For some reason i cant seem to port channel them and cant do routing (can set an ip address on those ports). I can do port channel and routing on on-board ports. Apr 12, 2012Using the new SUP-2T, need to clarify one query. If we are using the new SUP-2T in VSS mode, will the new ASA service module and NAM-3 are supported? From Cisco site, ASA module FAQ:
Q. Will the ASA Services Module support the Cisco Catalyst Virtual Switching System (VSS) at FCS?
A. Yes, depending on which supervisor you use. The ASA Services Module supports VSS either as a single firewall or as a failover pair of firewalls, when used with the Supervisor 720-10G (VS-S720-10G-3C and VS-S720-10G-3CXL). Transparent and multi- context modes also work with the VSS in this configuration. However, though the SUP 720-3B (WS-SUP720-3B and WS-SUP720-3BXL) is supported by the ASA Services Module, it is not capable of supporting the VSS. No reference to Supervisor-2T.

Mar 3, 2013I have a brand new 3650x switch that I was configuring via console and left it on overnight; this was friday night ( I forgot to keep the air conditioner on). When I returned Sunday afternoon and checked the switch I realized that the SYS and STAT lights on the front were not on, however the Leds on the PS module were still on. I powered it down and turn it on again but still there are no lights on the front. The PS OK and AC OK leds on the PS module are on but I noticed the leds on the two fan modules are not green or even amber; they are off.When I first turned on the switch I remembered distinctly that there were loud noice and if all fans were in overdrive mode for a few seconds then the went to normal. I'm not gettgin this loud noise phenomenom.

Jul 31, 2012Suffered a big outage on the network, the fix was to reload the module 3 on the 6509 switch, we had these errors on the log %CONST_DIAG-SW1_SP-3-HM_PORT_TEST_FAIL: Switch 1 Module 3 TestUnusedPortLoopback Port(s)[24,46] failed. System operation continues.in the end, we reloaded the card and it was all ok. is there anything I can do to check the card / or any deeper logs? would that error cause the card to crash?

Through the router console, I tried assigning an IP address to the router Gi1/1 interface which I assume is the link to the Etherswitch module but all I'm getting is "IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links" - as per the docs, I should be able to assign an IP address on that "logical" interface link. Any other way for me to configure the ports on that switch module?

I want the ports to act similiarly to the ports on an 881 router - where I assign the VLANs on the router and I set the VLANs to the switchport interfaces.I would like to be able to create the VLANs on the router portion of the 2951 and then, enter the switch module and configure the Ports to the VLANs but, how do I logically connect router to the switch? Is it an internal logical interface - meaning how are the VLANs getting from the router to the switch?

Dec 29, 2011A product I could have used a number of times is a expanded version of the C3KX-NM-1G device module. To include 2 or maybe 4 more SFP ports. From the layout behind the faceplate there is plenty of space which additional circuit boards could be placed, (which is used in the 2 port 10GB version). I don't need the 12 port fiber switch that Cisco has, because I need a few RJ45 connection at that location, which I would then have to buy additional Fiber to coper Gbics for a few connections where the switch is at. The reason I need something like this is I have a few locations which I get a main feed from the City fiber, then it gets sent out to a number of local buildings on my fiber. Maybe another option is to take the 12port switch, and have an option for 6 rj45 and 6 sfp connections.

Feb 17, 2013We are looking to purchase some addidtional 48 port swithches for our network. Currently we have the following swtiches setup
2 of 3750 POE-24 (These two are stacked and have our servers plugged into them). Currently no SFP modules.
3 of 3560 POE-24 (These each have two 1000BASE-T SFP modules in them, with UTP connecting back to the 3750 switches above)
We are looking to get 2 of 48 port C2960S-48TS-L switches with two 1000BASE-T SFP modules in each that then will also connect back to the 3750 switches.
I had a few of question about this:
Will the cisco lite version (rather than the more expensive cisco base software) support the 1000BASE-T SFP modules?
The 1000BASE-T SFP modules, are they auto-config? Have you the link for commands we can use, if required?
We don't have budget for stack modules, apart from that would you recommend we change anything with the new setup?
