Cisco Switching/Routing :: Command To Show Physical Connection In 3660
Jun 19, 2012
I am using cisco c3660 to act as Terminal Server for the communication of production machines in my company, recently there is a communication lost issue happen and its due to physical cable unplug from the machine. to troubleshoot for this issues i have to physically go inside my production area to check on it, as i understand from vendor we can check on the physical machine to see whether the LED light on the module is green or not, but in case of need to troubleshoot at night time, its time consuming as i need to travel back to company. is there any command that i can issue in the router c3660 to check on the physical connection between c3660 router and the production machine? the IOS version is IOS (tm) 3600 Software (C3660-I-M), Version 12.1(4)
is there a command available to run diagnostics in ASR port/SPA? the one below is from a juniper remote device. i was only able to find 'test interface' but haven't run this yet (currently in production).
We have Nexus 7K recently installed few months back with 2 Sup (Slot 5 & Slot 6).Recently recevied mesaanges in monitoring servervia SNMP:Alarm : active unit removal caused an auto SWACT However, when checked there are no recent logs which may be linked to this alarm. The show redundancy command output shows that Sup in slot 5 is active which in slot 6 is Hot Standby.
I enabled the "no service password-recovery" command on my C2960 switch. All seems to work as discribed. Only issue I have is --- which show command is used to reveal if the password-recovery feature is enabled of disabled as the command doesn't show up in the running config after you enable it ?
NOTE: The command does show up in the C2960 switch in config t mode (unlike the IOS router 2800 series), but doesn't show up in the running-config after you enable or disable it.
On the 2800 series routers (latest IOS) in config t mode the command does not show up but if you type "no service passowrd-recovery" the command function correctly and it does list it in the running configuration.
I have been working on some Catalyst 3750's running 12.2(55)SE6 and hit an issue with CEF load-balancing over multiple equal-cost paths. Anyway this issue is now solved but it introduced me to the command 'show platform forward' - this shows you how the forwarding of a packet would be done via hardware cef (as opposed to the command 'sho ip cef exact-route' command that only shows the software cef path). Anyway I tried the command on a 3560G running 15.0(2)SE and it crashes the switch. I tried it a couple of times and verified that the MAC & IP addresses were exactly right in the command and each time the switch crashes. I have extracted the relevant bits from the crashinfo and attached them.
How filter inbound routes in Cisco ASA OSPF? Because Cisco ASA has no "distibute-list" command for OSFP process configuration, I try to use "filter-list" command in area definition. So, I try to use next configuration:
I have a good working knowledge of TCP/IP networking. I have a Cisco 3660 router I'm wanting to use in place of a WRT54G router with my Charter cable internet service. I saw a youtube video where a guy demonstrated how to use a Cisco 2600 series router with home broadband service. I followed the video to setup my 3660 router. I can ping the LAN side (192.168.1.1) with no problem, the DHCP functions as it should. I can see activity on the on the WAN port indicator but no internet access. I have attached .doc file that shows the "sho run" info. My network will be setup as follows Charter Cable Motorola Surf Modem - ethernet to MM fiber converter - MM fiber over to Sun Microsystems cabinet fiber closet - MM fiber card (on Cisco 3660 router FA6/0 WAN interface) - LAN interface FA0/0 - Cisco 3524 managed switch. One of the gigabit MM fiber ports on the Cisco 3524 feeds a 3Com Superstack 12 port gigabit fiber managed switch. My two Dell 2950 servers will be on the Superstack gigabit fiber backbone. The Cisco 3524 10/100 ports will have a Cisco access point, two IP addressible battery backup units, two Dell Desktops, and a LG Blu Ray player.
I have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.
Facing issue with 2960G switch , where its do not display "logging trap informational " in show running and show startup .where its showing all other levels from 0 to 5 and 7 after configuration and save commands. [code] after config getting saved , it do not shows in show runn or in show startup while for all other levels it do show the config lines .I tried the same on 12.55.SE release also but its same results . Is this a limitaion of this platform, is there any doc explaining the same for reference. [code]
We're having an issue with the command "cts dot1x" when applied to an uplink interface. It basically kils the connection with this command is applied. Once you remove it, everything is back to normal, the platform is a cisco 3750x.
I think I might have a problem with how my network is set up.
Cable Modem --->ASA5505--->Cisco 3660--->Switch For some reason if I use the ASA as a DHCP server too, the internet is much faster. Could the 3660 be slowing down the netwok? The 3660 has 2 FE ports, so it should be running good at 10/100 correct? Is there another setup I should consider to speed up the network? [code]
I have a pair of router Cisco 2800 running in HSRP, now I want to configure one sub interface with another sub net, Will my current IP on physical interface work or do I need to create two Sub interfaces for each network. Do i must need encapsulation on sub interface
Current Config:-
Router 1:- interface FastEthernet0/1description Connect to LAN_SW1 Gi1/0/1ip address 192.168.1.13 255.255.255.0no ip redirectsduplex autospeed autostandby 1 ip 192.168.1.1standby 1 priority 90standby 1 preempt Router 2:- interface FastEthernet0/1description Connect to LAN_SW2 Gi1/0/1ip address 192.168.1.3 255.255.255.0no ip redirectsduplex autospeed autostandby 1 ip 192.168.1.1standby 1 priority 110standby 1 preempt
For second network I do not require HSRP Router 1:- interface FastEthernet0/0description Connect to LAN_SW1 Gi1/0/1no ip addressduplex fullspeed 100 [ code]... Router 2:- interface FastEthernet0/0description Connect to LAN_SW2 Gi1/0/1no ip addressduplex fullspeed 100 [Code]...
