I have to configure router 2811 for Data and Voice network.However I have only one Fast Ethernet interface. [code]
what else do I need to configure on switchport on which Avaya phones are connected.And is there any extra command, i need to configure on the router and 2950 switch.
I intend to deploy a voice+data network using some old 3745 and 2811. The network in effect has six 3745 in a hybrid topology at different locations and each having three WIC-2T, one WIC-4T, three NMHDV-2E1. That's pretty much juicing out the maximum from these routers These will serve as my core routers and for access I will be using my 2811s with more VWICs and lesser WIC-2T to give voice and data to subscribers. The 2811s will have links to multiple 3745s. The NMHDV-2E1 will serve for the voice needs at the 3745 locations. All the WAN links will be E1. All my telephones will be on analog voice using traditional EPABX with CEPT/ PRI E1 cards for connecting to the routers. And for data, ethernet ports.Two of the routers will have E1 links to the PSTN and Internet which has to be extended to all my folks. Now, for the tricky part, all my network modules are refurbished stuff from ebay and all the ports will have links on them. I intend to use OSPF with only the backbone area.

Our switches are not Layer3 so routing over them is not an option. We only use the default VLAN1 on both switches.There is a data segment 192.168.1.0/24 and a voice segment 192.168.150.0/24, each with it's own internet/WAN access (internet for the data lan and SIP provider for the voice lan).

This is want i want to achieve:
- Link the data and voice switches using the 861
- I want to make the Cisco 861 the default gw on both segments, but they should only route traffic destined for the other segment to each other and route all other traffic to their segment's designated internet connection. I don't want the Cisco to do any NATting and there's no need for firewalling either.
I have cisco2811 and HWIC-1CE1T1-PRI in the main office are using to connect 10 branches ( 10 ISDN lines) for Data.
I have available channels in the used E1 so I can use them for voice using PVDM2-64 ?
If we configure a Voice and Data VLAn on a switch. And connect EX90 on voice VLAN and PCwith EX90 terminals. Than can we able to share a presentation or data with EX90 or not?

We cannot make Gi0/1 as sub interfaces and assign the same subnet IP’s as of VLAN IP’s , it wont accept. On 1921 router Assume Gi0/0 we connect to MPLS WAN. What happens to Gi0/1 where do we connect this?
View 1 Replies View Relatedim working in a new enviroment and want to makes some design changes to the environment. I wanted to bounce my ideas some of you folks to see if my thinking is on the right path or maybe i could do things better.
Setup:
Currently the setup that i manage includes and Sonic Wall (also dishes out dhcp), HP 1810 "Core Switch" and 3 SG 300-28P cisco managed switches. (all cisco switches tie back into the HP) The router is managed by the isp. There is only one vlan with all traffic going across it.
Obviously the glaring issue here is that voice and data all reside on the same vlan. Correct me if i am thinking incorrectly but the first step would be to create a separate vlan for the phones with its own IP scheme. currently phones are issued addresses from the 150-200 range and everything else is left for pc's, printers etc. To my knowledge the HP switch does layer 3 but i do not know much about it. There are vpn tunnels to remote offices that are used for sharepoint, email and to access other services. Trying to wrap my mind around the environment as a whole so i may be missing something obvious i could do design wise to improve.
I have a sge2000p to install with a uc520. I have all data traffic passing ok but voice will not work. Phones to not get ip etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor the past few days I've been attempting to configure a data T1 on a Cisco 1760, but I'm stuck at:
Serial0/0 <our ip address> YES NVRAM up down
To provide a bit of background. This router used to be configured with a T1 via Frame-Relay; which worked fine. Now we recently change offices and providers, and the provider did not offer any information as to which encapsulation type to use, and if Frame-Relay which DLCI to use, etc.
Now I've been trying to setup the T1 connection and testing various settings such as encapsulation HDLC and PPP, but no luck. I also played around with the line codes and framing; which resulted in the following framing sf int down, line prot down, framing esf int up, line prot down. Regardless no luck.
Now I've been following several guides and examples mainly the following: [URL] In this guide they make mention of a WIC-1DSU-T1-V2, but as you can see in the show diag snippet at the bottom; we have a WIC-1DSU-T1 version 1.5. I dont' know if this poses a problem for us.
Throughout the entire process I've seen a few irregularities for example:
1. Router(config-if)#service-module t1 cablelength short 110ft

The IOS doesn't recognize any command with service module t1 ca , and the only recognized command with C is clock.
2. If I enter the following list of commands under the serial interface:

