Cisco Wireless :: Cannot Access Ap541 After Upgrade
Nov 6, 2012
I have 3 ap541n's in a cluster. I have upgraded 2 of them to 2.04 firmware. The third did not take the upgrade well and hung during the process. I have tried factory reset it but to no avail.
The AP's are on a simple network - they get their IP's via DHCP.
I have several AP541 (on different site locations) which I have currently configured for WPA enterprise using windows 2008 as the Radius server. This works fine for staff members who use the wireless when roaming around the offices.
I would also like to setup another VAP for guests to allow them to access our internet but nothing else on the network. I was wondering what approach would be the best one to adopt to achieve this. Would I be best to setup a WPA Personal VAP and allow guests to access the wireless this way. Or is there a better approach? If we did adopt this approach I presume this would mean that we have to log onto each AP in turn and then change the WPA key on each one everytime we decide to change the key? Or is there some clever software I could use to change them all in one go.
I just got 3 AP541, the reason for getting this was the dual band , but how to get this AP to actually give both 2.4 and 5 GHZ at the same time?
I have in my other office a Asus RT56, it costs about 1/3 of the Cisco and this supports both 5 and 2.4 GHZ and i get a 450 mbit connection, can only get 130 on the Cisco.
We have a WDS connection between two AP541 access points, where one AP is connected to a SA540 with cable. The AP in the other end of the WDS does just act as a repeater, broadcasting using the same SSID and channel with WPA-PSK, as the cabled AP. For the WDS channel, we have tried WPA/WEP/none encryption without any difference. Spanning tree is enabled. 802.11 mode is 'bgn'.
Sitting physically beside the remote AP (the "other" and uncabled end of WDS) with a laptop using Intel 802.11bg adapter, we get a speed in the range 5-7Mbit/sec connecting to the cabled AP (3 of 5 bars signal strength in the traybar icon on Win7). But switching to the remote AP, which is beeing feed by the WDS from the same cabled AP previously being connected to, we do just get a measured bandwidth of 1-2Mbit/sec. I understand that some throughput is lost using WDS, but this does still look like a big decrease?Any experience using WDS with AP541, who can comment on if this is expected or not, and eventually any thing we can do to increase the speed?
Our head office has two 4402 wireless controllers 16 AIR-LAP 1142 access points in the office. we've just bought an AP541 for one of the regional offices. What I want to know is can I 8inergrate the AP541 into the wireless network with the 4402 so I can administer from a central site and so the wireless users will be active at the regional site connected to the WAN.
we plan to implement the SMB Pro AP541 for a guest access solution.is there a lobby ambassador like on the big wireless lan controller?is it possible to sign a guest a time frame - e.g. guest user has only 60 min access to the internetis it possible to enter a lifetime for the guest user - e.g. guest user can only login until 10.10.2010
Is it possible to establish the WDS-connection on 5GHz and connect Wireless-Clients on 2,4GHz with these Acces-Points?There are some threads concerning performance-issues in combination with WDS on 541 - any news on this with the actual software-release?
I have a setup involving 3 clustered AP541 running off a sg300 switch. The wireless network setup VAP has one entry for vlan 1 with station isolation disabled. Is there anything more I need to do to allow one wireless client to ping another wireless client - am I missing something - i assume this is possible.Needless to say wireless clients can ping non wireless clients and vice versa quite happily. Everything is running with factory default settings more or less.
I have a TAC case open, but it doesn't seem to be making any progress.I upgraded my 5508 controller from 7.2.111.3 up to 7.4.100.0..Most of my APs are fine. 3500s, 1100s etc.except for 602i APs. The APs associate, they update software etc, but they won't broadcast the WLAN.An interesting thing, on the 602 AP, in the log, I see this:*Mar 06 15:08:12.667: SSID remote, WLAN Profile Name: RemoteOEAP, added to the slot[0], disabled..So the AP is definately talking to the WLC and being pushed the correct WLAN profile. On the controller, the AP shows the the Admin status of the radios is showing DOWN, but the Admin status on the AP itself shows UP
I've done a factory reset on the APs to no avail. I have a 2504 WLC as well that i'm in the process of implementing in a DMZ specificially for these APs, and for testing purposes, I associated the 602 Ap to that WLC as well. This one is running 7.4.100.0 too, same results. It would appear to be a problem with this version of software?
