i have question about router 2811, for now, all HWIC in 2811 is full,
Slot 0 : VIC2-2E/M
Slot 1 : VIC2-2E/M
Slot 2 : WIC-1T=
Slot 3 : HWIC-1FE
But we need add more 2 module VIC3-2E/M. can we use Network Module ? example : add one NM-HD-2V + two VIC3-2E/M ?
Can we do that? and whether it is the same as we use the VIC2-2E / M on HWIC slots

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with a single physical NIC which I have used the advanced management tools to create two virtual NICs (say vlan 10 and vlan 20) and both are on the same subnet (say 192.168.4.x). One NIC is for normal TCP/IP traffic and one is for broadcast/multicast traffic (I have some custom software that requires this to be the case and works fine on an older laptops with built-in physical NIC and PCMCIA XIRCOM NIC). The dual NIC laptop communicates with a dual NIC server via a Cisco 2811 router (which has a 16 port switch module at the back) and has vlans set up so.
What I want is for the single NIC laptop (with two virtual NICs) to be able to also communicate with the server. Basically, one NIC is for normal traffic and one is for multicast/broadcast traffic. All three machines need to be able to talk to each other using the NIC for normal traffic and both laptops must be able to receive broadcasts from the server. What is the best way to configure the router to handle the trunking/tagging? Most configuration documentation I read has two complete subnets for the two virtual NICs. Note that all three machines use static IPs and are part of a workgroup so no DNS and domain servers etc.
Is it possible to mix 1 and 10 Gigabit links on a 1/10Giga Network Module of the Cat3750X? I mean porte GE1/1/1 and GE1/1/2 used with SFP and port TE1/1/2 used with SFP+; that makes TE1/1/1 not available as GE1/1/3 and 1/1/4

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a 2811 router runnning IOS 12.4(21) and have added an HWIC 1FE card to slot 2. But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.
I have few questions before doing the upgrade.
1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?
2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM, PBR etc.. all running on this router at present.
3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?
4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?
i am currently trying to configure a four port ISDN BRI interface on a Cisco 2811 router.Upon upgrading to a later version of IOS, c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-25d.bin, access to the HWIC-4B-S/T module is lost, the router no longer detects it. In fact iI can only get the router to detect the module using the original IOS version c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-20.YA3.bin.
Is there some special feature needed in the IOS code to support these modules, if so what would be a suitable version/train to upgrade to?I have tried using the Cisco Software advisor tool but it generates an error when searching on a hardware configuration containing this module type.
The reason for upgrading the code is we have a potential bug with the current version which appears to be preventing the BRI interface syncing up with the providers switch (switch type correctly defined and provider confirms isdn line has been provisioned correctly).
The debug error seen is:

My main question though is why the module is not being detected after a code upgrade and if there is a specific code version/train needed to support this module in a 2811?
I'm having issue with 881W router. this router doesnt let me logon to it after I restart the router and enter correct credentials. after being at the router - it doesn't let me logon to its AP module even after adding correct credentials. I've changed 2 routers so far but see same issue.
try to setup up credentials using: username <username> privilege 15 secret 0 <password> or username <username> priviledge 15 password 0 <password>

How do I force the standalone to be the master? sw 1 priority XX(Higher then the existing stack)? Both the stack and the standalone have management addresses. Would it be ok to delete the stack ip address? That way, the standalone(master's address will be the only management address)?How should I connect the standalone 3750 to the stack? At present, the 3750 stack is connected via a cascade cable going from the stack 1 port of the top switch to the stack 2 port of the bottom switch.

Each core has 2 SUP's (hot/standby). out of 4 SUP engines, one is defective. i had received the new SUP from cisco. Currently my core swicth 2 is running with single SUP. Can i directly insert the new SUP engine in slot 6 (free)? will it automatically load the existing IOS from active SUP? what will happen if the new SUP has a different IOS other than the active SUP? Also is there a way to find out the IOS version without inserting in the chasy?

The idea is to move two High I/O servers to the N5K during a transitional phase. I already have a fair understanding of what Jumbo-Frames are and what it does. Keep Jumbo-Frames within the N5K ONLY.
Conditions:
- Traffic is Data traffic, not storage/iSCSI
- The servers host our ERP applications and MySQL that is accessed heavily by users
- N5K to C3750G connectivity is a Port-Channel consisting of 4x1GB ports
- The servers are to remain on VLAN 2 (Data VLAN)
- The Core Switch is L3 and the boundaries reside here
I had 2 3750 stacked and one of them decided to die (power supply) cisco replaced it and now i want to re-add that switch to stack. I have already upgraded my replacement switch to the same IOS version.I was reading that i can do it without powering down operational 3750 so the action plan so far is:
-power down NEW member
-connect stacking cable
-power up
as you can see my switch 2 is now a master and it still holds config of all Gi ports for switch 1. If i connect my NEW switch without any config (vlan.dat and startup-config) will my existing switch 2 copy all ports config to new switch ?
i have a cisco router (3900 series) and a add on module (4 x 1 Gig port module). For some reason i cant seem to port channel them and cant do routing (can set an ip address on those ports). I can do port channel and routing on on-board ports. Do i have to enable any commands to do this ?

I will need to break one of the stack rings between SW1 and SW2 in order to connect the new switches. Does it really matter which ring I break to connect the additional switches? Does one ring act as primary? If so, I'd rather not break that ring so this process is transparent as possible. Also, is there any benefit to disabling the stack port vs just disconnecting the cable?
Our customer has a stack of 6 3750G switches. They want to add another switch to the stack. I tried to quote another G, but I got a warning that the G series is EOS January 30,2013. I would like to change the subnet of the second switch, WS-C3548-XL, to be on 192.168.2.0 /24. Would it be possible to assign 192.168.2.x IP addresses to both uplink ports to achive this?
Or would I need to create a separate VLAN and assign both GigabitEthernet0/1 uplink ports to this VLAN?