We are trying to config vlan 10 for data and vlan 20 for voice on the same port - port 1 of swtich SF300-24P to run both data and voice on different vlans.Do I have to add vlan 10 as an untagged vlan to port 1 and add vlan 20 as an tagged vlan to port 1?If I do not want to assign the native vlan 1 to port 1, how can I remove it ? The GUI page - assign VLAN to port does not allow to remove it.Aslo, what mode shall I set up on port 1? General, trunk or access ?
View 18 Replies View RelatedMy company have a Cisco PIX 525 firewall which is cater for NOC internal data network and also voice network, the subnet for data network is 192.168.2.0/24 and the subnet for voice network is 172.16.2.0/24. someday this NOC firewall was faulty. I was migrated the data network from this NOC firewall to the other temporary firewall just at the moment. And the voice network i migrated it from where it orginal at NOC firewall to a VOIP system which actually having a connection with my temporary firewall(This temporary FW only to take the traffic of data network). After the migration of data network from old firewall to temporary firewall and also the migration of voice network from old firewall to PABX system. The subnet for data network remain the same as 192.168.2.0/24, but the subnet of voice network i edit from 172.16.2.0/24 to 192.168. 3.0/24.Now when i want to use one Cisco router 2600 to replace this temporary firewall then facing problem at the voice network....The data network after migrated from temporary firewall to new 2600 is ok, users can browsing. But when i trying to at the same time when the data network been migrated , it will affect the voice network which still located at PABX. ..user cannot make call...I was thinking reason because this voice network which currently in 192.168.3.0/24 is tight to somewhere on the 192.168.x.x at the old firewall internetwork. So, when i migrated the data network over to new router, it will also cause the failure of voice even thought after i migrated the voice system to new router.So when i do the disaster recovery back to the temporary firewall for both data and voice. The voice is resuming to normal.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have spent several days tearing my hair out trying to properly configure our small business switch (SG300-10p) for voice. The phones are a relatively new addition and will replace old POTS phones.Our network consists of a 1941 ISR router, the SG300-10P switch, a mac server (handing DHCP, DNS, AFP), 4 client desktops and 4 SGA525G2 IP phones. The router, server, desktops and phones all have their own connection to the switch and the second data ports on the back of the IP phones are not used. We do not have any unified comms devices for voice. Our VOIP solution is hosted by a local SIP provider, and each phone independently registers with the provider's SIP proxy over the internet.
Left almost to it’s own devices (or presumably flat, default settings on VLAN 1), this whole setup works just great. We can TFTP files, make and receive calls, and do all the usual XML stuff. Calls are crystal clear. Even the localisation and directory works. However, I’ve been told several times that to ensure good quality on VOIP calls during periods of busy traffic, I should set up some form of QoS. A Voice VLAN on the switch, I was told, is the best way to do this as it automagically gives priority to the whole voice VLAN over the normal data VLAN.
I have followed instructions in numerous manuals, articles and guides, and have managed to create the Voice VLAN, both manually and automatically (I can watch Smartport detect the phones and see the Auto Voice VLAN add the ports to the VLAN as I connect them). The trouble is, as soon as this happens, the phones lose connectivity with the rest of the network, including the DNS server and the router, and therefore the internet, causing them to lose registration with the SIP service.
I tried adding the server and router ports to the Voice VLAN and tweaking every possible combination of tagged, untagged, excluded, trunk, access, general and PVID settings I can think of (by the way, I have no idea what any of those mean). The switch is in Layer 2 mode, but adding the port connected to the router to all the VLANs does not result in internet connectivity to the phones. I have told the phones to tag frames with the VLAN ID and told them not to. I have tried upgrading firmware and I have rebooted the switch so many times I'm tired of those wretched little flashing lights.
Nothing seems to work. And so I am stuck with everything on VLAN 1. My most recent thought is that the 1941 needs to know about the Voice VLAN (I checked CDP and it knows about the switch), but I’m reluctant to start messing with the router config when this is our production network, at least without knowing what I'm doing. I don’t even know if QoS applies when a Voice VLAN is not set up and we're on VLAN 1, some articles say yes, others say no. And when it is set up right, how does that priority transfer to the router? I’ve looked in the router manual and config options and found something called 802.1Q, but I have no idea what it is, how it works or even if it applies to our situation. Can I forgo VLANs altogether and use QoS some other way, perhaps?I have googled enough to cobble together our setup in IOS up until now. Ideally, I would still like to be able to ssh or https into each device (as I do now) for management, and I’ve read about setting up a another VLAN for config, monitoring etc, but I guess that would mean routing between VLANs in Layer 3.
We have two MPLS circuits managed by two different suppliers, one carries VOICE the other DATAWe are to decommision the VOICE MPLS and have increased the bandwith of the DATA MPLS to carry VoIP traffic too.
At both of our sites A & B ,devices connected to the LAN have a default gateway of the VOICE providers Cisco 2600 router , which then goes into the LAN switching. (see diagram)So what I am trying to achieve is toto simply replace these 2600 routers from the VOICE MPLS provider with our own so we dont have to change the default gateways at both sites.
Testing
Our Cisco 2600 routes are plugged into each LAN switching environment with two subinterfaces configured, one for voip and the other for dataThe problem is from the router and respective subinterfaces we can get to the other sites destination without any issue, but if for example a user is at site A with Ip address 10.16.11.12/16 they cant ping the VOIP subnet at site B 10.3.11.0/24. But If a ping is issue from the Site A test router then the 10.3.11.0/24 subnet is reachable but only on the 10.3.12.0/24 configured subinterface.So i guess what Im saying is 10.16.0.0/16 from the LAN needs to be able to get to 10.3.11.0/24Note at site A 10.16.0.0/16 & 10.3.12.0/24 can communicate no problem and at site B 10.207.0.0/16 & 10.3.11.0/24 can communicate no problem.We are using IP routing, should we be using route-maps?
I am really new to Cisco and having a hard time with my Cisco 2800 series.
I have two sites connected with each other Site A and Site B (Using the same Cisco 2800). Now site A can connect to site B on the Cisco and the internal network, but site B can only see the Cisco and not the internal network of site A. So all the traffic is coming in to site B but can't break out of site B. I have tried everything I can think of but again my knowledge of Cisco is not good at all.

