Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3550 - Export Mac Address From Switch To Local Machine?
Jan 8, 2013I am working on Cisco 3550 switch on a certain requirement. I have got an access point connected to the switch and few mobile phones connected to the access point. I get the list of mac addresses connected to the switch ( Both access point's mac address & the clients addresses) by "show mac-address table dynamic" command. However, i am unable/confused to get the output of the following scenarios:
1. I would require to export the mac address from the switch to the local machine in any format (May be by using an SNMP tool, if available) so that the same needs to be used in my C# for development.What would be the way for the same ?
2. The mac address in the mac address table doesn't get updated dynamically. (Eg Scenario: A wifi client gets connected to an access point which inturn is connected to the switch, the mac address of the client shows up in the switch table. However if the client is disconnected, the client's mac address would still be displayed in the switch table )

The customer has pointed out the 2960 switch does not satisfy the requirement to support 4096 multicast groups (even though it is more than adequate for the number of active multicast groups). It looks like the 3560 supports more multicast groups than the 2960, but is still far less than the requirement.

Jul 31, 2012I got a pair of new C3560X-24T-S switches with C3KX-NM-10G modules, and am trying to get a long distance 10G link up using 3rd party SFP-10G-ER SFPs (XGIGA with Cisco coded IDPROMs)I've enabled use of unsupported transcievers with the following commands:service unsupported-transceiver no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalidAfter that the switches accepts the SFPs but I get no light (sh int trans shows Tx -40), but if I insert a supported SFP first and then switches to my ER SFPs I get them to start transmitting, however I still don't LINK on the interface.I've tried with both 12.2(55)SE3 (that the switches came with) and 15.0(1)SE3 with same results.I know SFP-10G-ER SFPs are not supported on these switches, but are scheduled for the 15.0(2) release, but I was under the impression that they should already work using the above commands to enable the use of unsupported SFPs.So my question is basically: Is the new code in 15.0(2) really needed to make ER SFPs work, so I should just wait for that release, or are my 3rd party SFP simply broken/un-compatible with these switches?Also, could reprogramming them to look like SFP-10G-LR SFPs, which are supported, make any difference, or should it already have worked now with service unsupported-transceiver enabled if they were compatible?

VLAN 10 : Data
VLAN 100 : VOICE
Everything is working but i m not sure if the switchport config is right in that way.
As an example :

When we connect an Cisco 7971g and an pc everything is working fine. But when i start wireshark on the pc behind the phone you see a lot of UDP Traffic source UC520 destination 239.10.16.8 or 239.10.16.16. At this point i m getting confused. So i start looking for the cisco phone config, VLAN ID on the phone is 100 (i think that is ok) but the PC-VLAN part is empty?
The main thing is, how can i stop this cisco-sccp traffic on the pc port (prtg shows me a average of 200 kbit/s) i think it is an config fault.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: C3560X Status LED Not Working Properly?
Dec 12, 2011I have recently installed 4 3560 (WS-C3560X-48T-S) Switches. At first the switch comes up, indicating all connected ports with a green LED. Whenever i unplug a cable and plug it back in, the status LED will stay off. The same thing happens when I push the mode button and cycle throgh the different modes, i lose certain LEDs.
I'm using 12.2(53)SE2, another user reported the same issues under 12.2(55)SE1 .

Apr 24, 2013I have a WS-C3560X-24 and attached to that are some 9 acces switches, for some weeks now my 3560 reboots some time what couse that the other 9 switches are down for some minuts as well and i dont want this of course. the reboot happens at random times and some times one week not and then like yesterday afternoon it rebooted again.
when i check the Flash directory there is no crash file and when i look at the logging its clean and just shows the startup. it's not the powersuply it's redundend and more L3 switches are attached to this power source and they dont reboot.

Jul 26, 2012Struggling to find any documentation that states both "ip accounting & netflow" are supported on the new ME3600 switches. I have tried both a 12 and 15 release of software. Netflow produces no data what so ever, ip accounting only produces data (of the global network) when configured on my uplink (running MP-BGP network) unable to get specific data for user networks in seperate VRFs. Is this a case of the commands being there but not being supported?

Nov 12, 2012I met a strange problem after enabling flow-control in 2960s.my enviroment,
- 2 cisco 2960s 24ts-l have been created a stack
- IOS is 12.2(58)se2
- all ports have been enabled flowcontrol receive dersied
via show flowcontrol, I can see each Gigabyte Port have been enabled "flowcontrol receive desired" but, when I do the following tests
- connect equallogic ps4000xv to the port 21, I found the status of port is "input flow-control is off"
- connect one server with Broadcom Gigabyte Network adapter, which has been enable TX ON RX ON, or Auto, the status of the port is still "input flow-control is off"
I guess, the port status should be ""input flow-control is on". Test them with another port, I got the same result. why?

I have two sites connected with each other Site A and Site B (Using the same Cisco 2800). Now site A can connect to site B on the Cisco and the internal network, but site B can only see the Cisco and not the internal network of site A. So all the traffic is coming in to site B but can't break out of site B. I have tried everything I can think of but again my knowledge of Cisco is not good at all.

Nov 27, 2011We have a pair of 6509 working in a VSS configuration (IOS 12.2(33)SX5). The 6509s connect to a pair of ASAs (7.2 code) running in an Active/Standby setup. These ASAs in turn connect to routers going to remote sites. I have configured Netflow on the following VLANS,
VLAN 10 - Servers Vlan
VLAN 9 - Transit/ASA VLAN (connects ASAs to 6509s). All traffic originating from any VLAN on the 6509 crosses this VLAN in order to reach remote sites and vice versa
I configured the netflow source VLAN 11 although I am not collecing any netflow from it.Although I have been getting lots of Netflow info, I noticed that netflow for traffic originating from any user VLAN on the 6509s going to any remote site via TRANSIT/ASA VLAN(9) does not get reported, I even tested with 4 GB traffic but no result. Only reverse traffic (i.e. from remote site to user VLAN) is reported as it traverses the Transit VLAN (9).
I read somewhere that egress netflow is not supported in 6500, but isnt traffic originating from a user vlan to a remote site via the transit VLAN (9) considered ingress with respect to the transit VLAN (9)? I would like to know whether bidirectional Netflow is supported on 6500 VLANS. I have mimimum control on routers beyond the ASAs, and since these ASAs run 7.2 code netflow is not supported, and Monitoring this Transit Vlan gives me extremely useful info.
I do get netflow biderectional traffic from the Server Vlan 10, but I think it is correlated by the netflow collector from vlans 9 and 10. [code]

When i do sh ver it shows 3 cards installed.
When i install this 3rd serial card to other Router then light shows on card and it works fine
