				 I have a 7606 Router with single Route Switch Processor 720 at the chassis works as active RP ( Route Processor ). Can I add another RP to the chassis as standby in case of failure of the first RP ?

        I am very new to high end Cisco devices.(like 7600/6500 or ASR9K).
 
Why do we log in on RP. What actions we can perform after logging-on RP (route processor) or Why they are required ? Cant we  make those by normal router mode (router#) .

        I am a little stuck trying to troubleshoot unusually high cpu on 7600 Platform.This has been going on for many hours and not been causing a problem, but this doesn't seem replicated in our network and I am concerned about the cause.I have attached some output below, and disabled netflow on interfaces to free some switching CPU. How to track the cause of this? We only have routing protocols and 5 static routes to Null 0, so I cant see how this can be a route loop, but willing to stand corrected. Routes are learned from BGP with OSPF/MPLS internally on the network. This switch also connects to access switches on RIP and EIGRP.
 
No change has been made to this device when this problem started to occur so I am suspecting something about the traffic has changed or there is a rougue user?  [code]

        I would like to ask you about ASA 5510 (Active/Standby). i have two ASA 5510 and i did configuretion failover and it is working ( Active / Standby) but my issue that when primary donw, the standby unit up to primary but the primary came back the standby unit it not switch to standby (  i mean it still up ) . if i want to primary up i type command ( failover active ) on primary unit , so i don't want use manul command i want it auto.Which command that make ASA failover when primary coma back?         last night I started upgrading our ASA5520 active/standby cluster. Because of lack of memory, I stopped the upgrade process and will continue when the memory modules have arrived... Currently I'm running 8.0(5) on both nodes (Version: Ours 8.0(5), Mate 8.0(5))Whenever I use the "write standby" command on the active ASA, the passive ASA seems to drop it links for a short while.         I was upgrading IOS on 4507 R with dual supervisor.I download the IOS on Active supervisior and did reboot.After reboot i login to switch then i got switch standby prompt.I found that after reboot active supervisior  became standby supervisior.
 
Now new IOS  is on standby supervisior.Need to confirm below..So this means that IOS  does not syn  within the  supervisiors as compared to config  right ?
 
-Which command i can use that will copy IOS from standby supe to Active supe??
 -Which command i can use that will show both active and standby supe with new IOS?
 -Is there any command that i can use to switchover from active to standby supe??

        I have router connected to 2  3550 switches  directly. 3550A  and B  switches are running HSRP. OSPF is running between Router and 2 switches.
 
From Switch B  i can ping the Router Wan interface but not the internet sites. from Switch A  i can ping any sites?

        I want my core switch auto failover to other route if the primary route is link down it will go to the secondary route

        I have a 3750 switch and I am trying to configure PBR (route-maps) in it.But when I try to apply the policy to a vlan interface the policy does not show in the interface.So I can not use PBR to choose my default gateway!Question: Does PBR work in a 3750 switch? Can PBR be configured in a vlan interface? There is any problem with the IOS that I do not know?

        My issue: I have installed a firewall within my network.  Currently all my clients default gateway defaults to GW:192.168.1.1. I would like all my internet traffic to route to the firewall ip 192.168.1.30.  My Primary switch ip is 192.168.1.10, which is a 3560G running 12.2(25)SEE2 IPBASE-M.
 
My main problem is, I do not have access to the gateway, so I am trying to route internet traffic from within my switch to the firewall.  I have already tried Route-Map, but seems this version of the OS does not support. I have already tried Policy-Map, but same as above. I have also tried IP ROUT command, but it did not work either.
 
And remember, I would like to perform the routing from the switch, because I do not have access to the default gateway which is a router to perform forward internet traffic to the firewall.

I can configure route-map commands on that.  but i can not apply that into any vlan interface.   while i try to apply the following command ( ip policy route-map PBR) on VLAN int i get an error msg saying that the command is not recognized.

        i'm already has one internet connection is connecting directly to the Core Switch 6509,Vlan 500 (1921.168.1.0) and the Switch is route any internet request with default route:
 
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.170.10.10
10.170.10.10 is --> Next hop for the DSL router internal IP, and it's working fine.
 