But we need add more 2 module VIC3-2E/M. can we use Network Module ? example : add one NM-HD-2V + two VIC3-2E/M ?
Can we do that? and whether it is the same as we use the VIC2-2E / M on HWIC slots
I need to configure two voice-enabled cisco routers, each one has an analog FAX machine. The routers are connected with a serial connection. In the end, the faxes should be able to fax to each other.The fax uses RJ-11 and I've established that I will be configuring FSX ports. (These ports are used for analog devices such as telephones, modems, and fax machines). I am unable to find a single site that gives information about specifically configuring fax machines.

1. I am trying to configure a cisco 2811 with FXS ports . I am using an NM-HD-2V with a VIC3-2FXS. I am using the right modules. Also I believe we need PVDM mosules installed in the NM-HD-2V. We have PVDM-12 modules. Will that work or is 2811 compatible only with PVDM2-xx modules.
2. We are also trying to configure a cisco 2811 with PRI port. We plan to use an NM-HD-2V and a VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. If they are correct and if we need only PVDM2-xx modules.
3. Also we are trying to configure a cisco 3845 with PRI and we plan to use the same as in 2811 that is NM-HD-2V, VWIC-1MFT-T1/E1. And here also we are not sure if we need only PVDM2-xx DSP modules.

I'm trying to configure QoS on my 877 router to give priority to voice packets. However, when I do a show policy-map for WAN interface, all the classes show 0 bps. When I do a show int for the WAN interface, I get the correct bandwidth util.
This 877 is meant for a home network. I'm running a Cisco 7970 phone using phone-proxy back to my HQ. I'm also shaping the traffic.

I have a question regarding firewall configurations. Is it possible to have two interfaces ( for two internet service providers) one for voice and one for data. Can I have two Outside Interfaces that one will apply to a pppoe client group and the other will apply to a static IP? Is this possible and if so What would be the steps on applying this connection? Also to note I have a point to point connection already established for the pppoe. I also have another point to point connection for data, but however I do not know how to apply this to the firewall.

We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet.It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so. I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches) If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.

One department has recently employed more people so we have an SG200 switch to connect the computers and phones to. I don't seem to be able to get any connectivity between the new switch and the SG300 it is connecting to. I have setup VLAN1 and 10 as per the images below:
I have a 3845 edge router connected to the Internet via four T1s and a HWIC-4T1/E1 card. We are adding two more T1s to the mix, and I have a VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 card. Here are my questions:
1. Is it correct to state that the VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 can support data in addition to voice?
2. I can use the HWIC and VWIC cards together to utilize the 6 T1s together?
3. Do I just add the card, configure the new slot, and add it to the same channel group?

I have a Cisco 2811 Router. I have two VLANS on the router. The first one of course is VLAN 1 and the second one is one that I created from reading everything from this forum.. it is called VLAN 531
On VLAN one I have an IP address of 10.8.1.1 and on VLAN 531 I have an IP Address of 172.16.1.1, now what I can do is this... I can.. from a workstation on the 10.8.0.0 segment, ping 172.16.1.1 and one server on that segment that has an IP address of 172.16.1.50, which is fine, but what I really want to be able to do is ping our email server which is on a 10.21.0.0 segment and I cannot. Any commands on what I would need to do to make this work as I would like the 172.16.0.0 segment to ping any other part of my LAN of my choosing.
I have a Cisco 2811 Router with a NM-16ESW card installed. I've connected this to my DSL connecting and I'm trying to build myself a learning lab. From the router I can ping to the internet and back to a test computer I have connected to one of the card's ethernet ports. From the test computer, I can ping the router's WAN interface, but no further. [code]
