My ISP decided to switch to VSDL2, and they are forcing a wireless router (Netgear VVG2000) on me. As I do not want wireless, I will be buying a wired VSDL2 router myself. I looked a newegg first, but nothing that I could find.URL I only need 4 ports as I have a nice 8 port Gb switch.
I guess the distance to bandwidth deterioration relationship is the explanation that this technology is not very widespread in the US. Seems to be getting traction in Europe since 2008.
I've got problem trying to connect the CISCO-887VDSL/ADSL OVER POTS ROUTER to internet. Only got the LAN part working.I'm trying to setup PPPoE with dynamic IP Followed CISCO's documentations but the commands used were not recognized by the router.

I am struggling to get my blackberry Z10 to connect to the router.
Ok ive finally got hold of something ive wanted to dabble around with for a long time now, my very own DSLAM! I have a Alcatel Lucent ISAM 7356, it has 48 ports for VDSL2 connections for POTS and xDSL lines, i know its backwards compatable with ADSL2+ aswell as VDSL2, Now heres where im struggling, i have no setup guide, no knowledge on how to configure the thing , it does have 1 lan port aswell as a 9 pin D sub console port and a fibre uplink port, i can power the unit on but i have no idea how to comunicate with the thing to configure it ( which will probley be another question when i get to that part) Just for your knowledge, ive been interested in setting one of these up to extend the reach of broadband from one house down the street where virgins network stops so i can bring high speed broadband right to the end of the street where i live.

I just bought the wireless router as stated in the subject and I cant get 2 of our PC�s to connect wirelessly for some reason. 4 other PC's are fineAll machines running windows 7, but when the authentication type on WPA2-PSK the 2 computers ask for a password which we put in but keeps saying its wrong, but infact its right.I can connect them on WPA-PSK, but then all the computers drop out after 30 seconds.
we installed two weeks ago a 867VAE-K9 as a border router for a medical practice.It's got two vlan interfaces for inter-vlan routing, only one Gi interface up in trunk mode to the core switch and the ATM for ADSL2+ connection to the local ISP. A cisco wap is on the secon vlan for the patients. There is a voip pbx on a linux machine that registers 5 trunks to an external provider (only one trunk is used right now, and it works fine).(Almost) everything works fine :-) Sometimes (it can be hours or days) the routing to the internet stops. The meds can still use the LAN accessing everything in it with no lag, and the patients can access the isolated SSID on a Cisco wap on the second vlan. They simply cannot surf the internet.
- DNS and local routing is fine
- the router is reachable through the Gi interface
- they can send and receive traffic to and from the 867 vlans' IPs
- the ATM, dialer 0 and virtual access are up, line protocol up
- the dialer has got the IP address negotiated from the ISP
- default route is negotiated through ipcp
- the controller vdsl 0 is in showtime! state
- from the outside we can ping the PPP peer, but not the IP of dialer 0
The only thing is the queue counter of ATM which shows drops and total output drops. Attenuation is fine, noise margin not so well. The point is that outside traffic to the internet is at low levels and the routing almost always stopped when no one was using the internet (i.e. out of office hours). It already happened 7 times in 16 days. The problem obviously is that voice traffic is impaired by the stuck router, and no med there is able to ssh into the router and re-activate the atm 0 with a shut/no shut.
It is not necessary to reload. A fast shut/no shut of the atm0 (no wait between the commands) will make it running again.We're activating the smarnet for this router to update dsl fw and ios image, but I thought I could post here before that.[code] As a brutal workaround till the update/fix, I was thinking about monitoring the reachability of some external systems and use snmp from the lan to shutdown/no shutdown the atm (though I don't even know if that would be possible from snmp on this router).

I m using TD-W8951ND wifi router with MTNL connection. The LAN connection with PC works just fine but i m not able to connect my iphone or ipad with the router. I have reset the router many times and also retored my iphone but still no luck. Pl tell me what are the settings needed for wifi connections.. Currently i have set the wireless mode to 802.11 b+g+n. Setting it to just 802.11 b sometimes connects with the iphone but never with ipad.
I have a 867VAE-K9. On feature navigator it is listed as supporting OSPF. However when I go into config mode and type "router ?" BGP is there, but OSPF is not. Also, under my tunnel interfaces there is no support for any OSPF commands such as "ip ospf cost" etc. I'm in the process of raising a TAC. I have tried five or six different versions of IOS code that is available for this device, in each, we never see OSPF listed but sometimes see "router odr" or "router lisp"...

This config is working fine, when dialing in via a Windows Hyperterminal Dial connection. After a while of dialing I get the login prompt of the router.Now I want to have a router placing calls instead of a Windows Server. I can't figure out how to tell a router to place calls to a POTS phone number.

