivity to CME, etc.

Currently we have a mixture of Cisco 3750 and Cisco 3550 switches which don't support power over ethernet. Its been suggested we could continue using the current switches and power the new phones using power adapters.
Int terms of implementing qos (we don't have any at the moment) for the voice will a Cisco 3550 be OK and will having a mixture of different models using 3550 and 3750 pose any challenges with the qos policy for the voice. I believe there are differences in that the Cisco 3550 doesn't support srr-queues but having little experience with qos I'm not sure what impact this will have if any?
I have a 2811 ISR, a lab unit with almost nothing yet configured other than some IP networks on serial and FE interfaces to ping to other lab routers. And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required.It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHad problems with voice quality on VoIP with 4500 series switches and the qos dbl feature (which gets enabled by the auto qos feature)?? I have had a couple of customer complaining about voice quality and our voice team spent a lot of time investigating; I had ruled out the network infrastructure because it was all QOS enabled. The voip people came up against a blank so I looked at the network once more and disbaled dbl with hope more than anything else. Mysteriously the voice quality issues the customer was having have now disappeared. Not sure whether a coincidence (though I have done this on two customers now) or something to with with dbl. There is nothing on this on cco.

if i use the above configs, the phone which is connected to interface fa0/1 is not taking ip from dhcp server. even it didn't work with static configs.while troubelshooting, i have configured as below and it's started working..

in this case i can't use this port for data connectivity where as it's required for data too.
I have CME on Router 2800 series, and switch 2960 PoE connected to this router.On 2960 switch, there is existing 7945 IP Phone that already work properly and get IP 14.x.x.x from voice vlan 2.
Problem is when I add cisco 6921 IP Phone connect to 2960 switch, it get data vlan 10.x.x.x, not voice Vlan 14.x.x.x I have check CDP and it use CDP v2
Config on 2960:

With same config and condition on port 2960, why the IP Phone 6921 can't get voice vlan 14.x.x.x, whereas IP Phone 7945 can get voice vlan 14.x.x.x
I have encountered a different issue. When I configure " switchport voice vlan 2" under f0/2 connected to ip phone, it does not have any effect.
Below is my set up:

I installed the module into the router and the router recognizes the module. I can configure the ports as access or trunk ports, but I am unable to configure the channel-protocol or the channel-group for the Etherchannel. The IOS on the router is 15.1 M with the upgraded Bootloader version 12.3.

We have been facing a problem at my company ! We have a Cisco Router 1921 with one HWIC-4ESW in trunking with a RuggedCom switch RSG2100.When I use the GigabitEthernet port to make a trunk, I create 2 sub-interfaces (one for each Vlan) and configure the Port on Switch as Trunk, the inter-VLan routing works with no problem.But now I need to use this configuration using the HWIC-4ESW on Router, and I can't do this work. I try creat interface Vlan for each vlan, and try creating the VLans at Router Vlans database, but no way. At router I enter in interface and try to do the switchport trunk command to add a Vlan, but doesn't work.
