Configure Fax Machine On Voice-enabled Router?
Jan 17, 2011
I need to configure two voice-enabled cisco routers, each one has an analog FAX machine. The routers are connected with a serial connection. In the end, the faxes should be able to fax to each other. The fax uses RJ-11 and I've established that I will be configuring FSX ports. (These ports are used for analog devices such as telephones, modems, and fax machines). I am unable to find a single site that gives information about specifically configuring fax machines.

I'm trying to configure QoS on my 877 router to give priority to voice packets. However, when I do a show policy-map for WAN interface, all the classes show 0 bps. When I do a show int for the WAN interface, I get the correct bandwidth util.
This 877 is meant for a home network. I'm running a Cisco 7970 phone using phone-proxy back to my HQ. I'm also shaping the traffic.
Here is my config
Class Map match-any EF (id 1)
Match ip precedence 5
Class Map match-any class-default (id 0)

I want to configure QoS for voice traffic over a site-to-site VPN tunnel. I have a Cisco 851 router on the branch end and a Cisco 1800 router at the HQ. The setup is an Avaya Gateway located at the HQ and the idea is that the phones at the branch office are connected over the VPN tunnel to the gateway at the HQ.
I have a 1MB internet link at the HQ from a service provider and 256kbps internet link (from a different service provider) at the branch office. The branch office has just 3 users.

I have a strange error on my home network that I cannot find a solution to.I have an Huawei SmartAX MT882 from TalkTalk acting as a modem connected to a D-Link DSL-G624T acting as a router/switch. Connected to the D-Link I have a Windows 7 Pro machine (64-bit, SP1) and an XP (home i think) machine (sp 2 i think). The SmartAX modem is set up to perform DHCP and DNS relaying and the D-Link has DHCP turned off and DNS relay turned off.The Win7 machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet without problems, regardless as to the status of the XP machine. The XP machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet with no problems ONLY of the win7 is powered up. When the win7 machine is off, the XP machine seems to drop about 25% of the ping packets between it and the D-Link router and has no internet access (because of this i assume). [code]

New Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine. Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed. No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install. On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.

I have a network problem. My windows 7 machine is not detecting win xp machine whereas win xp machine is detecting win 7 machine. They are in the same workgroup named Home. And the networking system is set to work. I have left the homegroup I was previously in. I enabled file sharing for devices that use 40 bit and 50 bit encryption. On XP I have enabled NetBios over TCP/IP. File sharing is enabled on both computers. I think it's something obvious as both instalations on different computers are really fresh and both windows haven't been tampered with.

I recently moved to a cable ISP and unfortunately had to also change routers in order to take advantage of the VoIP feature (analog phone) they provided me with. Now, the new router, the WRP400, is very limited feature-wise compared to the custom flashed WRT54GL I used to use with my DSL provider. Now the WRT54GL does not have any FXS ports, so I obviously can't just plug my cable modem to the WRT54GL. Therefore, I was hoping to achieve a setup similar to this one:Cable modem => VoIP Router w/ voice only (WRP400) => "Main" router (WRT54GL w/ Tomato)Is there a way to bridge the WRP400 successfully with the WRT54GL keeping only the voice feature enabled on the VoIP router while the WRT54GL takes care of the rest? (Wireless, WAN, port forwarding, etc)

I have few queries abou the Cisco 880G series router.
1) Suppose if we have a 3G service enabled SIM card then can we insert the same on the Cisco 880G router and browse internet from the LAN of 880G?
2) I think the HSPA+ standard supports 84 Mbps downlink speed..... so is it supported on 880 G router?
3) Can we configure Cisco 880G as a CME?

Since I am new to VOIP and am getting confused with the responses online on how to connect to a commercial phone system I thought I would ask here. I have a small voice router (1751) running CME with 2 Cisco 7940 phones. I would like to hook it up to a commercial line, but not sure how to. What specific card will I need for my voice router to connect it to the outside world (FXO right)? I see where they talk about hooking it up directly to the LAN line, another using a commercial phone system, and then the others using a PBX,ect... So confused to say the least. I assume I need an FXO port to connect to the POTS, but not sure if there is anything else I’m missing in the setup...

