Cisco WAN :: 2911 Have Aggregate 1.6 Gbps Towards Route Processor
Aug 11, 2011
The Cisco 2911's have aggregate 1.6 Gbps towards route processor - I am trying the same specs for Cisco 3845 router? from url...The EHWIC slot provides enhancements to the prior generation's high-speed WAN interface card (HWIC) slots while provide maximum investment protection by natively supporting HWICs, WAN interface cards (WICs), voice interface cards (VICs), and voice/WAN interface cards (VWICs).
• Four integrated EHWIC slots on the Cisco 2901, 2911, 2921, and 2951 allow for more flexible configurations.
• Each HWIC slot offers high-data-throughput capability
• Up to 1.6 Gbps aggregate toward the route processor
• Up to 2 Gbps aggregate to other module slots over the MGF

I have a layer 3 switch with a bunch of SVIs all in the 192.168.x.0/24 range. I just want to advertise a 192.168.0.0/16 summary to the BGP neighbors. I can do this either by:
1) Redistributing connected into BGP and then using the 'aggregate-address' command to advertise the summary.
2) Specifying a network statement in the BGP config for every single SVI, then using the 'aggregate-address' command.
3) Create a static route to null0 (ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 null0) and put 'network 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0' command in the BGP config. All three fulfill the same purpose of summarizing all the SVIs, but creating the static route is much cleaner in this case. It seems like the aggregate-address command is mostly intended for routers that are aggregating connections coming from other routers and all of them share a common prefix.

Why do we log in on RP. What actions we can perform after logging-on RP (route processor) or Why they are required ? Cant we make those by normal router mode (router#) .

We've recently started using some 2911's on our network running IOS 15.0(1r)M9. I noticed, much to my frustration that the OIDs with the MIB RFC1213: ip RouteTable1.3.6.1.2.1.4.21 are not supported.
Any alternative MIB for viewing routing table information via SNMP on any of these devices running a similar IOS?

I have 1841 router with Gigabit Ethernet HWIC with One SFP Slot installed in it and connected via SX Multimode cable to 2950 switch. I have 5 VLans in trunk. The question is what will be the speed rate between VLans - 1 Gbps or less?
The case:
Port 1 assigned to a VLan10 and Port 2 Assigned to a VLan20 on 2950 switch.
InterVLan routing is configured on 1841.
Computer A is connected to Port 1 and Computer B is connected to Port 2 on the switch.
What be a file transfer rate from Computer A to Computer B assuming that NICs on both computers are 1000Base-T.

Is there a switch that handle its 24/48 ports at 10 Gbps with copper?. I have checked 3750 X but just handle 2 SFP with 10 Gbps. The requirement is to use this switch as CORE and connect 12 switches (access) using its uplinks at 10 Gbps with copper ( in this case 3750 X can be used).using copper at 10 Gbps the distance is still 100 m?

Slot 1: 6 Port Fiber Line Card
Slot 2: 6 Port Fiber Line Card
Slot 3: Supervisor Engine
Slot 4: Empty
Slot 5: 48 Port Copper Line Card
Slot 6: Empty
Slot 7: Empty
We want to add extra 10 Gbps fiber links (approximately 12) using slot 6 and 7.

I am trying to find some background information regarding this error:
Cisco 6500 [SUP720-3B] %QM-4-AGG_POL_EXCEEDED QoS Hardware Resources Exceeded
Out of Aggregate policers.
What triggers this error? In this case, there are QoS policies configured at the interface level. The 'show platform hardware capacity' command shows that there are1024 policers supported. What counts as a policer? Is a policer each instance of a class using the police command? I see where there have been some suggestions to use VLAN based policies instead of interface policies and others suggesting to turn off 'qos marking statistics' but I would really like to understand the details of what causes policers to be used up and how to approach fixing this.
I am trying to understand how this works under the covers but can't seem to find any documentation anywhere defining the details.

aggregate address 16.37.30.0 255.255.224.0 summary-only

aggregate address 16.37.26.0 255.255.224.0 summary only

We have a couple of 6500 series switches and have 3 BGP peerings to each. The 6500 series switches are loaded with WS-SUP720-3B Supervisor Engine. I believe there is a limit to the number of IPv4 routes WS-SUP720-3B supports(256,000). We also have "soft-reconfiguration inbound" configured on the BGP peerings. Thus when I do a "show ip bgp A.B.C.D" it displays three routes from 3 BGP peers and it displays an additional 3 "received-only routes" which I think is due to the "soft-reconfiguration inbound" configuration. We currently filter inbound routes from the BGP peers to be between /0 and /27
We are now looking to add another 2 BGP peerings. I am not too sure if the WS-SUP720-3B will be able to handle all the BGP routes. Is this limit of 256,000 IPv4 routes due to Processor memory limitation or is it software related? Would removing the "soft-reconfiguration inbound" save me some memory ?

have any solution for that ?. before once 3845 is crash for that. another is ready for replacee. We test another device like core switches for observation CPU rate.

I am a little stuck trying to troubleshoot unusually high cpu on 7600 Platform. This has been going on for many hours and not been causing a problem, but this doesn't seem replicated in our network and I am concerned about the cause.I have attached some output below, and disabled netflow on interfaces to free some switching CPU. How to track the cause of this? We only have routing protocols and 5 static routes to Null 0, so I cant see how this can be a route loop, but willing to stand corrected. Routes are learned from BGP with OSPF/MPLS internally on the network. This switch also connects to access switches on RIP and EIGRP.
No change has been made to this device when this problem started to occur so I am suspecting something about the traffic has changed or there is a rougue user? [code]

I've enabled antispoof on all interfaces on asa 5510.If you start a traceroute to a network on the default route, everything works, since replies comes to an interface with route 0.0.0.0/0 defined. If you start a tracer route to a network that is NOT on the default route (let's assume coporate MPLS), you only get response from first carrier router, the other are discarded because of anti spoof violation.
I have ICMP inspection and icmp-error inspection enabled.
