Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-C3750G-24T-S / Configure Independent Routes For A Specific Network

Nov 1, 2012

I have a  WS-C3750G-24T-S layer 3 switch and I need to configure independent routes for a specific network, I'm trying to use VRF but it is not working for me. I tried using route-map but it seems the switch doesn't support that, so I'm stuck with VRF, but I think I'm not doing it right. The topology is as follows:

I have a network directly connected to a vlan and I need to forward all the traffic I get on this VLAN using a tunnel to a router. I think the problem is that in order to use the tunnel I need to utilize another VLAN which isn't part of that VRF. I attach the configuration I'm using to better understand what I'm trying to do:

layer-3 switch:

ip vrf TEST
rd 1:1
interface Tunnel1
ip vrf forwarding TEST
ip address 172.17.0.1 255.255.255.252
tunnel source 10.245.0.9
tunnel destination 10.250.4.31

[Code]....

And this is how my routing table looks on this router:

     172.17.0.0/30 is subnetted, 1 subnets
C  172.17.0.0 is directly connected, Tunnel4
C  10.250.4.0/24 is directly connected, Vlan404
S   10.245.0.8/29 [1/0] via 10.250.4.1
S*   0.0.0.0/0 [1/0] via 10.1.60.15

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Independent Opinions Needed On Network 4507

Feb 15, 2012

Our sister site had a new building and the network it was supposed to resemble the network on this site with link redundancy as far as the edge switches. After 6 months asking for the password to the equipment I finaly got it and started to plan the deployment of some phones, I got a little confused as to the layout of what had been done as CDP was not showing what I had expected.

I then used CNA to map out the site.We have 1 main server room (at the top of the picture with the two 4507 cores and a number of fixed config 1U switches)And 3 further wiring rooms at other points in the building with fixed config 1U switches.

(And a wan link to this site)In my opinion the design as it stands is significantly flawed in redundacny with multiple points of failure, and its efficiency is very poor.

Cisco WAN :: 2811 / HWIC-2SHDSL - How To Configure Two Independent SHDLS Connections Through One

Mar 16, 2010

I've been collecting information on principles of SHDSL connection. I have found plenty of examples on how to configure only one SHDSL link. Very soon I'm going to the site to install two independent SHDSL links in Cisco 2811 which has one Cisco HWIC-2SHDSL module, so I can route one type of traffic through one connection and another type of traffic through another. Both SHDLS links have static IP addresses and probably different VPI/VCI values. how to install two SHDSL links into one HWIC-2SHDSL module, set one value for VPI/VCI on one link and another value for VPI/VCI on another link, also set one IP address on one link and another IP adddress on another link?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-C3750G-48PS IOS Upgrade

Sep 11, 2012

I am in the process of upgrading our stack of 4 switches consist of WS-C3750G-48PS. Upon reading release notes found that there are two versions of release notes 1 day apart, the one 02 Sep 2012 saying that WS-C3750-48PS is not supported in this version. Then in release next day 03 Sep 2012 that note has been removed. Which one is correct. Is it supported with my model of switch or not. Also unable to update boot path in the stack switches, "switch all" is not supported in the current IOS. Any other way to update it. Master switch has new boot path but unable to change in slaves.

I have downloaded c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.150-1.SE2.bin and I want to upgrade iOS to this image.

I have a few questions related to this:

1. Is my switch model compatible with this iOS version?

2. Do you recommend the upgrade? Does it bring some notable features?

3. Can I upgrade for free or do I need to buy some license?

4. I also want to upgrade/add the crypto image, can I add crypto for free or some license is required?

5. I have remote access to my switch via the console cable which plugged into machine1. But machine1 is connected to network via the same switch. I am accessing machine1 via SSH, and then the switch via console cable (minicom on CentOS). Is there an upgrade procedure for this kind of situation that also has some fall back (like reboot in X minutes and load the previous image) if the upgrade goes wrong?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Default Routes In Nexus 5k

Apr 29, 2013

I have a pair of N5K's, down stream from them are from Fabric Interconnects and a UCS chassis.  Upstream is a stack of 3750's then ASA5510's.

I am trying to backup the config to our TFTP server and I am getting 'no route to host'.. I tried to add a route, and found that N5K uses VRF's for routing?? .. After some looking I see there are two base VRF's 'management' and 'default'.. the management VRF has a default gateway entry and a single interface member (mgmt0).. when I look at the default VRF .. there are no interface members or routing entries.. Ok, I can handle that just add some interfaces and add a default gateway.  Then I get lost:

I'm able to access the UCS manager..... so how the heck is that even possible if there's no gateway defined anywhere (or maybe I'm missing something?).  My theory was: add all other ports but mgmt0 to the default VRF, and have the default gateway point out of the uplinks (a vPC).. but wasn't sure how that would affect anything and mainly just wanted to know how I was able to access the UCS manager in light of the fact that there is no default gateway anywhere that I could see...

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Track IP Routes On 6509?

Jul 2, 2012

We have a need to track specifc subnets on our two 6509s, running IOS version 12.2(18)SXF16. Basically, we want to do this:

track 1 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.252 reachability
track 2 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.252 reachability

However, the 6509 IOS only provides the option to track an interface. Is this a feature that's available in later IOS versions?

Is there another way to track these routes? The subnets are used for WAN links at a HQ and DR site and we are doing a specific PBR (sending all http/https traffic) using these subnets. If that WAN link goes down, we want to be able to utilize a backup WAN link to support that traffic.
