Cisco Switching/Routing :: Supervisor 7-E / 7L-E Port Numbering

Jan 30, 2013

How the port numbering would be on Sup 7-E and Sup 7L-E? I mean, on Sup-6E and Sup-6LE, if I used a twin-gig converter, I used ports gi3/3,gi3/4,gi3/5 and Gi3/6 [If the sup is in 3rd Slot]. I know there are now 4 ports on the Sup 7 which can either be used as Gig ports or TenGig ports. So, how will the port numbering change ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: WS-X4640-CSFP-E Port Numbering?

Aug 15, 2012

Concerning the WS-X4640-CSFP-E module, I was surprised to realize when I got it that the ports are numbered 1-80 rather than 1-40. Then I saw it is actually an 80 port blade when you use half-SFP's. But we have full SFP's, so how does it do the numbering? If I use all full-SFP modules, do the even-numbered ports just go unconfigured?

Windows 7 Unable To Ping Windows XP?

May 20, 2011

My Win7 laptop was unable to ping another WinXP within the same network. When I first got this Win7 laptop, I experienced this problem. The WinXP laptop has no problem pinging the Win7 system. A visiting friend changed the setting on the Win7 laptop and suddenly the two laptops were able to talk to each other. I wiped the WinXP laptop a few weeks ago. Since then, the Win7 laptop is again unable to ping the WinXP. I have googled for many hours now. I tried just about all the methods that make sense to me but still cannot ping from Win7 to WinXP. How I can reestablish communication between these 2 systems on the same network?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Interface Numbering Plan On CAT4500E With SUP7-E Or SUP7L-E

Feb 1, 2013

We are planning for the first installation of 4500 switches containing these supervisor modules.  I'm trying to determine the interface numbering convention for ports on the supervisors.  Our existing 4500E all have SUP6 modules with twin-gig converters - so I am familiar with the numbering conventions used on those supervisors.  How does this change with the software based selection command "hw-module uplink select" used in SUP7?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 QoS Output Dscp-map Queue Numbering Mis-match?

Feb 16, 2012

When configuring QoS on 3750s/3560s, we're mapping packets to particular interface output queues with commands such as: [code] The command to see what's actually being enqueued, dropped, etc. is: [code]

Note that these queues are numbered 0 - 3, and not 1 - 4.  We've been assuming that the first queue number in the "mls qos" (i.e., 1) command maps to the first queue (i.e., 0) in the "show mls qos" command.

Cisco :: RTP Packets Out Of Sequence

Feb 3, 2013

I've no experience in VoIP and been ditched with looking at an IP trunking problem on our network.The users where getting dead lines or silent calls, but it seems after re-seating IP trunking card here and there around the network a few times, all is settled to normal. Unfortunately it's a third party that look after the majority of the telephony, and as they can't figure out why this happens they often say it must be a problem with the data WAN it traverses.So I started trying to figure something out, I have IPSLA monitoring setup in Solarwinds on most of the routers and all looks well from that aspect; MOS is 4.34 and Jitter is only 1ms at worst. I've taken a wireshark packet capture of the IP trunk by mirroring the port on the switch at a main site where I've been told a lot of calls are routed through. Inside wireshark I used the 'telephony> voip calls' tool and decoded all the calls. The output is showing most calls have 'Out of Seq' and 'Wrong Timestamp' at around 25-50%. Although these calls seem fine otherwise, and I took this capture whilst the fault was not occurring. I know I need to capture next time when the fault is occurring, but this is what I have for now.How can i fix this or even start to troubleshoot further?

p.s- each site has two routers running GLBP to the WAN, over two ISP locations. I read something about having consistent routing to avoid packets arriving out of sequence, but haven't found anything yet to say this is how I can/should do that.

Windows XP Can't Ping All IPs In LAN

Jan 12, 2011

This started out as a printer issue and then evolved into a networking issue.let's see if i can include all the details here. the laptop in question is having problems talking to other internal network computers/printers. i am on a 192.168.10.? network, the laptop has a dhcp assigned address, my domain controller/dns/dhcp server has an address of .3, i have a fileserver at .9, my default gateway is .1 the laptop can ping all 3 of those computers.i have a printer with .130 address, the laptop times out when pinging it. there are around 15 or 20 other computers on the network with dhcp assigned addresses.so far i cannot get the laptop to ping any of those.

The same thing happens whether i am connect using the Local Area connection or wireless, so 2 different NICs, same laptop though.the laptop can ping any outside address, the firewall is turned off, the other computers that i cannot ping can ping each other and the printer. here's the real kicker, i noticed while running ping 192.168.10.130 -t when i do a repair on the network connection, the darn thing will ping the 130 address 3 times then start timing out again? is going on? i have killed every weird ass service i can think of, i have booted up in safemode with networking with the same result. i have signed in as a different user, i have looked at the routing, the host file, nothing looks weird to me at all. i have also run the winsock fix for xp......

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: ACS 5.1 Access Rule Selection Sequence

Apr 14, 2011

I just installed a new ACS 5.1 to authenticate wireless PEAP users, so I created an Access policy "WirelessUsers" with identity store being Windows Active directory and all domain users are selected, and create a service rule that dictates that if the authentication protocol is radius, network device belongs to WLC device group, the result service will be "WirelessUsers", so this part worked perfectely, all domain users are able to gain wireless access via their DOMAIN/usernames and domain passwords. Now I want ACS local indentity store users (those local usernames can be the same or different from their AD usernames) to be able to manage those controllers, so I created another access policy "DeviceAdminUsers" with identity store being local users, another service rule which says that if the authentication protocol is radius, network device belongs to WLC device group, the result service will be "DeviceAdminUsers". The problem is that with the setup, whenenve when I try to SSH to WLC, ACS always put me in "WirelessUsers" access policy, even the login name does not have DOMAIN pre-pended or the login name simly does not exist in AD.  if I put the second rule in front of first rule, I am able to authenticate with ACS local username/password and gain access to WLC, but wireless users will fail to authenticate, because ACS is trying to put regular wiress users in "DeviceAdminUsers" access policy. I would expect if username does not exist in AD, ACS should proceed with next rule. Similar requirement was easily achieved in ACS 3.3.

D-Link DCS-930L :: Mjpg Video Stream Or Sequence Of Jpg Images

Sep 14, 2011

When accessing the camera on mydlink, or on a browser using http://x.x.x.x/mjpg.cgi, I would expect the net bit rate to be substantially less than for a sequence of jpg's, since true motion-jpg uses a lossy form of intraframe compression typically yielding a 20:1 data reduction (according to wikipedia). Indeed, I can readily see this reduction in mjpg clips made on my Canon S5is camera. It's not clear whether that is happening with the d-link DCS-930L camera (640x480, quality "high", java).
