Feb 28, 2011This is what I have as a setup:BT Home Hub wifi routerPC with Windows 7 Home premium connected via ethernetMacbook Pro with OSX10.6 connected via wifiIt feels like i've tried everything to get this working. As far as I can see the settings are all ok but I've noticed that I can't ping the PC from the mac although I can ping with success the other way around tried traceroute from the macbook and it gives me this so it is able to see it somehow...Code:traceroute to 192.168.1.66 (192.168.1.66), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 alistair-pc.home (192.168.1.66) 1.724 ms * 1.151 msNot sure where to go from here. I think discovering that ping is failing is a good start to diagnose.

May 20, 2011My Win7 laptop was unable to ping another WinXP within the same network. When I first got this Win7 laptop, I experienced this problem. The WinXP laptop has no problem pinging the Win7 system. A visiting friend changed the setting on the Win7 laptop and suddenly the two laptops were able to talk to each other. I wiped the WinXP laptop a few weeks ago. Since then, the Win7 laptop is again unable to ping the WinXP. I have googled for many hours now. I tried just about all the methods that make sense to me but still cannot ping from Win7 to WinXP. How I can reestablish communication between these 2 systems on the same network?

Nov 26, 2011I have an RV042 using Quick VPN to connect to a remote network. I have port 1723 forwarded to a static IP address on a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit PC. I can establish the VPN and ping a printer but not the Win 7 PC. I can not acccess any shares on the pc via the IP address. It has Norton Antivirus and Windows Firewall. This remote PC replaced a Windows xp PC that allowed access to the shares. I have tried access with a Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Home Premium PC. Neither have worked.

Mar 9, 2013*I have 2 cisco routers 2811 router A&B*using 0/0 for WAN and 0/1 for LAN on both routers*both routers are connected together with crossover cable to 0/0. recieve link and activity*both routers are on the same subnet Router A:0/0 192.168.1.1/24 - router A:0/1 192.168.2.1/24 ; Router B:0/0 *192.16.1.2/24 router B:0/1 192.168.3.1/24*I can ping the inside and outside address of both router from PCs connected at its respectable end. *PC A 192.168.2.2/24 PC B 192.168.3.2/24 *when connected to router A 0/1 and I try to ping router B 0/0 it times out in DOS* but I AM (CAN) able to ping from PC A to router B 0/0 in hyperterminal, telnet and Cisco SDM. I just CANNOT ping in DOS?

I did enable the ping options to allow request from WAN...still don't work!!I removed the router and plug my laptop directly on my cable modem adapter and I'm able to ping my IP address (did put the same address the router had)...so, the IP is OK and it is possible to get in the modem from outside.I did plug back the router, and still not working...I did some trick like enable all IP with the Inbound filter...give access to few MAC address that I have to give more chances to get in and still not working!!!

Mar 25, 2011I have created a site to site Ipsec vpn with a cisco 2610 and a linksys RV042. Running a show "crypto isakmp sa" command I get a qm_idle status and when running a "show crypto ipsec sa" I see that packets are being decrypted and encrypted. Also when running the "show ip access-lists" command I do have matches to that connection.The problem is that I am unable to ping hosts from one network to another. For example, from the Cisco router in network 192.168.0.0 I am unable to ping the remote network 192.168.2.0 and vice versa.
I am not sure what is happening. Do I need to create a route to that remote network? I guess it could also be a problem with NAT or an ACL.Here is what running-config shows:

Oct 26, 2012I am connecting a 2600 router to an ISP. Interface 0/0 is connected to the ISP using DHCP. Interface 0/1 is connected to the inside providing DHCP services to the inside. At least it should only be providing DHCP services to the inside. I also have a public static IP that is NAT to a private static IP. Everything is working except the computer on the static IP. From the router I am able to ping inside and out from each interface. I am able to ping both interfaces of the router from the computer on the static IP but I cannot ping outside the router. If I do a debug all I see a reject for the gateway of the static IP but it has “mobile IP” in the text string. Not sure what mobile IP is relating to. Networks are as follows:
0/0 DHCP 10.X.X.X
0/1 192x.x.x
Static 75.X.X.X

Jan 23, 2011I have a home network of 3 cmputers. DHCP from router. 1 computer is not getting address. But if I assign it one, with same gateway and dns(not a duplicate ip of others), it can ping internally, and outside. I can do tracert to 8.8.8.8 and ping it (google DNS). But I can't get to internet. So - i can get out, but nothing coming in. I have checked firewall.

