I wanted to know about EHWIC 8-Port configuration? We create Data and Voice VLANs and assign 8 ports to the VLANs. So how do VLANS communicate with each other? We cannot make Gi0/1 as sub interfaces and assign the same subnet IP’s as of VLAN IP’s , it wont accept. On 1921 router Assume Gi0/0 we connect to MPLS WAN. What happens to Gi0/1 where do we connect this?
View 1 RepliesI'm struggling with a configuration issue on the Cisco SG200-08P. We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet.It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so. I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches) If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.

View 3 Replies View Relatedim working in a new enviroment and want to makes some design changes to the environment. I wanted to bounce my ideas some of you folks to see if my thinking is on the right path or maybe i could do things better.
Setup:
Currently the setup that i manage includes and Sonic Wall (also dishes out dhcp), HP 1810 "Core Switch" and 3 SG 300-28P cisco managed switches. (all cisco switches tie back into the HP) The router is managed by the isp. There is only one vlan with all traffic going across it.
Obviously the glaring issue here is that voice and data all reside on the same vlan. Correct me if i am thinking incorrectly but the first step would be to create a separate vlan for the phones with its own IP scheme. currently phones are issued addresses from the 150-200 range and everything else is left for pc's, printers etc. To my knowledge the HP switch does layer 3 but i do not know much about it. There are vpn tunnels to remote offices that are used for sharepoint, email and to access other services. Trying to wrap my mind around the environment as a whole so i may be missing something obvious i could do design wise to improve.
I have spent several days tearing my hair out trying to properly configure our small business switch (SG300-10p) for voice. The phones are a relatively new addition and will replace old POTS phones.Our network consists of a 1941 ISR router, the SG300-10P switch, a mac server (handing DHCP, DNS, AFP), 4 client desktops and 4 SGA525G2 IP phones. The router, server, desktops and phones all have their own connection to the switch and the second data ports on the back of the IP phones are not used. We do not have any unified comms devices for voice. Our VOIP solution is hosted by a local SIP provider, and each phone independently registers with the provider's SIP proxy over the internet.
Left almost to it’s own devices (or presumably flat, default settings on VLAN 1), this whole setup works just great. We can TFTP files, make and receive calls, and do all the usual XML stuff. Calls are crystal clear. Even the localisation and directory works. However, I’ve been told several times that to ensure good quality on VOIP calls during periods of busy traffic, I should set up some form of QoS. A Voice VLAN on the switch, I was told, is the best way to do this as it automagically gives priority to the whole voice VLAN over the normal data VLAN.
I have followed instructions in numerous manuals, articles and guides, and have managed to create the Voice VLAN, both manually and automatically (I can watch Smartport detect the phones and see the Auto Voice VLAN add the ports to the VLAN as I connect them). The trouble is, as soon as this happens, the phones lose connectivity with the rest of the network, including the DNS server and the router, and therefore the internet, causing them to lose registration with the SIP service.
I tried adding the server and router ports to the Voice VLAN and tweaking every possible combination of tagged, untagged, excluded, trunk, access, general and PVID settings I can think of (by the way, I have no idea what any of those mean). The switch is in Layer 2 mode, but adding the port connected to the router to all the VLANs does not result in internet connectivity to the phones. I have told the phones to tag frames with the VLAN ID and told them not to. I have tried upgrading firmware and I have rebooted the switch so many times I'm tired of those wretched little flashing lights.
Nothing seems to work. And so I am stuck with everything on VLAN 1. My most recent thought is that the 1941 needs to know about the Voice VLAN (I checked CDP and it knows about the switch), but I’m reluctant to start messing with the router config when this is our production network, at least without knowing what I'm doing. I don’t even know if QoS applies when a Voice VLAN is not set up and we're on VLAN 1, some articles say yes, others say no. And when it is set up right, how does that priority transfer to the router? I’ve looked in the router manual and config options and found something called 802.1Q, but I have no idea what it is, how it works or even if it applies to our situation. Can I forgo VLANs altogether and use QoS some other way, perhaps?I have googled enough to cobble together our setup in IOS up until now. Ideally, I would still like to be able to ssh or https into each device (as I do now) for management, and I’ve read about setting up a another VLAN for config, monitoring etc, but I guess that would mean routing between VLANs in Layer 3.

