Cisco :: Latitude E6410 - USB To Serial Adapter / Break Sequence

Jan 17, 2012

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop that does not have a Serial port or a Break key on the keyboard. I have a Prolific PL2303 USB-to-Serial adapter which is installed and I can access the CLI ok with this setup via HyperTerminal.

My problem is that I am unable to break into ROMMON using the break sequence Ctrl + Break (as there is no break key). I have also tried TeraTerm with the break sequence of Alt + B.

Additionally, I have tried setting the baud rate to 2600 and pressing the space bar for 10 seconds to no avail.

when I may need to break into ROMMON.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3845 Can't Break Into IOS

I have a 3845-Mb that has a username and password already on it. This needs to be wiped as its a sold unit. However i cannot break into teh IOS in Hyperterminal using Ctrl-Break either as it boots or after teh IOS image has loaded (after it shows Decompressed image {ok} etc). I have tried several break key combinations such as ctrl+F6+break and they dont work either. On  boot the unit does show Password recovery Functionality is disabled. IOS image is 12.4(13r)T.

Cisco WAN :: 3750G QoS And Voice Call Break Ups

Mar 6, 2011

We have installed a SRST in one of our remote offices. They have ISDN Primary, and we have a 6mb MPLS link to our main HQ with 400k of QoS on the line. During the day, both Internal calls over the MPLS and external calls over the ISDN break up, but it doesnt happen all the time, i.e in a day the morning will be ok, then the users experience the break ups in the afternoon, then its everything is ok again.

The only factor that the calls share is the Lan infrastructure i.e the 3750G switches (7) of them which are stacked. We did have MAC flapping errors, and our telecoms provider suggested that it maybe these causing the issues, however we have got rid of all MAC flap errors, and are still receiving voice break ups.

Because the Lan switches are the only "item" both calls share, I am wondering now if the setup of the switches is correct. [code]

Cisco WAN :: 2960S Post Failures If Break Into ROM?

May 8, 2011

I have over 20 units doing the same thing and it seems to be a software isssue but i dont see any bugs or posts on it.  This is only on 2960S switches and not 2960 or 2960G units.

If i use the password reset feature to break the units into rom and then type "boot" instead of power cycling the unit, they will fail MBIST post tests.  If the unit is power cycled or left to boot normally on its own, there is no issues and all post tests pass.  I know MBIST is Memory Built In Self Test and was thinking maybe breaking the unit into rom disrupts those memory tests for some reason.  I tried the following software and got the same results with all of the images:

122-55.SE2
122-55.SE
122-53.SE2
122-53.SE1

Logs attached are from the same switch, one with password reset procedure used and while left to boot on its own.

Cisco :: RTP Packets Out Of Sequence

Feb 3, 2013

I've no experience in VoIP and been ditched with looking at an IP trunking problem on our network. The users where getting dead lines or silent calls, but it seems after re-seating IP trunking card here and there around the network a few times, all is settled to normal. Unfortunately it's a third party that look after the majority of the telephony, and as they can't figure out why this happens they often say it must be a problem with the data WAN it traverses. So I started trying to figure something out, I have IPSLA monitoring setup in Solarwinds on most of the routers and all looks well from that aspect; MOS is 4.34 and Jitter is only 1ms at worst. I've taken a wireshark packet capture of the IP trunk by mirroring the port on the switch at a main site where I've been told a lot of calls are routed through. Inside wireshark I used the 'telephony> voip calls' tool and decoded all the calls. The output is showing most calls have 'Out of Seq' and 'Wrong Timestamp' at around 25-50%. Although these calls seem fine otherwise, and I took this capture whilst the fault was not occurring. I know I need to capture next time when the fault is occurring, but this is what I have for now.How can i fix this or even start to troubleshoot further?

p.s- each site has two routers running GLBP to the WAN, over two ISP locations. I read something about having consistent routing to avoid packets arriving out of sequence, but haven't found anything yet to say this is how I can/should do that.

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.1 Access Rule Selection Sequence

Apr 14, 2011

I just installed a new ACS 5.1 to authenticate wireless PEAP users, so I created an Access policy "WirelessUsers" with identity store being Windows Active directory and all domain users are selected, and create a service rule that dictates that if the authentication protocol is radius, network device belongs to WLC device group, the result service will be "WirelessUsers", so this part worked perfectely, all domain users are able to gain wireless access via their DOMAIN/usernames and domain passwords. Now I want ACS local indentity store users (those local usernames can be the same or different from their AD usernames) to be able to manage those controllers, so I created another access policy "DeviceAdminUsers" with identity store being local users, another service rule which says that if the authentication protocol is radius, network device belongs to WLC device group, the result service will be "DeviceAdminUsers". The problem is that with the setup, whenenve when I try to SSH to WLC, ACS always put me in "WirelessUsers" access policy, even the login name does not have DOMAIN pre-pended or the login name simly does not exist in AD.  if I put the second rule in front of first rule, I am able to authenticate with ACS local username/password and gain access to WLC, but wireless users will fail to authenticate, because ACS is trying to put regular wiress users in "DeviceAdminUsers" access policy. I would expect if username does not exist in AD, ACS should proceed with next rule. Similar requirement was easily achieved in ACS 3.3.

After verifying it with the ISP and middle network we noticed that if i ping from my machine (ie usernetwork) to the WAN Router interface (facing the ASA) , i get time outs..  which is strange cause this is directly connected to it via ethernet cable.

Cisco :: Python Script To Change Passwords?

Feb 28, 2012

Found a script on the wiki http:/[url]....I have run it with four commands:

conf t
username admin privilege 15 secret password1
exit
wr mem
exit

However the output file shows me that I have an error:

Command Issued: conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
Command Issued: username admin privilege 15 secret password1
Line has invalid autocommand "username admin privilege 15 secret password1"
Command Issued: exit
Command Issued: wr mem
Building configuration...
[OK]

I found some sites that talked about "A" script not knowing that it is a new line and tries to send additional chare to the terminal. Obviously not specific to this script.Do I need to escape the end of line with a ' or ' for it to know that it is a new command? I have about 50 Routers and 100 Switches I need to change a password on.

Protect Information (passwords) While Using A Proxy / VPN?

At the school I live in various sites are blocked so I need to use a proxy to access them. Is there any way that someone could steal my password or something while I use one? Also, let's say that I use a proxy in one web browser (let's say Opera) to view a blocked site, but then use a different browser (Firefox) with my normal IP, would I be able to use Firefox with no worries if I need to check something like my bank account? Basically, can you restrict them to one program so you can use personal information on one and normal browsing on the other?

D-Link DCS-930L :: Mjpg Video Stream Or Sequence Of Jpg Images

Sep 14, 2011

When accessing the camera on mydlink, or on a browser using http://x.x.x.x/mjpg.cgi, I would expect the net bit rate to be substantially less than for a sequence of jpg's, since true motion-jpg uses a lossy form of intraframe compression typically yielding a 20:1 data reduction (according to wikipedia). Indeed, I can readily see this reduction in mjpg clips made on my Canon S5is camera. It's not clear whether that is happening with the d-link DCS-930L camera (640x480, quality "high", java).
