Cisco WAN :: 3845 - Do Not Have Access To Foundry Switch?
Mar 30, 2011
I have the following topology::
[code]...
I can ping to both devices using Virtual ip address. The work around to solve the lines "Active router is unknown and Standby router is unknown " is to delete the hsrp configuration in Standby device, after that the problem is solved but is happens again after some days. The problem is that i don't have access to Foundry switch but i think that HSRP configuration don't have any problem, even in Log Buffer i didn't saw any problem related with HSRP.
I'm fairly new to networking but I've learned quite a bit on my own without being educated. I'm trying to just figure things out on my gear. So for my LAN party i'm going to need an internet connection. I'm not going to rely on my venues subnet though so i want to create a new /24 subnet(250 hosts is good for a start). I want my subnet to be able to speak to the outside network too.
I would like to know if any additional power would be needed for a 3845 (currently with one (1) NME-XD-48ES-2S-P) to which another 24-port switch module is added. Thus, I would have two (2) switch modules on the 3845 for a total of 72 ports.
I have been unable to find specific power requirements detailing the requirements with 1 ethernet module, 2, etc.
Is there any physical or technical diferrences between PWR-3845 AC/2 and PWR-3845 AC? We are trying to order replacement parts and wondering if PWR-3845 AC is for one power supply and AC/2 means you get two with one order?

I have VPN Router (3845) in Head Office and VPN Router (1921) at Branch Office. I have also internet router (1921) which passes through ASA 5520 to internal Network at Head Office. I can give internet connectivity to Head Office Users by giving access in ASA 5520 with following lines: nat (inside) 1 192.168.2.13 255.255.255.255.
I have added line for internet access for Branch Users in following manner in ASA 5520: nat (inside) 1 173.16.33.4 255.255.255.255. My Head Office user can access internet but my branch office user cant access internet. how can i give internet access to my branch office users?
I have a 3845 router (12.4(13r)T10) with ZBF. On my LAN there is a user who need to access a remote IPSEC VPN server. He is able to get the tunnel but afterwards he cannot connect to any service in the remote LAN. As I'm using zbf I think that I should inspect traffic from my LAN zone to EXT zone, There is a document that describe a solution to this? What IP adressess should I use?

i have Cisco L3 switch configured with diff vlan and assign diff subnet for all vlan . if i connect pc to vlan 2 i am able to ping host related to other vlan
I have a 2960S Catalyst switch in my LAN, with the firewall and the servers in the same VLAN (vlan 3).All the servers and the firewall are in the vlan 3 are in the "192.168.19.0/24" subnet, the firewall has the IP "192.168.19.1".I can land on the firewall with a VPN (192.168.130.0/24) which has a complete view on the subnet 19/24.I can access, manage and get SNMP information of the Catalyst from the servers but I can't do the same from the VPN.Is there some feature I need to enable on the switch in order to allow 192.168.130.0/24 to access it?
I have cisco 3845 on my network now its working fine. Now one of my client is asking to they want to connect their network through my router ethernet interface.
now my doubt is 3845 router will support two different gateways.
how can i route their network they have bring new router.
I have 2 x Cisco 3845 each one with a DS3 circuit, both running c3845-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T3. In each of them I have one pvc provided by my carrier and I received the following info to configure:
We have 3845 Router which is using for only Internet connectivity with one ISP(X) Customer has only one Vlan, Public AS number, and Public IP pool.Scenario:User--> L2Access-SW--> L3 (6500) SW--> Firewall (5520) --> IPS--> 3845Router.Now we have another ASR Router, which also has Internet connectivity from another ISP(Y).Now the issue is we would like to use both ISP in active/active scenario.
I have two routers 3845 and HSRP is configured properly. Currently we are using default route to ISP and right now I want to use BGP as I have 3 Public pools and that's why I want to advertise in the public network. How I can configure that in my Router.
I am replacing our core router, which is a very old 7204VXR, with a T3 card in it. We are using it to terminate about 10 point to point T1's. It is also the central gateway for our entire network.
I am planning on replacing it with a 3845, and an NM-1T3/E3 card for my DS3. I think I've got that part worked out.
My real question is concerning future upgrades. We are trying to convert many of these point to point connections to Metro Ethernet, and get rid of the huge DS3 cost. When that happens, I'll probably have a handful of point to point T1's left over (maybe 2-6 of them). So, what I need is a good solution to terminate those 2-6 PTP T1's in my 3845. In the past I have just been using the old WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 cards to terminate my T1's. I am looking for a solution that won't break the bank. I looked at both the HWIC-4T1/E1 and the NM-8CE1T1-PRI cards (which terminate 4 and 8 T1's), but they are like $4,500 and $8,500 respectively. That's way beyond my budget for these. I definitley don't need a card that will do PRI's (DSP's etc.). I just need it to terminate plain old point to point T1's.
So it may be that I'm just looking at the wrong cards. Or maybe the make cards that will go in the back of the 3845 that will house 2, 4 or more WIC slots, and I could just use WIC-1DSU-T1-V2 cards?
I am upgrading from an old 7204VXR to a 3845. I am running a DS3 in the 7200, channelized into 28 point to point T1's. I need to break them all out into individual Serial interfaces on the new 3845, like I have on the 7200, but I don't know the correct commands.
Am trying to connect 3 pcs connected to a Dlink 8 port switch through a Dlink WL2100 Access point connected as an AP Client to the main network. Only 1 pc is able to see the main network and am having none of the other 2pcs are able to see the main network. The 3 pcs are able to see each other.
I'm Confused from the fact that Vlan tagging is done at access port and trunk port always gets tagged packets (untill its case of native vlan). But I still believe in other fact which says tagging happen only when a frame hit the trunk port which means trunk port gets untagged frame and tagging is not possible at access port.
Would like to know where actually this tagging happens ?
and also which command we can use to encapsulate 802.1q protocol to access port ? The way we do at trunk port is #switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q Is the above command applicable for access mode also?
I'm a networking newbie, but I bought the SG 200-08 switch to do Link Aggregation with and I can't access the web interface. I'm on a mac running 10.7.3, and I've tried Firefox and Safari. I've also tried on a friends PC with Internet Explorer 8.On the mac, I can go into the terminal and can see that the switch has the correct IP address and is seen on both ethernet ports.