I have configured HSRP with InterVlan routing. All communication is flowing properly between the vlan's on Router A but when I test failover to Router B I cant ping ANYWHERE. I cannot ping any of the VLANS.
Also, From the primary router I cannot ping any of the interfaces on the secondary router.
I have 2 Cisco 1921 Routers configured for HSRP. Both the G0/1 ports plug into a Cisco 2960S 48 port POE switch (STACKED) (port 1 and port 2 which are trunked and allowing all vlans to pass through. And both of the G0/0 ports are plugged into a Cisco ASA5510.
I have attached a diagram of the setup and the interface configs of the routers.
I have a sge2000p to install with a uc520. I have all data traffic passing ok but voice will not work. Phones to not get ip etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe want to use a Cisco 861 Ethernet router to link our LAN's data and voice segments together (each on separate switches). Our switches are not Layer3 so routing over them is not an option. We only use the default VLAN1 on both switches.There is a data segment 192.168.1.0/24 and a voice segment 192.168.150.0/24, each with it's own internet/WAN access (internet for the data lan and SIP provider for the voice lan).

This is want i want to achieve:
- Link the data and voice switches using the 861
- I want to make the Cisco 861 the default gw on both segments, but they should only route traffic destined for the other segment to each other and route all other traffic to their segment's designated internet connection. I don't want the Cisco to do any NATting and there's no need for firewalling either.
I have the following config using a Cisco 1921. I am trying to get devices on the the native VLAN to get internet access via the gateway x.x.x.73.Any thing being routed from the other Vlans 15/20/30 can get access, but nothing from an internal IP address. Is there something I am missing.
The Xs replace the same 3 octets for each interface.I am trying to route from VLANs 15/20/30 to see VLAN 5. I have tried a few things, in terms of adding extra ip routes, but can't get anything to work. Each of those Vlans have another router on the other side of them, which I have also tried adding ip routes too, but nothing. One of the routers (Vlan15 is a Draytek 2830). [code]
How can i add two data vlans on cisco 2960 on one interfase? i have 3 mac adresses on one interfase: one PC, one ipphone and one XP virtual machine(VM). Im asking above question because we will need to enable ip-sla on the mentioned router. as i read on the cisco webside, it says Cisco-ISR-1921/K9-IP Base support only IP-SLA RESPONDER feature nothing else. If Cisco-921/K9 does not support the above commands , should i go for ordering Cisco-1921-SEC/K9 ?
Since CIPC is isntalled in the PC, and PC definitely getting an IP address from the data IP network segment instead of the voice IP network segment, so how to gurantee the following? 1. How the CIPC registered to the CME/CUCM 2. How to gurantee the QoS for the CIPC's voice traffic since the source IP address of the CIPC is belong to the IP network segment?

The network in effect has six 3745 in a hybrid topology at different locations and each having three WIC-2T, one WIC-4T, three NMHDV-2E1. That's pretty much juicing out the maximum from these routers These will serve as my core routers and for access I will be using my 2811s with more VWICs and lesser WIC-2T to give voice and data to subscribers. The 2811s will have links to multiple 3745s. The NMHDV-2E1 will serve for the voice needs at the 3745 locations. All the WAN links will be E1. All my telephones will be on analog voice using traditional EPABX with CEPT/ PRI E1 cards for connecting to the routers. And for data, ethernet ports.Two of the routers will have E1 links to the PSTN and Internet which has to be extended to all my folks. Now, for the tricky part, all my network modules are refurbished stuff from ebay and all the ports will have links on them. I intend to use OSPF with only the backbone area.

Can I have two Outside Interfaces that one will apply to a pppoe client group and the other will apply to a static IP? Is this possible and if so What would be the steps on applying this connection? Also to note I have a point to point connection already established for the pppoe. I also have another point to point connection for data, but however I do not know how to apply this to the firewall.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a customer with several SG300's providing VLAN1 for data and VLAN10 for voice. The PC's are piggy backing off the phones and showing up in the SG300 fine:
One department has recently employed more people so we have an SG200 switch to connect the computers and phones to. I don't seem to be able to get any connectivity between the new switch and the SG300 it is connecting to. I have setup VLAN1 and 10 as per the images below:
I have a 3845 edge router connected to the Internet via four T1s and a HWIC-4T1/E1 card. We are adding two more T1s to the mix, and I have a VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 card. Here are my questions:
1. Is it correct to state that the VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 can support data in addition to voice?
2. I can use the HWIC and VWIC cards together to utilize the 6 T1s together?
3. Do I just add the card, configure the new slot, and add it to the same channel group?