I have AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 WLC i that current IOS is 7.0.98.218 and i upgraded with 7.0.116.0 IOS but after upgrading and reboot the WLC from 15 access point 3 access point are not coming up and 12 are coing up and working fine (4 1142 and 11 1131 series access point) 3 which are not coimg is 1131 series access point. when i login with console to 3 access point its rebooting 2 times and coming on ap: prompt.
In between that i reloaded the WLC one more time because from 15 acess point only 4 aceess point are came up and i also cleck the show boot on wlc its output is 7.0.116.0 (default) 7.0.98.218 (active) so i reload the wlc and checked out of 15 acess point now 12 acess point are up and still 3 are not. And i also checked the output of show boot command its 7.0.116.0 (default)(active) 7.0.98.218
So i things its because of when 2nd time i reload the wlc the remaining 3 access point are getting.
I have a trouble with AIR-CAP3502I-R-K9 AP.I tried to upgrade IOS software in ap because it was connecting and disconnecting to controller too often. I already upgraded one of two access point and it working stable at this time, but the second one not. [code] So, I even can't load new software. What can I do now?
I have some Cisco Aironet 1100-series, 1040 series, 1240 series, 1130 series and 1200series and i would like to upgrade them to the newest ios software.
The IOS that are present in my access points are 12.3(8)AJ and 12.3(11)JX.
I just tried to upgrade the firmware of my WAP54G to the most recent version; however, I got a message on web browser with legend "Update fail" and then I lost the communication with device. Now, I just goty Power and Link LED's, but nothing on Act (green led, indicator of WiFi),I tried to reset using button, and to connect via LAN, but setup wizard is unable to locate the device.
I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.
I upgraded my ACS 4.2 on a Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2 Server to 4.2.1.15.9. The server seems to be running, I see that it is able to authenticate and authorize my logins and commands on Cisco devices. However when I try to launch the web access from the desktop of the server either with https://<ip adress>:2002 or https://127.0.0.1:2002 I get a message that the website cannot be displayed. When I nmap the server I see that port 2002 is open.
i have hardware AirLive wha 5500cpe-nt. this device have upgrade to dd-wrt firmware. but after upgrade i can't access again. i can't find ip address because dhcp service not active, so can't get ip for my laptop...
I get the message "unidentified network - no internet access" on my computer since my upgrade to Windows 8. I'm using an Actiontec GT704-WG DSL modem/router connected to an ASUS M4A79XTD-EVO motherboard. I can get wireless access to my computer - a desktop - from the modem but not from the cabled DSL. Wireless is slower and less reliable it seems
i have been using a couple of wap54g units for years now (awesome units!) but its now time to upgrade to "N".is there a newer unit that has "N" ?is there a unit that has a PoE option? also, i really like the ability to switch to larger antennas like the wap54g unit does. i would think that all wireless access units should have removeable antennas and a PoE option!
I just recently upgraded my computer to Vista from XP. Since then my computer connects to the internet and runs applications such as Star Trek Online and Skype ok but it won't load pages in any internet browsers.
I attempted a firmware upgrade on my RV042. After an hour, the upgrade was still in progress. I now cannot login into the router using my user name and password (nor the old admin/admin). The router is functioning, but I fear it will eventually fail. How can I recover ability to log in? The Firmward Recovery program doesn't seem to be appropriate for this situation.
I have a DI-604 D-link router, is it necessay to upgrade to newer router to get faster access to internet? Upgrade Firmware? I have a PD950 processor with Win XP pro and use it for DAYTRADING streaming data and fast executions.