I currently have an 867vae router and a 1131ag ap setup with 2 vlans and 2 ssid's. I am in the process of baby proofing the house and would like to use the cisco plsk400 homeplug system to relocate my wap. I use 2 networks to seperate and filter the kids internet traffic from my own. It also allows me to shut the kids vlan when they shouldnt be on the internet.
As far as i can tell the plsk400 homeplug doesnt support 802.1q.... so is there any way i can keep the seperate networks/SSID's and the abilty to filter and turn off one of them at will without a trunked link to the router?

I have Binatone DT 815 ADSL2 router (not wireless) with Airtel broadband connction. Recently it has started causing problem. About once in a fortnight, like � Additional log on information may be required� or �Your router is not registerd with us� or things like that. So every now and then the technician has to be called for configuring the router. After that it works for some days. Then again the problem and reconfiguring, which is quite problematic.

I have a video conferencing device and I struggled a lot with a bunch of different routers. I was giving up but then I plugged in a friend's old Linksys/Cisco Adsl gateway and all the problems disappeared (kudos to Cisco). The problem is that the gateway is not ADSL2+. I have since borrowed a Linksys/Cisco ADSL2+ router, however, there isn't a possibility to enter port speeds/duplex manually (required to prevent packet loss in video conferencing, I really want to have that option for the peace of mind). I have been looking around on the internet but I can't seem to find this ability any routers' specs. What I need is as follows:
- Has to be Cisco or Linksys router
- Has to be ADSL2+ (Annex A)
- Doesn't have to be wireless, even single port is OK
- Preferably has DMZ
- Ability to hard code lan port speed/duplex (i.e. no autosense)
- No other functions needed so hopefully a cheap option

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got a new router yesterday and I'm trying to re-portforward a server that I was hosting. I access my router page and add the ports to the port triggering page and it saves. After that, I go and check if my ports are open, but it is still saying that they are closed. The protocol is set at TCP. However, on my old 2WIRE router, I used to be able to set the application type as FTP. But theres no option to do it on this one.
Everything worked fine before on my old 2WIRE router. Also, if it makes a difference, I'm using the Windows 8 developer preview. I'm not sure if this would be the problem, but I also tried adding a port exception to the firewall but can't find the option to do so.
I would like to know if the Linksys X2000 ADSL2+ modem router will work with my IPTV service.

I want to add more users to my home network and I couldn't, at this moment I only can connect 8 devices (12 devices at least) when I try to connect the next one its impossible, but if I take off one of the connected devices then the router allows to connect the new one.How can I connect more than 8 devices to my router ? I Bought thisTD-W8968 a month back.. It was working alright till a few days back. From the past 3days i'm experiencing internet light and DSL light going off...The DSL light is not constant even for 5min...When the DSL light comes up, the internet light takes almost 5min to comeup or before internet light come up the DSL light goes off.There wasn't problem with my old UT star modem..I already checked,its running fine without disconnection..When i replace it with TD-W8968 router ,the problem continues.. I have a router supplied by my ISP which is effectively locked down, the wireless on that router give me a massive 35 Mbps (yes i know... awesome) so I wanted to get something that would allow me to stream movies wirelessly in the house. The setup I had before was Thompson DSL router downstairs (ISP router) running the DSL connection and Wireless, a TP-Link 200Mbps Power over Ethernet connecting upstairs to a Netgear ADSL Wireless router (somewhat flaky device). This router had DHCP disabled and a static IP address, I had configured wireless with the same SSID, password and channel as the ISP router and they were all happy and everything was working (most of the time except when the netgear would crash or the 35MB wifi was too slow to achieve what I wanted).
What I would like to do is this... ISP router downstairs with wifi disabled so it just handles DHCP and DSL connection, router upstairs (New TP-Link) running new WiFi, DHCP disabled (static IP address for Router) but connected to router downstairs through TP-Link Power over Ethernet.
I was hoping it was as simple as the Netgear router where disabling DHCP was enough for it to see the other router and just work but it isn't doing that

I cannot open the config page of beetel adsl2 router using 192.168.1.1I have connected my laptop to router via Lan cable. To get a connection I have to go into Control Panel, open Device Manager, click on Network adapters, which opens Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller. I uninstall the Controller, restart and I then get an Internet connection. The Realtek controller then re-installs itself. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium operating system on my desktop. I am wired through a Dynalink RTA 1320 Rev 2 ADSL2+ Modem Router (provided and checked by my ISP). I have a Netgear Wireless N Router WNR 2000 for wireless connection to my laptop which has a Vista operating system. I have no connectivity problems to the laptop. I have had the connections checked by my ISP and the Netgear router by Netgear. They have both confirmed that there is connectivity to the desk top and the laptop and that the connections are working. Both have said that there is an issue with the operating system. I have got all the latest drivers installed and I get the message "Best driver software for your device is already installed".