either accessing the web interface or with setting up the Link Aggregation on the switch some other way.
Working on my CCNA w/ live equip, I accidentley deleted the hardware IOS- yes, beginners mistake. Upon bootup, I do not get a command prompt. I tried the recovery procedure(hold mode button before power up) recommended by Cisco to no avail. My issue is I use SecureCRT & the charaters/font is ineligible. Here is an example of what I see when typing; "þæb Bûÿÿûýÿ¿¿ÿÿ". Currently, the SYST indicator is blinking & I have no access.
I have a Cisco 2811 router with C288nm-advsecuruityk9-mz.151-4-4.M.bin IOS version. The router has two LAN interface FE 0/0 and FE 0/1.The router have too, two interfaces ADSL ATM0.0.0 and ATM 0.0.1, both are connect to internet..I need the next configuration. The interface FE 0/0 is directly connect to a Switch A.The interface FE 0/1 is directly connect to a Access Point Cisco. The Access Point and the Switch is not connecting between. The subnet of Switch A and AP are different (Switch A 192.168.180.0/24 and AP 192.168.181.0/24)The devices in the switch A have dynamic IP address, the router must be a DHCP pool to assign theses IP.The device in the AP have dynamic IP address, the router must be a DHCP pool to assign theses IP.I created two DHCP pools in the router, one for the subnet 192.168.180.0 and other for 192.168.181.0, but the devices of FE 0/0 assign IP of 192.168.180.0 or 192.168.181. 0, but not only in the 192.168.180.0.
I can access the web console, and also have telnet access but only to a VT100 menu system - How do I access the full console command prompt (without using the serial console connection)?
we have a class based qos scheme (see attached file) on our 4500 series access switches and we have a access 3560-48 switch runing IOS Version 12.2(44)SE3 my question is can I use the same QOS scheme for the 3560 switch?
On firewall we have zone created for dmz and ip is 192.x.x.x and it is connected to 2950 switch(DMZ switch) with vlan 25..We have L3 switch on this we have created vlan 25 and connected cable from L3 with 2950 switch with vlan 25
As we have the servers on L3 and wanted to bring on dmz zone we have connected a cable. Now the problem is when i connect a pc on 2950 switch (directly on dmz switch) with access-list below we are not geeting any hist on it.
I am installing Cisco blank CF upgrades (double the capacity of the CF that came with the router) in Cisco 3845 routers and I cannot get the IOS to load.
Network security requires tftp be disabled, so I am limited to xmodem. Slow, but it works. I know the IOS download is good, because I can load it on the CF that came with the router.
I can install, format and read the new flash. But the download locks up and bombs about 1/3 of the way through.
Note: CF that came with the router was "C" so I used the format flash: command. The new flash reads the same as the old, except that there is no file IOS loaded.
I've never had an issue upgrading an IOS, but this is my first shot at installing on a new CF.
1841 & 3845 router. We send 30 GB data on 100 Mbps link. First time we use 3845 router for sending the data and 47 Min are required to complete the data, during this link utilization was 100%. After that we send same data through 1841 router & 46 Min are required for the same. Only difference in data transfer is CPU Utilization of 1841 router goes 30% & 5 % of 3845 router Can we use 1841 router instead of 3845 router ? .
I have 3845 router where 200 branches are connect. Ho have database server where branch are synch interval period.some of days observation cpu load average 70 % and sometimes it reaches 100 %.yesterday when I give command clear arp then instant cpu load reduce and 20 % yesterday cpu load 12-20 %. Today morning when I give command Cpu proc history then I found cpu load 60 % and at night it was 3 times reaches 100 %. so my question is after clear arp command at least 10 hours cpu utilization 20 % but after that it increase.so for any LAN broadcast it happend ? how i understand cpu high for Broadcasting or anything else.