Aug 18, 2011I've been called upon to fix the SSL VPN issues in our ASA5505. The issue I am having is that I am able to log into the vpn, access the internet, but I'm unable to access anything on the LAN. I can't use ping or use DNS.
I'm using ASDM v. 6.2(1) and ASA verison 8.2(1). I'm not comfortable using the CLI and prefer the GUI.
Windows XP Can't Ping All IPs In LAN
Jan 12, 2011This started out as a printer issue and then evolved into a networking issue.let's see if i can include all the details here. the laptop in question is having problems talking to other internal network computers/printers. i am on a 192.168.10.? network, the laptop has a dhcp assigned address, my domain controller/dns/dhcp server has an address of .3, i have a fileserver at .9, my default gateway is .1 the laptop can ping all 3 of those computers.i have a printer with .130 address, the laptop times out when pinging it. there are around 15 or 20 other computers on the network with dhcp assigned addresses.so far i cannot get the laptop to ping any of those.
The same thing happens whether i am connect using the Local Area connection or wireless, so 2 different NICs, same laptop though.the laptop can ping any outside address, the firewall is turned off, the other computers that i cannot ping can ping each other and the printer. here's the real kicker, i noticed while running ping 192.168.10.130 -t when i do a repair on the network connection, the darn thing will ping the 130 address 3 times then start timing out again? is going on? i have killed every weird ass service i can think of, i have booted up in safemode with networking with the same result. i have signed in as a different user, i have looked at the routing, the host file, nothing looks weird to me at all. i have also run the winsock fix for xp......

The PC has a static IP and if I access it from another PC on my network I get the WAMP page load as expected.I've also setup an account with no-ip.com to resolve my (dynamic) ip. If I use the address they have setup while I'm on my network I get the login page for the router, again this is what I expect.The problem begins when I try and access my home address (whatever.no-ip.biz) from outside my network. I've tried it from 2 different locations and via a dial-up account and I get nothing.

I can see port 3389 listening on both using netstat -a. But 7 just can't RDC connect to 8. 7 cannot ping 8 either. I have the firewall turned off on 8, I had tried allowing RDC 3389 earlier with the firewall but that didn't work either.I don't have any extra firewalls running.Life will be like perfect, if I can just RDC to 8.Both are on the same wired belkin wireless router, 4' from itl.I tried taking the no ping no rdc computer to work and it didn't work there either.

Mar 14, 2013Both my DIR-655 and DIR-815, when setup as wireless access points, are unable to ping external IP addresses and thus cannot contact the dlink ntp servers. I've disabled UPnP, disabled DHCP, changed the LAN IP address to an available address on the network. The wireless works, devices are getting an IP from the network DHCP server and can surf the internet. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses. But the DLink router itself cannot ping any external IP addresses.

The problem that I am having is that I am unable to ping the switch that is directly connected to it and I am unable to ping from the switch to the router. If I take the address off of vlan 1 and move it to gi0/0.1 the pings work, but then client traffic on the wireless ap inside the 1941w fails.

Cisco VPN :: 5520 - Unable To Ping To NAT Address Over VPN
Dec 14, 2011 i have a site to site vpn stablished, the vpn works fine (while is up), i have a cisco asa 5520 and the other end of the vpn is a jupiter device that for technical reasons needs to send a continuos ping and when it does not receive a reponse back it brings down the vpn tunnel and reestablish it again. while the vpn is up traffic flows perfectly but because i m unable to repond to the ping the vpn is brought down as reestablished by the jupiter device. the jupiter device pings the encryption domain which is an ip that is natted to the real ip in the inside network. this is my configuration of the vpn:
AAA.AAA.AAA.AAA is the ASA public ip in the outside
BBB.BBB.BBB.BBB is the jupiter device ip (part of the object group IP_LIST)
CCC.CCC.CCC.CCC is the nat ip on the ASA
10.21.0.164 is the real address in the inside(code)

Nov 25, 2011I have 3 2620xm routers connected via dte/dce serial connections In a lab.One of the routers Is also connected to a 2950 switch.
The 2950 switch connects to an unmanaged tp-link switch that Is connected to a dsl modem/router.I have Internet access via the 2950 to my laptop.
I have ripv2 enabled on all the routers and It's working fine.The dsl modem, switch and connected router are on the same subnet.
When I ping the dsl modem via the 2950 or via the router connected to the 2950 , It works 100%.If I ping the 2950 from either of the other two routers , It also works 100%.I can't ping the dsl modem however from the other two routers.I've only been studying for the ICND1 so maybe there's something I'm missing here.
Windows XP Cannot Ping Address 169.254.10.10
Aug 28, 2012I bought a usb printer server to connect my usb printer to my router. USB cable to the print server and cat 5 from the print server to the router. The print server has a static fixed ip of 169.254.10.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 I can ping the printer server and it works perfect from my windows 7 laptop. When I attempt to set it up on my windows xp (SP3) laptop I am not even able to ping the 169.254.10.10 address. On the windows 7 laptop i can navigate to the print servers menu by placing 169.254.10.10 in the address bar of internet explorer. No so with the xp laptop.What is different about the ip configuration between win xp and win7. how to get the xp laptop to "see" the print server. Want to keep the print server at the default settings if possible.
