Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 4507R+E With WS-X4748 Blade - Ports Not Working
Mar 28, 2011I have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R+E (with Sup7-E) and two blades; one WS-X4748-RJ45V+E and one WS-X4648-RJ45-E.
When I connect a device to a port on the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade the port will not come up, show interface shows the status as "notconnect". When I connect the same device to the WS-X4648-RJ45-E blade the interface comes up.
The WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade seems to have initialised okay, it appears in the output of "show module" as OK.
I get exactly the same effect on a second, identically configured Catalyst 4507R+E.
The software version is IOS XE 3.1.0SG, which according to the release notes supports the WS-X4748-RJ45V+E blade

Dec 29, 2011A product I could have used a number of times is a expanded version of the C3KX-NM-1G device module. To include 2 or maybe 4 more SFP ports. From the layout behind the faceplate there is plenty of space which additional circuit boards could be placed, (which is used in the 2 port 10GB version). I don't need the 12 port fiber switch that Cisco has, because I need a few RJ45 connection at that location, which I would then have to buy additional Fiber to coper Gbics for a few connections where the switch is at. The reason I need something like this is I have a few locations which I get a main feed from the City fiber, then it gets sent out to a number of local buildings on my fiber. Maybe another option is to take the 12port switch, and have an option for 6 rj45 and 6 sfp connections.

Dec 13, 2011Any limitation on building an etherchannel on the abovementioned linecard, when bundling more than one port on the same card? The 4506 is using a 6L-E supervisor engine 12.2(54)SG1.
If it's done on a 6500 with a WS-X6148-GE-TX linecard it effectivley can only reach 1gb throughput.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: Additional RJ45 Port Required On 1941 ISR
Nov 16, 2012One of branch locations has a Cisco 1941 Router . The port details are as follows
-Gi0/0 - ISP line
-Gi0/1 - Inside Network ( To a 2960 Switch)
Now they have procurred another line from ISP through which MPLS based VPN to the Main location is configured. What are the options I have , to terminate it on the Router ? As all the On board LAN ports are filled I guess I wont be able to do anything with the current setup .Are Switching modules available ? What is the Embedded-Service-Engine0/0 port that I see on #sh ip int b output ?

Jun 29, 2012I have cat4500 with subject module. There is strange behaviour over module installed in 3rd slot only, some ports are connected, UP & working fine. But If I am connecting new ports over same module, are not coming UP.Duplex/speed settings already checked & are fine. If i connect same machine to any other module, it perfectly comes up & operation is fine.

Mar 4, 2013We have recently purchased 2 x 4900M switches with the following configuration:
2 x X2-10GB-SR installed in port te1/1, 1/2 (optical)
1 x 20 x 1GB RJ45 installed in the top left of chasis ge2/1 - 2/20
1 x WS-X4908-10G-RJ45 8 port 1/2 card in the top right of chassis te3/1 - 3/8
We have te1/1 connecting the 2 switches, and various vlan's and connections on the 1GB RJ45's with no problems.
However, we have a number of 10Gbps BaseT connections te3/1 - te3/5 which are causing us issues. On a reload of the switch or removal / re-install of the cable it can take anywhere up to an hour for the port to become active again. So when we reload the switch, we may get a connection come up after say 3 mins, but the port next to it may not come up for 15-60 min. The cabling is all the same (CAT6 and has been tested/verified) and all connections go to Broadcom 10Gb cards in Dell 820 servers running vmware. We have the following set on the ports:
switchport mode access
spanning-tree portfast
No speed or duplex can be set on these ports - these options are not available in the config.
Once a link is finally established, it will hold the link solid with no problems, but this is a problem for us, we can't have a reboot take an undetermined amount of time for the link to come back.

There is no RJ45 1G uplink , there is only option for SFP uplink The another option was WS-C2960G-48TC-L , but there is no dual AC power supply option a good model ( Dual AC power supply , RJ 45 uplink ports (Gig) , with 48 port 100/1000 UTP)

Nov 5, 2012I've got a 3560-X that passes POST according to console, but there are issues nonetheless...USB console doesn't work. RJ45 works just fine. No status lights turn on at any point (e.g. syst, xps...). 10g network module is installed with a 10g LRM SFP. All lights on the module are amber. However, it passes according to POST. Switch passes traffic, obeys config, etc. Link lights on RJ45 ports work fine. This was brand new out of the box. Thinking about trying IOS reload..

The choice is between 4500 and 3750 stackable core switches. The 6500s are very expensive.

Feb 2, 2012 I have a 3560G switch with c3560-advipservicesk9-mz.122-46.SE and 2 routers. The switch has vlans defined. I want to route all traffic on vlan 25 out of one of the routers exclusively. Here is what I have attempted:
-Set the SDM template to routing & reload
-Define an access-list for the v lan traffic
-Define the route-map
-Apply the route-map to the vlan interface
When I attempt the last step I receive the following syslog error:
%PLATFORM_PBR-3-UNSUPPORTED_RMAP: Route-map RM_IMDGuest not supported for Policy-Based Routing
Also, the route-map is removed from the vlan interface after this error is thrown. Im 99% confident that PBR is supported on this switch (am I wrong?). Here is the relevant show output:...

Sep 13, 2010We purchased ME 3400 switch and trying to implement it. But its quite surprising in the ME3400 configuration guide that the switch does not support VTP. When I checked in Feature navigator under feature "VTP" i could see ME3400 supports VTP. But when i get into CLI of ME3400, i am not getting any option of configuring VTP. I could see in some sites VMPS is supported in ME3400.
I would like to confirm the following:
1. Does VTP support present in ME3400 or not? If not, what would be the reason that it is not included in ME3400.
2. If not what is the alternative.
Network is already running VTP of around 30 switches.
