May 24, 2013I have found recently that Cisco 1905 router is having a throughput of only 10 Mb. But the router is having 2 Gig ports!.My understanding is that throughput is the data packetforwarding done by a router at a time.
What is actually mean by throughput of a router. How the router can handle 1 Gb of data from interfaces at a time?

Sep 21, 2011My team has installed a 1905 series router at one of our offices. It has been connected through lease line to our servers at our head quarters. When we start internet access it slows down and subsequently it hangs. When we log into the router and start verifying its configuration it hangs after some time. We have replaced the router but the other router is also behaving in the same way. the possible areas and settings I should look into including lease line connectivity.

let me know the significance of txload and rxload.This router is used for MPLS connectivity.Link is working OK..but I'm not able to understand exactly what is the above txload and rxload signify.There is also one peculiar phenomena occuring, when my reliability goes down then rxload also goes down or might be vise versa.

Dec 28, 2011you can configure a cisco 1905 router with vpn ipsec site-to-site in an aggressive mode? If so, any link to what I do? The VPN works well, but on site A, I had to configure a crypto map associating the IP address for site B (wich is dynamic), so if the connection on site B broken, I will have to configure another crypto map.
The scenario is:
Site A - ASA 5510 configured as a VPN concentrator and firewall for enterprise.
Site B - Cisco 1905 connected to Internet through a ADSL through a dynamic IP address and starting connection to Site A, bellow is the configuration:

Sep 29, 2011I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.

We were going to upgrade from a Windows 4.x to the above Appliance (version 5.x) but there is now a reason to keep the old Windows version running therefore we cannot give the new Appliance the old ACS's licenses?!So we should have (with hindsight) bought a fresh version of the ACS 5.x rather than an upgrade.

May 5, 2013My professor have asked us to do an IOS upgrade for a Cisco 827 ADSL Router. But I´am having problems to find the appropiate IOS image. The router original IOS is c827-y6-mz.121-1.XB and it supports routing protocols like rip bgp eigrp ospf is-is, etc.
Now, we have to find a newer IOS release that supports the same amount of routing protocols. This Router has only 24 MB DRAM and 8 MB Flash. We have tried with a IP PLUS/FW/IPSEC release 12.3(26) but when I write : route ? it only shows eigrp, odr and rip.
I am searching for a newer release that fits in those 24 MB and which has the other need routing protocols like ospf,bgp, etc.

Jul 14, 2012I need to upgrade compact flash memory card for a 3800 router. Basically i want to upgrade code on this router and the current flash size (64Mb) cannot hold new image. I wanted to check if i swap the old flash (64 Mb) with a new one 256 mb, i will loose vlan.dat file since it's stored in flash. Is there a way i can copy vlan.dat to new flash which has new code before i change the boot statements and reload the router?

Jul 6, 2012I just buy a simple hub and keep my wrt54gl as my router or should I put the money toward a wireless N router (or AP) for the better range and use the wrt54gl as my hub?I currently have my wrt54gl as my one and only router.It gives me good range indoors, but I would prefer to get better range outside, if possible. Right now I get range out about 50 feet around the outside of the house but I would prefer that to double, if not more.At the same time, however, I need to move the router to the basement to better facility my network. Obviously, this will affect the wireless range.I have considered DD-WRT, but not sure it will work much from the basement.So, I have considered two options.One, I could keep my router where it is and just get a simple hub and stick it in the basement.Obviously this is the least expensive option, but it doesn't improve the current router's range, although I could try DD-WRT. The other option is I could use the money I would put toward the hub and, instead, upgrade to a wireless N router or AP and move the wrt54gl to the basement to serve as my hub.

Feb 4, 2013I've tried to upgrade IOS on C1841 router (Cisco IOS Software, 1841 Software (C1841-IPBASE-M), Version 12.4(15)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3); System image file is "flash:c1841-ipbase-mz.124-15.T7.bin". using CCP2.5 and couldn't do it as CCP was coming with errors for any IOS. I can't install the latest 15.1 or 15.2 as there is not enough space on flash, it has 192M/64M. So I tried 12.4(24)T8 such as c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin; c1841-advsecurityk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin; c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-24.T8.bin but CCP was showing loading errors.So I copied c1841-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T8.bin software to flash manually and reloaded the router, now it shows this IOS, but when I start CCP it shows these errors:
-License feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
-Static Route feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
-Switch Port feature cannot be discovered. This and associated features may not function correctly.
I'm not sure now if that new IOS installed correctly or there is a bug in CCP.I suppose that CCP shouln't show any errors regarding IOS upgrade and after that.Is there a matrix or some kind of pattern for that router IOS upgrade?Should I use a series of upgrades and I can't jump to any IOS?

but at doc it says : System image file is "disk0:c12k-os-mbi-3.6.0/mbiprp-rp.vm" i think my image has something wrong. what do you say ? actually from step 1 to 16 was going smoothly , but step 17 doesnt go ... and i jump to Flash Disk Upgrade Abort Procedure section and i rollback to old flash disk and now it is working ....
Regarding to step 17, why standby PRP is not ready , it shows no valid partner ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1841 Router IOS Upgrade
Jun 5, 2012We currently have a Cisco 1841 router with version 12.4(1c) of IOS using image c1841-ipbase-mz.124-1c.bin. Our goal is to make it so our router can fully support IPv6. The current IOS version cannot. I've seen a site that seems to indicate 12.4T does support with IP Base image but recently had Cisco tell me with the latest IOS release 15.1.4.M4 that I have to use either the "Advanced Enterprise Services" or "Advanced IP Services" image. Did Cisco just remove IPv6 from IPBase in later IOS releases?
Also I've seen conflicting specs on the max amount of Flash and DRAM the router can support. The following link shows that 384MB is the max for DRAM and 128MB max for flash. We're looking to upgrade ours from 128MB and 32MB respectively but as mentioned I've seen it where higher amounts are supported. In fact we bought a backup 1841 to have and it has a 256MB Flash card in it.URL
Last but not least. Where can I find a straightforward documention of this situation where we may have to upgrade our Flash and DRAM and then upgrading the IOS?
Wifi Extender Or Upgrade To N Router?
Dec 29, 2012At the moment the Wireless Router is located in my bedroom which is 12 meters from the living room where the phone line is. I basically have one phone line extension from the telephone line to my bedroom where I've plugged in the ADSL filter. The modem part plugs into the actual router and the telephone line is then extended back to the living room with a second extension cable.This is because my PC is in my bedroom. Problem with this is the fact that there are extension cables get in the way when moving furniture around and also hang from the ceiling in the corridor.What I'd like to do is have a WiFi dongle for my PC and move the router to the living room. Now my second problem is that my phone gets a very weak WiFi signal once you go to the living room so I imagine if I moved the router to there then I would barely get a signal in my bedroom. I have two options to solve this:
(1) Use a WiFi extender in between my room and the router and then a dongle for my computer
(2) Upgrade my current G router to an N router. Problem is I'm not too sure the signal will reach my room. There's a 12 meter range from the living room to my bedroom btw.url...
