Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509-E Supported Switch Modules With Latest Stable IOS 12.(33)
Oct 14, 2012I recently ran an upgrade on my 6509-E's and when the first switch came back up, 3 of the 10/100 switches that were in the chassis did not power on. After further investigation, these models are not supported by this latest IOS version. The module # is : WS-X6248-RJ-45
We have one WS-X6348-RJ-45 and since it was a few weeks ago I did this I can't remember for sure but I believe this one came up.
Where can I found the information regarding this being unsupported but I know it is out there and any page that showed me that this was unsupported with the latest stable IOS of 12.(33).
In addition to this question, I have approval to purchase some newer gigabit switches that will be supported by this new IOS version and hopefully at least the next few over the next few years. Which specific gig models are currently and hopefully should be supported for the next few years? I don't need PoE or anything spectacular, just regular switches that are attached to either servers or virtual hosts. I've been looking at the lists of what is out there and it seems like there are hundreds of different models and it is becoming difficult to determine what is what.

Aug 28, 2012Is it possible to have one netflow export profile (may not be the right word...) to send all the flow information to one collector and another profile to only send traffic to and from centain IP addresses to another collector? If it is possible on the hardware and software, any quick sample config?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Best Current Stable IOS Version For 6509E?
Jul 2, 2012upgrade experience with the 6509E on what IOS version to use. This is a new install, so I want the most current version that supports SSH and works with dual supervisors.
Here is some information:
WS-C5609-E with 983008K/65536K bytes of memory
Current version 12.2(18)SXF17b
Slot 5 Supervisor 720 (Active)
Slot 6 Supervisor 720 (Hot)
Just need a strong base code, no advanced services. Let me know if you any additional information.

Jan 23, 2012We are close to receiving our new 6513E chassis which I will be running Sup720 cards in. This will be replacing our existing 6509 Sup2 setup in production. What current IOS version should I run on the Sup720 ? I would like to support SSH. The chassis will be populated with a couple of 6724 SFP cards, 2 6704 10 gig cards and a few 6748 line cards.Is there a good intitial config guide ?

The best solution for me would be if all the switches could be reloaded at the same time to shorten the maintenance-windows. So my question is: If I run the upgrade (archive down load -sw) before the maintenance-windows WITHOUT the reload-option, will then the switches continue to run without interruptions with the current IOS- version and config until I run reload manually?

Oct 29, 2012we have a chassis 6513-E and a module WS-X6748-GE-TX, I'd like to know if could I put this module in any slot, since the documentation from Cisco says that any slot from a chassis 6500-E Series can support this module. And then in the documentation of WS-X6748-GE-TX says that this module is not compatible in the slots 1-8 of the 6513 chassis, only from 9th to 13th slots, in those slots from the 6513-E we already have 4x WS-X6748-GE-TX, and we'd like to know if could we put the module in the rest of the slots. The 6513, and 6513-E is kind of confusing.

Dec 25, 2012I've had the DIR-655 for a few months now, along with a Motorola Surfboard sb6121 DOCSIS 3.0.Modem works fine, the router was working perfectly fine until recently last week.
I have a desktop hardwired and a wireless network going on that I use just for my mobile phone and tablet at times. At first I was having disconnection problems with my wireless, then noticed a neighbor installed a similar router in the area according to my wifi analyzer, so I changed the channels and my wireless started working great. During this process I also did a firmware update and since then I've been receiving some really poor browsing problems, sometimes I'll visit websites like Facebook, or a news website, and it'll say something about the DNS not working, (at this point I'll ping the website and it still pings fine without any loss) so I'll visit the website about 10 minutes later and it works great. I've done extensive research on forums/Google and found it must link up to the new firmware update and something about a DNS relay? My version is: Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.10NA
In other words, is there a way I can fix this issue from disconnecting without having to downgrade back to the old firmware? Or is this a common issue they'll continue to happen? If I do downgrade, HOW do I downgrade back to the stable version?

Nov 16, 2011I am having some difficulties to have a stable connection on a Cisco 881. I have a IP Sla running with an ICMP-ECHO towards the uplink router. Linked with this is a tracking on the IP SLA so I can shutdown an HRSP instance with the tracking. The desired result is with this that when the nexthop becomes unavailable HSRP switches to the second router with the backup connection.
Regardless whatever timeout or threshold, the tracking switches at a random point when the line is somewhat congested. Debugging it shows me only a time-out on the IP SLA.
Is there anything possible to get the icmp-echo to retry it 2-3 times or so before going it's status is set to failure? [code]
