View 1 Replies View RelatedWe are replacing two 3750E switches with 4500X using cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.03.02.SG.15111.GS2
1. is there a command reference available for this ios - can't seem to find out
2. Im using GLC-T gbics and we normally would set the speed to either 100 or 1000 now that option does not seem to be available.
3. when I entered username etc. I got a message " CLI deprecated soon".
when the VSS will be supported on Catalyst Supervisor Engine 7-E or 7-LE and on Catalyst 4500-X?And does VSS will require Enterprise license ? or the IP base will be enaugh?

View 6 Replies View Relatedim currenly configuring a 4500X with 16 port. All sfp are 1Gig, but when I input show ip int brief, it shows that the interfaces are on 10 Gig. Does Catalyst 4500X already support the 1Gig SFP without inputting a command or do I have to configure it to activate the 1Gig interface?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAre all ports on Catalyst 4500X Gigabit/10-Gigabit or just the ports on 8-port module. We are looking at 4500X for campus distribution layer but need Gig ports to access switches for now and may year from now will be using 10G.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out how to (or if I can) setup the management interfaces (fa1) on a couple of new 4500X switches. My issue is that the 4500X's themselves are the gateway for my management VLAN (.1 HSRP virtual, .2 and .3 SVIs on the pair of switches).
I would like to assign addresses from the management VLAN to the router Fa1 management interfaces but the software configuration guide seems to note this is not supported (and indeed it doesn't seem to work).
Physically I have Fa1 from core-1 into a port on an adjacent switch. Fa1 from core-2 also goes into a port on that adjacent switch. Both are in my management VLAN, whose SVIs are on the cores themselves.
I am little confused with all these SFP types.
Can I use GLC-LH-SM, GLC-LH-SMD and SFP-GE-L with Twingig converter module? When I used Cisco configuration tool, the only option is GLC-LH-SMD for 1000BASE-LX.
Got a question for 4900m with TwinGigi Converter. I bought couple TwinGigi Convert thinking to use it on fix module ports (8 * 10G ports on 4900m ten1/1 to 1/8). I follow TwinGigi configuration guide [URL]however, I am getting Invalid commands on hw-module:
Switch(config)#hw-module module 1 ?

Switch(config)#hw-module module 2 ?

I am interesting if 3560x supports ePAgP. I have VSS which is formed by two 4500x switches. Can I use 3560x, which is connected two both VSS members via 10Gb optics for Dual Active detection ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have probem with symmetric load balancig, in case when both ends of ether channel are on the sam switch (we are using VLAN translation). We need to create L2 port channel with both ends on same switch (Cisco WS-C4500X-24X-ES), for example:Po1 – Gi0/1, Gi0/3 (one end of port channel )Po2 – Gi0/2, Gi0/4 (other end of port channel)On ports in Po2 we will configure VLAN mapping. My question is what is the best ether-channel load-balancing scheme with wich we can accomplish full symmetry in both directions? For example, if traffic in one direction goes through Gi0/1 (member of Po1), in other direction also must go through Gi0/1. This is required because we need to connect four appliances for DPI (they are full L2 transparent) and traffic through each appliance need to be symmetric.
I can set-up src-ip, dst-ip, src-dst-ip etc. load balancing, but, actually I need src-ip on Po1 and dst-ip on Po2. Is there any way to set up different load balancing mechanism for different ether channel on same switch (4500X).
When will the WS-4500X-32 support the TrustSec MACsec Encryption ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to upgrade some of the netwotk in my workplace. To do this I have istalled a 24port Catalyst 3560X switch.I'm looking to link it to my exsisting network via fibre.
I spoke to a local Cisco supplyer who recomended the above switch and an Allied Telesis Media converter.
I cannot seem to get the Allied Telesis unit to connect to the cisco switch.I have proved the fibre link by connecting 2 AT Media converters over the fibre.Do I have to enable something on the Catalyst switch or is the AT Media converter not compatible with the Catalyst switch?

