i have a cisco router (3900 series) and a add on module (4 x 1 Gig port module). For some reason i cant seem to port channel them and cant do routing (can set an ip address on those ports). I can do port channel and routing on on-board ports. Do i have to enable any commands to do this ?

From cisco web portal, CAT 4500 should support PBR as below:"Policies can be based on IP address, port numbers, or protocols. For a simple policy, use any one of these descriptors; for a complicated policy, use all of them." url...
Does 3900 router has the same features on the PBR? if yes, can it support "source tcp port" and/or "destination TCP port"?

Transparent and multi- context modes also work with the VSS in this configuration. However, though the SUP 720-3B (WS-SUP720-3B and WS-SUP720-3BXL) is supported by the ASA Services Module, it is not capable of supporting the VSS. No reference to Supervisor-2T.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new 3650x switch that I was configuring via console and left it on overnight; this was friday night ( I forgot to keep the air conditioner on). When I returned Sunday afternoon and checked the switch I realized that the SYS and STAT lights on the front were not on, however the Leds on the PS module were still on. I powered it down and turn it on again but still there are no lights on the front. The PS OK and AC OK leds on the PS module are on but I noticed the leds on the two fan modules are not green or even amber; they are off.When I first turned on the switch I remembered distinctly that there were loud noice and if all fans were in overdrive mode for a few seconds then the went to normal. I'm not gettgin this loud noise phenomenom.

Suffered a big outage on the network, the fix was to reload the module 3 on the 6509 switch, we had these errors on the log %CONST_DIAG-SW1_SP-3-HM_PORT_TEST_FAIL: Switch 1 Module 3 TestUnusedPortLoopback Port(s)[24,46] failed. System operation continues.in the end, we reloaded the card and it was all ok. is there anything I can do to check the card / or any deeper logs? would that error cause the card to crash?

Through the router console, I tried assigning an IP address to the router Gi1/1 interface which I assume is the link to the Etherswitch module but all I'm getting is "IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links" - as per the docs, I should be able to assign an IP address on that "logical" interface link. I'm trying to set up a 2951 with a 24 port switch module. I want the ports to act similiarly to the ports on an 881 router - where I assign the VLANs on the router and I set the VLANs to the switchport interfaces.I would like to be able to create the VLANs on the router portion of the 2951 and then, enter the switch module and configure the Ports to the VLANs but, how do I logically connect router to the switch? Is it an internal logical interface - meaning how are the VLANs getting from the router to the switch?
