Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3945 / Using CBWFQ Before Reaching Interface Max Bandwidth

Jan 11, 2012

CBWFQ kicks in when the interface becomes congested and there is no available space in the queue but I need to find a solution to the scenario below:Im using a Gigabit interface on the 3945 Router that connects to the ISP. The ISP limits bandwidth to 60Mb so I need to make sure when I reach the limit of the 60Mb the router starts using the BW percentages defined in the policy-map using classes. any kind of traffic go out as it wants but as soon as the 60Mb limit is reached, the priorities defined by the traffic classes will kick in just as if the interface ran out of queues (as CBWFQ usually works).

Cisco WAN :: C7200 - CPU And BGP Updates

Mar 16, 2010

we have some strange problem on our c7200 IOS 12.2(31) with an e BGP peer. the eBGP session begins as usual and without any problem, all prefixes (Full BGP table) are announced to the neighbor, of course during this time the CPU goes high up to 80%. Then the both peers are in sync and traffic run as usual, but after some minutes the CPU goes again up to 80% and the debug on the neighbor side shows that it gets again the BGP updates for all  BGP  prefixes from our 7200 with "rejected - duplicated" comments for every received prefix, it means that it gets the updates for prefixes which are already exists in BGP table.

And it happens every 3-5 minutes.  Truly said I can't explain why our 7200 always tries to send the Full bgp table again and again. The work-around was to configure the peer with "soft inbound", it's OK and we'd like to use it anyway , but from my opinion BGP shouldn't send Full BGP table very 5 minutes without "soft inbound" as well.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 7010 / VSS - Does It Support Virtual Switching?

Does the nexus 7010 support virtual switching yet?  All of the posts I have found from about a year ago say that it is going to be supported, but there were no dates listed.  I heard the same thing from Cisco a while back, but haven't followed up with it.If it is supported finally are there any configuration guides available for it?

Cisco WAN :: C7200-IK9SU2-M / QoS Traffic Shaping Not Working (but Policing Does Work)

Feb 8, 2011

I have lots of PPPoE users that get Virtual Access interfaces created upon login based on a virtual template. I need to traffic shape them. I know how to get it to work on an individual basis, because the policing within a service policy works fine. As soon as i change it to shaping it leaves things wide open.I really dont care how it gets done, I just need to be able to specify a speed to be traffic shaped and apply that to a virtual template. I need to limit speeds on the download and upload, i understand that the upload i will use the policing, but the download i need it to smooth out the flow and be traffic shaped, not policed.

Here is my Policies and classes:

***
policy-map CHILD class class-default  bandwidth 1650policy-map PARENT class class-default  shape average 1650000  service-policy CHILD****
Here is my Virtual Template:
****
interface Virtual-Template8 description pppoe-auth-FTTH ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0 ip access-group subs-in-FTTH in ip mtu 1493 timeout absolute 6120 0 peer default ip address pool FTTH-POOL ppp authentication pap pppoe-auth ppp authorization pppoe-auth ppp timeout idle 84600 service-policy output PARENT

[code]....

The results i am getting is unrestrcited throughput, i am seeing about 40mb of throughput when the target is to limit to 1.65MB. As you can see from the output the PARENT class is seeing 279116 packets, but the shaper only saw 59. In all the examples i see on the internet these two numbers should be the same. Why is the shaper not acting on all the traffic crossing that class/policy?

Hardware/IOS:
Cisco IOS Software, 7200 Software (C7200-IK9SU2-M), Version 12.4(12), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Cisco WAN :: 3845 - CBWFQ / Metro E Configuration

Sep 19, 2011

I have a 50 Mbps metro ethernet connection between our main office, and our collocation site, where we store web servers, DR equipment and VPN access gateways.  I have two Cisco 3845 ISR's connected to the metro E circuit.  The interfaces on each router are configured as 100/full as requested by my ISP.  We are connected via ethernet to a fiber media converter.

As I understand, CBFWQ will not kick in until congestion occurs on an interface.  I also understand that the bandwidth command on an interface is to provide bandwidth related information to upper level protocols (like EIGRP, etc).

My question is that since the interface where I have CBWFQ configured on is at 100 Mbps, but my circuit is at 50Mbps, how can I get my routers to kick CBWFQ in when traffic demand exceeds 50Mbps+?  Does the bandwidth command on the interface control that as well?

Cisco WAN :: ASR 1002F - Per Tunnel QoS And Physical Interface CBWFQ

Jun 5, 2012

I am preparing configuration (currently in lab) for Per-Tunnel QoS in DMVPN on ASR 1002F for one of our customers, and I came across one issue. According to restrictions for this feature, I cannot apply per-tunnel QoS in conjunction with interface based QoS. This means, I can provide shaping with hierarchical CBWFQ for each spoke, but I cannot guarantee anything on physical interface! What if there are services in native MPLS? I am also unable give reservations for BGP which is used on PE-CE link! How about monitoring spoke PE-CE links natively? I can only apply policy-map with class-default on physical interface. When I add anything related to queuing for that class (or any other non-default class) I get the message:

R1(config- pmap)class routing
R1(config- pmap-c)#bandwidth 16
service-policy with queuing features on sessions is not allowed in conjunction with interface based

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Does 4500 Support VSS?

Feb 28, 2012

Does the 4500 support VSS (Virtual Switching System) ? On the official product overview page it says: 1.6 Terabits capacity with Virtual Switching System (hardware-ready)What means Hardware ready ? Does it mean that it supports VSS in the same manner as the 6500 ? The reason I'm asking this question is that I didn't find any info on the Internet about this. We would like to upgrade our network by interconnecting the 2 sites with Layer 2 redundant links (Layer 2 extension), but I'd like to use the both links in a load-balancing manner, which can be a real pain in the *** with STP. The choice is between 4500 and 3750 stackable  core switches. The 6500s are very expensive.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560G - PBR Support

Feb 2, 2012

I have a 3560G switch with c3560-advipservicesk9-mz.122-46.SE and 2 routers. The switch has vlans defined. I want to route all traffic on vlan 25 out of one of the routers exclusively. Here is what I have attempted:

-Set the SDM template to routing & reload
-Define an access-list for the v lan traffic
-Define the route-map
-Apply the route-map to the vlan interface

When I attempt the last step I receive the following syslog error:

%PLATFORM_PBR-3-UNSUPPORTED_RMAP: Route-map RM_IMDGuest not supported for Policy-Based Routing

Also, the  route-map is removed from the vlan interface after this error is thrown. Im 99% confident that PBR is supported on this switch (am I wrong?). Here is the relevant show output:...

access-list 125 permit ip 192.168.25.0 0.0.0.255 any
route-map RM_IMDGuest permit 10
match ip address 125

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ME 3400 - VTP Support

Sep 13, 2010

We purchased ME 3400 switch and trying to implement it. But its quite surprising in the ME3400 configuration guide that the switch does not support VTP. When I checked in Feature navigator under feature "VTP" i could see ME3400 supports VTP. But when i get into CLI of ME3400, i am not getting any option of configuring VTP. I could see in some sites VMPS is supported in ME3400.

I would like to confirm the following:
1. Does VTP support present in ME3400 or not? If not, what would be the reason that it is not included in ME3400.
2. If not what is the alternative.

Network is already running VTP of around 30 switches.