Is it possible to upgrade the CSACS-1121-UP-K9 to be a non upgrade part? We were going to upgrade from a Windows 4.x to the above Appliance (version 5.x) but there is now a reason to keep the old Windows version running therefore we cannot give the new Appliance the old ACS's licenses?!So we should have (with hindsight) bought a fresh version of the ACS 5.x rather than an upgrade.
we have started to do the upgrade from WCS 7.0 to PI12. In order to do that we first need to upgrade to NCS 1.1. We have ordered the following from Cisco:
R-W-PI12-M-K9WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 MigrationN/A14 daysNoN/A11.995,00 1.995,00 01.995,00 R-PI12-BASE-K9Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and SoftwareN/A14 daysYesN/A10,00 0,00 00,00 L-PI12-LF-500-
[Code]....
L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 is the Product Number to do the upgrade from WCS 7.0 to NCS 1.0, R-WCS-PI11-M-K9 is the product number to dothe upgrade from WCS 7.0 to NCS/PI 1.1.
If I try to install just the License File I get from Cisco using the XML file from our WCS 7.0 installation, I get the error "Unable to add any license without an NCS (L-NCS-1.0-K9) license.".
But how do a get this license if I ordered R-W-PI12-M-K9 (WCS 7.0 to PI1.2 Upgrade License)? What is the step to get the right License?
I'm planning to upgrade our WLC 2504 from 7.2.111.3 to 7.4.100.0 but the cisco site says "WLC Version 7.4.100.0 will need Prime Infrastructure Version 1.3 to be managed, Version 1.3 is not yet available to download at this point of time" Is it something about NCS? we have only 1 cisco WLC 2504 and 6 1142APs.. Also let me know is it possible to go directly from 7.2 to 7.4 ?
We have some new WISM2 running 7.0.116.0, but now we need to upgrade their license to suport 1000 APs. So I am looking at upgrading the software to 7.2.110.0. We are running WCS at the moment and got NCS with the new WISM2, so going to 7.3 and buying Prime Infrastructure is not an option at the moment, thus we are going for 7.2.
The thing is I can't seem to find much info about this upgrade. Is 7.0->7.2 a smooth upgrade? Do we need to do any configuration changes to the WISM2 or LAP1242? We are running H-REAP, will the change to FlexConnect be affected? I can't seem to find anything regarding requirements for 6500/SUP for running WISM2 7.2, do I need a certain software for that?
I am planning to upgrade WLC from 7.2.103.0 to 7.2.110.0 due to some bug, but I wanted to know if it is compatible with WCS - 7.0.240.0 and NAC Guest server version 2.1.0, I am made some search but I couldn't get to proper conclusion.
In order to enbale HA SSO on our two 5008 WLC's, I plan to upgrade them to 7.3 / 7.4 (currently 7.2)Right now 7.3.112.0 is the latest release. We do not have any 1600 series AP's, which requires 7.4.any reason going for 7.4 directly..or not going for it?
I want to update an AIR-LAP1522AG-N-KP. I want to use TFTP. The problem is that my laptop does not ping any of the interfaces of LWAP.For example:Laptop 192.168.1.100 / LWAP Gigabit0 192.168.1.101 - - ping fails . I have experience using AIR-LAṔ1242AG , or the process is different?
Since we have now got a go for upgrading the IOS I have a little difficaulties finding if the current IOS will upgrade correctly to the advised version without any loss.Current version is (s72033_rp-IPSERVICESK9_WAN-M), Version 12.2(18)SXF7 In the realease notes for IOS 12.2(33)SXJ I can't find any upgrade matrix or upgrade train. Will this version upgrade without causing any mishaps on current WiSM(ver.1) and switch config?I didn't get any adequate answer, but since NO ONE did mention any repercussions, we did the upgrade......and we did loose configuration !Still the WiSM (version 1) is working all right, but where did the related WiSM configuration go?.How can you do a span session if you have no interface to tie onto?
I am planing to upgrade 2 of my 5508 series WLC from 7.0.116 to version 7.2.111.3. I understand that legacy AP's are no longer supported. Is the upgrade straight-forward just like other code upgrades?