I've been tasked with breaking up a network that has run out of IP's, and have decided to use VLANs to accomplish this. I have to use an ASA5510 to accomplish all the routing between hosts in different VLANs.Port 48 is trunked to the ASA eth0/0 interface, with VLAN 99 and VLAN 20 tagging packets, VLAN 1 Untagged. Hosts hooked up to appropriate ports on Switch.
I have 2 ASA5510's acting as routers/firewalls, setup on a LAN, each one pointing to a different gateway (different ISPs), and the exact same VLANs set up as sub-interfaces on each of these. Both act as DHCP relays to a Windows Server 2008 DHCP server. All the Trunking has been setup and works. When I Untag a switch port, and point it to whichever gateway?
vlan interface and physical interface (that is serving for this vlan ) have different input/output counters, there is only one physical interface in this vlan .
sh int vlan 64 30 second input rate 9000 bits/sec, 9 packets/sec 30 second output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
WE got our ESXi servers recently moved from a 6513 to nexus 2000 FEXs uplinked to a nexus 5000s basically we have enhanced vPC and nics goin to 2 different FEXs and they uplink to 2 nexus 5000.
the Vswitch for VMs is setup in a VPC. Question is do the traffic from each vm going in/out of these nics in a vpc actually use both physical links? How can i tell from the switch?
We have recently upgraded oor LAN and we are using couple of Nexus5548UP switches in the core with 2960 stacks as access switches. Each access switches stack is connnected to both core switches with link being port-chanels and VPCs. All is working fine, but our SolarWinds management platform (NPM) is being flooded with "Physical Address changed" events. Here is an example of messages:
NSW_Core_2 - Ethernet1/7 Physical Address changed from 000000003811 to 73616D653811 NSW_Core_2 - Ethernet1/7 Physical Address changed from 200B82B43811 to 000000003811
For each interface I have messages like these repeating.I am not sure what those messages means or if there is actually anything wrong. Performance of the network is good, there are no errors on any interfaces and I do not see anything related in the switch loggs.
how to configure this. I did it in the past but kind of forgot how I did it.I have a stacked 3750 (two physical switches) connecting to a 2960.
I am creating trunk ports with limited access to VLAN 300, 600, and 700.
There is two interfaces connected from the 3750's(one on each physical stack member) to the 2960.I have the physical interfaces configured exactly the same.
Should I keep the configuration on the physical ports and not configure the Port-Channel Interfaces? Do I need to configure port-channel load balancing? Is the channel-group mode sufficient? Goal is to basically create 2 links to the 2960 to double the bandwidth and provide redundancy.
I am wanting to take my cable internet connect and give it to the other to networks and be able to communicate between the two networks. I believe this can be accomplished by IP routing, but have no clue on how to do it. What I would need to input into the 3660 to make it work? Right now the 3660 has the factory default setup, I haven't configured anything on that yet.
I've Nexus 7010 switch installed in my DC. I've conncected Cisco router to one of the Ports. On the same port I'm getting following error message and hence, unable to form EIGRP neighborship.
DR-CORE-SW-S01-NEXUS7K %MODULE-2-MOD_SOMEPORTS_FAILED: Module 1 (serial: JAF*******NGK) reported failure on ports 1/2-1/2 (Ethernet) due to R2D2 : Speed patch failed - no frames transmitted in device 143 (error 0xc8f0 1273)
i have ADSL. modem:Meganet when i connect to internet from windows xp with making PPPOE connection everything is fine and when i do ipconfig i can see my IP. but when i connect directly from router then IPconfig show this only:
I have copied status codes from show ip bg command output and its explanation (from Cisco documentation site)., d and h (suppressed, dampened and history). I read somewhere that these are to control flapping routes. But not able to understand it completly.Raised this question in a couple of forums but didnt get a proper reply. The table entry is suppressed.??The table entry is dampened. ??The table entry history. The table entry is validThe table entry is the best entry to use for that network.
Looking for a show command to display the actual physical Ram modules inside a 2911 router. I believe they come with 2x ram slots and I need to know if it has 1 ram stick or 2.show version displays the total amount of ram, but not if its 2x128 or 1x256 etc. This is also production gear so I cannot open it up and have a look until the scheduled downtime.
Is there a command that can show EVERYTHING that is configured on a router or switchSeems if you're looking to save enough information to completely swap out a device the run/start config isn't enough.Settings like VTP and MTU settings aren't shown in the config file ... there may be other configuration settings like thisAm I forced to just know to check those settings are is there a command that will show the running-config AND all these other settings that aren't in the config?
The Cisco 887 doesn't support the show dsl command, what is the command that I need to use to display the speed my ADSL is operating at? On the Cisco 877 the command I use is show dsl int atm 0 but this doesn't work on the 887