The Problem: We have a new internet connection with new Vlan 600 (172.16.1.0) another ISP/ with another DSL router, so i need your kindly support and suggest how to connect both of them to exit from the Core Switch 6509. is it ok if i make another default route to the Next hop to the new DSL router as:
 
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.80.10.10
10.80.10.10 is --> Next hop for the new DSL router internal IP.
 
is there any way like default route , route-map or any other features to :
route Vlan 500 (192.168.1.0) to exit from DSL 1 --> 10.170.10.10
route Vlan 600 (172.16.1.0) to exit from DSL 2 --> 10.80.10.10

        I have some specific traffic that I am attempting to pull off of VLAN 310 at the router, apply a route-map that sends this specific traffic  back down to the switch on VLAN 55 (and the private address) and once it hits the switch apply a route-map on that VLAN 55 interface directing the same traffic over to the 72.x.x.9 address which goes through a FAP box back up to the router on another interface. 
I have attached the config information, I know this isnt the best practice way to do this however right now this is how I have to do this.When runing a trace from the net traffic stops at .2 and when running a trace from my test /30 it stops at .2 as well. I am not sure what to do at this point

Core1:

requirements is to track the reachibility for the core ip address from both sides & change the routing automatically to the backup tunnel line

        We have a cisco 3750-48 port switch.We have a few SVI's configured and some static routes configured.I had created a new interface vlan and gave it an IP. I can ping the gateway.
 
Now I want to add a static route to go out that interface.when I add: ip route 10.x.x.x 255.255.255.0 10.52.10.1
 
it eccepts it (no errors) But, it does not show in the routing table nor in the config? How to add the static route to go out that vlan interface.

        We have a couple of 6500 series switches and have 3 BGP peerings to each. The 6500 series switches are loaded with WS-SUP720-3B Supervisor Engine. I believe there is a limit to the number of IPv4 routes WS-SUP720-3B supports(256,000). We also have "soft-reconfiguration inbound" configured on the BGP peerings. Thus when I do a "show ip bgp A.B.C.D" it displays three routes from 3 BGP peers and it displays an additional 3 "received-only routes" which I think is due to the "soft-reconfiguration inbound" configuration. We currently filter inbound routes from the BGP peers to be between /0 and /27
 
We are now looking to add another 2 BGP peerings. I am not too sure if the WS-SUP720-3B will be able to handle all the BGP routes. Is this limit of 256,000 IPv4 routes due to Processor memory limitation or is it software related? Would removing the "soft-reconfiguration inbound" save me some memory ?

        My client using 3845 as a core router . 200 number of branch are connected through 6 ISP.Some of days average process shows 90 % . Max time 50 %.In the morning when Branch location are off then time also high utilization.High utilization is not continue after intervals of time or periodic time its goes to high.
 
have any solution for that ?. before once 3845 is crash for that. another is ready for replacee.We test another device like core switches for observation CPU rate.

        I am running a 1712 12.4(25d) with NAT, VPN and FW/IDS.  I have a broadband ethernet connection at 20mb.  As I run some traffic through it, the processor jumps up to near 100% and throughput comes to a screeching halt.  IP CEF is turned on and makes no difference when it is turned off or on.

        I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined.If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation. 
 
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.

        I need to create a policy to provide only 4 Mbps bandwidth for mail out of 16 mbps pipe terminated on 7606 router (at Datacenter) having  WS-SUP32-GE-3B.But I can't create policy with bandwidth percent,even exact value with priority command does not work. When I am going to enter service policy output command at interface it is showing as"priority command is not supported in output direction for this interface Configuration failed!" All I want to restrict bandwidth at backbone link for mail traffic. From all remote locations  use to access mail server over the same link.