We're having some numbers ported over to us and we'd like to verify that we are in fact receiving all of the numbers at our SIP gateway. Since we have been getting more and more activity on this router, I'm becoming more concerned about using certain debug's for fear that the router maxes out CPU and drops.
What the best debug command would give me this information with minimal impact on CPU? In the past I've used 'debug ccapi inout' and a couple of others similar to that. With so much activity though sometimes it bombs the router. Also I am logging to the console directly, maybe there is a better method with less CPU impact. I just don't want to have to go back and forth to look for stuff 50 times either if I write out to a file or something, it could work though I suppose.

We have some point-to-point sites linked with our HO with 10-30mbps speed. We have provided DID telephone lines to these sites as well.
We want to limit the bandwidth with 1mb bandwidth only and also make sure that the voice traffic (DID telephone lines) gets the priority over all other traffic even if they are utilitizing the 1mb link completely. We have some Cisco 1841 routers that we are planning to configure on the main uplink on each of these sites. how to give the priority to the voice traffic yet limiting the bandwidth to 1mb.

Well i am currently using a BSNL DNA A211-1 wifi modem-cum-router with a wireline inbetween my PC (win7 ultm) & the router, so as to connect to the internet. i use the wifi feature of my router to connect my samsung gts5570 wifi enabled phone as well as a few other wifi enabled devices, to use internet on them. now i was thinking whether i can connect my desktop pc to my mobile phone using this wifi router somehow? how can that be done since there is already 2 different network that exist between my pc & router thru wireline & my mobile & the router thru wifi, all i need is a way to sync these to networks into one, so that my pc & my mobile use internet & at the same time they connect to each other as well.

We have two MPLS circuits managed by two different suppliers, one carries VOICE the other DATAWe are to decommision the VOICE MPLS and have increased the bandwith of the DATA MPLS to carry VoIP traffic too.
At both of our sites A & B ,devices connected to the LAN have a default gateway of the VOICE providers Cisco 2600 router , which then goes into the LAN switching. (see diagram)So what I am trying to achieve is toto simply replace these 2600 routers from the VOICE MPLS provider with our own so we dont have to change the default gateways at both sites.
Testing
Our Cisco 2600 routes are plugged into each LAN switching environment with two subinterfaces configured, one for voip and the other for dataThe problem is from the router and respective subinterfaces we can get to the other sites destination without any issue, but if for example a user is at site A with Ip address 10.16.11.12/16 they cant ping the VOIP subnet at site B 10.3.11.0/24. But If a ping is issue from the Site A test router then the 10.3.11.0/24 subnet is reachable but only on the 10.3.12.0/24 configured subinterface. So i guess what Im saying is 10.16.0.0/16 from the LAN needs to be able to get to 10.3.11.0/24Note at site A 10.16.0.0/16 & 10.3.12.0/24 can communicate no problem and at site B 10.207.0.0/16 & 10.3.11.0/24 can communicate no problem. We are using IP routing, should we be using route-maps?

My router is running the stock 1.21 firmware and it has been fine for almost a year before the wireless suddenly stopped working. I reset the router and restored my previous configuration. After the reboot, the SSID is visible and I can connect to it but there is no internet connection. Also the router becomes unresponsive, i.e. timeout trying to access the router configuration page. After trying out different settings it seems that enabling WPA2+AES is the cause. In the mean time, I am running an open wireless network and everything seems fine. Is the hardware faulty? I am reluctant to update the firmware because of a negative experience with another router (same model).

We want to use a Cisco 861 Ethernet router to link our LAN's data and voice segments together (each on separate switches). Our switches are not Layer3 so routing over them is not an option. We only use the default VLAN1 on both switches. There is a data segment 192.168.1.0/24 and a voice segment 192.168.150.0/24, each with it's own internet/WAN access (internet for the data lan and SIP provider for the voice lan).
Diagram:
internet-~--router_192.168.1.1------192.168.1.0/24_data_lan--------192.168.1.254_cisco861_192.168.150.254-----192.168.150.0/24_voice------192.168.150.1_router--~-sip_provider
This is want i want to achieve:
- Link the data and voice switches using the 861
- I want to make the Cisco 861 the default gw on both segments, but they should only route traffic destined for the other segment to each other and route all other traffic to their segment's designated internet connection. I don't want the Cisco to do any NATting and there's no need for firewalling either.