To do that I would like to be able to sniff the traffic traversing our 7k. However, as the 7k doesn't support remote span we have to span locally. This means that I have to connect a pc to the Nexus and sent the span output to that port. However, our 7K is only equipped with N7K-M108X2-12L modules, which contains X2 10G ports. I found the CVR-X2-SFP10G X2 to SFP+ convertor module, but I wonder whether this supports a 1G copper SFP. If it doesn't it would be wasteful to buy one. On the page concerning the module I only found 10G fiber sfp's which are supported.
I have a 4506-E with the following supervisor module:WS-X45-SUP6-E
It currently has 2 TwinGig converter modules installed. I want to upgrade the 2 1Gb connections to 2 10Gb connections. First I took out the converter modules and installed 2 X2-10Gb-SR's, but it didnt recognize ("No X2 GBIC")???
Then, I put the converter module back in and put two SFP-10GB-SR's in them, but they don't recognize either...???? I"m running IOS
12.2(54)SG1.
According to the 10Gb matrix, they should work:

I have made a routed port on 3560G Switch and defined a pool 172.28.4.62 255.255.255.192 and connected to E1 converter RAD (4E1 to 4 FE) the E1 media is through Microwave on the other end same E1 converter is connected through layer 2 switch and defined a pool as of routed port configured in 3560G switch.
The port is generating lot of giants and after a while it also distrubs other routes ( Port1 to Port 16), configured with Vlan11 and port 22 as routed port.I have checked the routed port through wireshark the maximum frame size is 1514 and configured the MTU to 1514, giants are not showing any more but after 10 to 12 hours switch gets hang. Either to shut the port or to reload the switch to get switch and other layer routes to be normal.
I have checked speed and duplex settings same as E1 converter. Full duplex. 100 Speed. Why switch is not behaving normal. If I shutdown the routed port it is normal.

We have some ASR WAN routers which have a dedicated 400M interface to a remote site.
Servers on our Local network source the data through some firewalls via 10G interfaces, which connects to 4500X WAN switches then to the Routers on 1G links.
The sources are rate limiting the traffic but the routers are periodically dropping packets which I think is mostly due to burstiness in the traffic between as it traverses through from 10G links to 1G then to 400M.
How to setup traffic shaping on the 4500X outbound port to our WAN routers.I'd like to see if we could buffer and smoothe out the traffic as it exits the 4500X WAN switch 1G port to the WAN Routers.
I am calculating Cisco 4500X power consumption requirements to select appropriate UPS systems. I have 4500X switch with dual power supplies.which value should I take for power consumption calculation, in data sheet it has two values: AC Power Max Rating: 750W System Power Consumption: 330W nominal/400W max
Which values should I take, to calculate UPS systems capacity? And also I am interesting when 4500x has two power supplies what is power consumption?
I want to integrate my ACS 5.1 with AD, My request is to check for the machine authentication first. If the machine authentication passes the client username/password should be validated and client should be put in vlan X . If the machine authentication fails, the client username/password should be validated. If the authentication passes the client should be put in vlan Y.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDo these powerline "twin packs" provide a way to connect 2 things at once to the internet, or does that require 3 adapters? I'm assuming one connects to my router, then one to my PC. I'd like to connect my Xbox and my PC on the same network (Though they're in the same room), is this something that can be done with a "twin pack"?I've looked around a bit, and it would seem the twin packs allow you to connect one to your router, and one to your PC/Xbox etc. If this is true, then the single packs just provide an "extra" one, should you need to connect in more places. I've also seen some 4 port adapters, but these seem expensive, and I would have to buy a 4 port adapter, and a single port adapter for my router?

I know there's plenty of "dumb" media converter choices out there, but was hoping to get one that has a console conn or the like to troubleshoot any possible issues. I'm converting between 50nm multi-mode fiber with an SC connector to 1000-bT copper.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my vpn concentrator. I cannot access it through console, I have tried every baud rate that is available on my SecureCrt but it won't display anything. At first, I thought that my console cable is defective but I was able to access a WLC via console cable together with the rj45 to db9 converter. I also tried connecting the vpn concentrator to a switch and enable the cdp in the switch but the "show cdp neighbor" can't detect or display the vpn concentrator even if the interface status is "up up". Is it safe to say that the VPN concentrator is already broken?