i installed Data license(Evalutation) initally it took the license after reload, when i enter sh lic command the out put shows that Data license is installed and valid for...
But when i run sh ver command it only shws ipbase license and not the data license
I've recently segmented my network and part of the process was creating a DMZ VLAN. I'm running ESXi 5 and have created two new VM's to add to this DMZ to begin the process of moving everything public facing to the new VLAN. At this point they new hosts will not communicate with each other, their gateway, and of course not the public internet. To get the first out of the way, they are configured according to VMWare's VLAN guide: I have created a new vSwitch port group on the host and assigned them to the VLAN id 11 for the DMZ VLAN, and have the switchport on the switch (3560) setup as trunk in dot1q mode with all vlans tagged. The management VLAN is also NOT the default VLAN 1, so that is not causing any issues. My other server segment VLAN is working fine on the same ESXi host/s, so this does not seem to be the issue.
On the network side of things I have my ASA connecting to a 3560 with two interfaces, one for "inside", one for "dmz."Is this below correct? I feel like the static route should be route dmz with a gateway to 10.0.1.1..

In my lab setup i configured Cisco 3560 switch.
-VLAN 20 and VLAN 30 i configured.
-VLAN 20 interface IP : 192.168.20.1/24
-VLAN 30 interface IP : 192.168.30.1/24.
Inter-vlan communication is happening fine. For testing for purpose i configured extended ACLs.i want stop communication from VLAN 30 to VLAN 20 but not vice-versa. If i ping from one of the IP VLAN 20 to one of the ip of VLAN 30, i was gettng Requested time out. And if i ping from one of the IP VLAN 20 to VLAN 30 interface IP, i was able get pinging.From VLAN 30 to VLAN 20, i was getting destination host unreachable from VLAN 30 ip( Its fine as its my requirement)So, solution needed to communicate from VLAN 20 to VLAN 30.
We are trying to figure out how to configure this properly and so far we are stuck. We have a VMWare server with two different vmnics each on a different VLAN. We have each of these vmnics connected into their own switch port on a 3560G along with the appropriate VLAN membership for said ports. We have an additional port on this same switch in trunking mode connected to our firewall to a NIC that has an IP address in the respective VLAN networks. This port is also set for dot1q encapsulation. Each VLAN also has an IP set on the switch that is in the appropriate VLAN. We are having issues in this configuration getting the one VLAN to talk to another.
I know if we were in all Cisco mode then we would use ROAS to do this inter-vlan communication. How to make this happen short of changing hardware?

Currently we have a mixture of Cisco 3750 and Cisco 3550 switches which don't support power over ethernet. Its been suggested we could continue using the current switches and power the new phones using power adapters.
Int terms of implementing qos (we don't have any at the moment) for the voice will a Cisco 3550 be OK and will having a mixture of different models using 3550 and 3750 pose any challenges with the qos policy for the voice. I believe there are differences in that the Cisco 3550 doesn't support srr-queues but having little experience with qos I'm not sure what impact this will have if any?

I have a customer who has a Cisco 2821 router with software 2821/HSEC/K9 and they wish to upgrade to C2821-VSEC-SRST/K9.From my understanding they want to use the same router but install an IOS with the capabilites it has at the moment but with voice. View 2 Replies View RelatedHad problems with voice quality on VoIP with 4500 series switches and the qos dbl feature (which gets enabled by the auto qos feature)?? I have had a couple of customer complaining about voice quality and our voice team spent a lot of time investigating; I had ruled out the network infrastructure because it was all QOS enabled. The voip people came up against a blank so I looked at the network once more and disbaled dbl with hope more than anything else. Mysteriously the voice quality issues the customer was having have now disappeared. Not sure whether a coincidence (though I have done this on two customers now) or something to with with dbl. There is nothing on this on cco.

if i use the above configs, the phone which is connected to interface fa0/1 is not taking ip from dhcp server. even it didn't work with static configs.while troubelshooting, i have configured as below and it's started working..

I have CME on Router 2800 series, and switch 2960 PoE connected to this router.On 2960 switch, there is existing 7945 IP Phone that already work properly and get IP 14.x.x.x from voice vlan 2.
Problem is when I add cisco 6921 IP Phone connect to 2960 switch, it get data vlan 10.x.x.x, not voice Vlan 14.x.x.x I have check CDP and it use CDP v2
