Cisco Wireless :: Converting AIRLAP1142 To Autonomous
May 17, 2012
I have an AIR-LAP1142 that I'm trying to load the autonomous software onto. I reset the AP with the mode button held down as per instructions. When I release, it attempts to download c1140-k9w7-tar.default from my pc running tftpd62. Several connections are made and then it eventually times out. I tried another machine (also win7 x64) and it fails there too exactly the same.
TFTP logs show:
Connection received from 10.0.0.1 on port 1024 [18/05 17:22:04.269]
Read request for file <c1140-k9w7-tar.default>. Mode octet [18/05 17:22:04.270]
Using local port 51686 [18/05 17:22:04.270]
I am not having much luck getting it converted via normal ways.
It times outs on TFTP server when you hold the mode button (a 3500 is working fine doing the same thing).
I try the old school way of archive download-sw but it isn't fast enough before it re-dhcp's because it can't find a controller. "*Mar 1 01:17:51.123: %CAPWAP-3-DHCP_RENEW: Could not discover WLC using DHCP IP. Renewing DHCP IP..' Even if I set a static IP address.
Is there way to disable the join process while I upgrade the software? I guess fire up a controller for it to join. I hope I don't have to have a controller to convert these.
I was trying to upgrade the IOS image of the AP and I did a wrong manip.
I downloaded the IOS image (ap801-rcvk9w8-tar.124-10b.JA3.tar) from my TFTP server to the flash of the AP. Everything went find so far. But than I did an archive archive download-sw /overwrite ap801-rcvk9w8-tar.124-10b.JA3.tar and my AP reboot in LWAPP mode.
I should have done: archive download-sw /overwrite tftp://10.0.0.1/ ap801-rcvk9w8-tar.124-10b.JA3.tar instead!
Now I don't how to go back to autonomous mode. archive commando is not available anymore in LWAPP mode.
Is the process for converting 1260 APs to lightweight mode any different from converting 1140s or 1250s? I've converted several APs to LWAP mode but this is my first 1260. Four 1260s need to be converted.I have one in a remote location that seems to be comatose. Here are the steps I took to convert the AP. Did skip/miss a step?
1. uploaded code to the AP ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JB.tar 2. configured the AP for DHCP. It successfully leased a DHCP address. Controller information is provided via DHCP Option 43. 3. saved the configuration 4. verified the code, successful 5. disabled wireless radios 6. installed the lightweight code using the command archive download-sw /safe flash:/ap3g1-rcvk9w8-tar.152-2.JB.tar.The installation was successful 7. rebooted the AP
After that nothing. The AP has not leased another IP address. The switchport is active. The APs MAC address is registering in the switches MAC address table. The AP is receiveing PoE from the switch. I noticed that this AP is only receiving 6.2W of power where the three are getting anywhere between 8.8W and 9.3W. I am unable to ping the old static IP of the AP too.
Cisco 1240AG converting to WEP to WPA Access Point Model: Cisco 1240AG System Software Filename: c1240-k9w7-tar.123-7.JA5 System Software Version: 12.3(7)JA5 Bootloader Version: 12.3(7)JA1 Access Point Model: Cisco 1131AG Software: Cisco Aironet Desktop Utility 2.1.02
After converting encryption from WEP to WPA in a Cisco 1240AG in personal mode with an SSID name of example1 and Cisco 1131AG access point in personal mode with an ssid of example2; both with the same wpa passphrase, I created a new profile on the Cisco Aironet Desktop Utility with a new profile name as well as a WPA passphrase, but the desktop utility will only connect to the access point if one network name, example1 or example2, is entered.
is this possible, i need to convert a 1242AG Autonomous back and forth this weekend to use for a quick project for testing. i need to do: take the AP into LWAPP mode (i know how to do this with the aironet utility) take the ap from LWAPP back into a AP mode so i can use it as my access point again. I have a Brand new AP that was bought for a site which has a controller, however it was never installed. I was wondering can you downgrade this AP to make it work in stand alone mode as a normal AP?
My desktop computer doesn't have a wireless card in it. i also have a laptop which does have a wireless card. I was wondering if there is a way i can take the wireless connection and re-transmit it to the desktop through ethernet. I have a 5-port switch. I don't really know much about networking. but i am knowledgeable in computers. laptop has windows 7 on it. i really would prefer to not buy a wireless card for the desktop.

I recently bought this device in hurry . My ISP has directly connected RJ45 cable to my laptop .So i need to use this device for sharing internet to my wireless devices .IS it possible to convert Rj45 to Rj11 if so let me know the process .I have seen interenet about converting lan port to wan for TD-W8960 device . but GUI administration is quite different for my device .
I have purchased a PAK for my 2 cisco 1921 routers .I would like to to configure IP SEC or SSL for VPN connectivity on the routers. How do i convert the PAK into a license?
We have a VPN router(ASA5505) which connects to the client, B. IP address for one si 195.xx.xx.xx and for B it is 14.xx.xx.xx. Both can extablish a IPSEC VPN nicely. Now, B throws a condition that the IP coming thru the VPN has to be PUblic. They want it as such so that they can be routed across the VPN tunnel. It still can because the firewall does not do NAT.
I am having problem converting my router echolife HG532b to work as an access point. I have main router as linksys wag 120 with IP adress 192.168.1.1 and DHCP server enabled and IP range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.100 . I changed the IP adress of the echolife to IP adress withen the range of DHCP and disabled the DHCP server according to this thread Connecting Additional Routers, I changed the wireless setting to match main router with secondary router and connected Cable from main router to LAN port of echolife. When i tried to connect wireless to the network. It takes 5-15 second obtaining the IP adress then it connects but with limited connection with no internet. I have noticed that when i just plug the cable to echolife it become online in the network map for 10-30 sec then it goes offline. I tried to choose IP adress for echolife outside the range of DHCP. In network map echolife stays online but still same problem limited connecting and no internet
I am just about to start on a project where we are moving from Old Cyberguard firewalls to ASA 5520 firewalls, any rule base converstion tool that would be able to do a lot of the basic work? And so of the NAT conversions?
I have an old 2007 model Toshiba HD LCD television. It does not have a USB port, but it does have a connection for RJ45. I want to convert this to a USB port, Is there a converter/connector for this purpose?
We have a couple of autonomous 1262's that I'd like to get configured. I would like to put the Ethernet interface out on our Internet subnet and have the clients get a RFC 1918 address from the radio's. Our little Linksys is setup this way and the clients are PAT'ing off the Ethernet interface when they go to the Internet.
Is this possible with these guys or do I have to put the AP ethernet interface into the same subnet with the DHCP scope? I don't have enough Internet IP's to hand out to every wireless client.
i need to change the IOS in a Ligthwiegth Access point and make it work as an Autonomus AP 1242. I have got the image but im not realy clear about the process. I got to enter the Ligthwiegth Access point true the console port but i dont know how is the upgrading process.
how to convert a 3502 access point from Autonomous to Lightweight ? 3502 has a new IOS released back in Dec 2012 to work as staandalone mode. I need to convert this back to Lightweight mode.
I have been searching on web but have had no luck so far with anything. Tried converting it to lightweight in the same way as putting it on Autonomous IOS but errored out.
I'm trying to configure a 2602i and I know there is a way to access the web GUI to accomplish this but I'm unsure if I have to access CLI to assign the AP and IP or if it already has a default IP?If it has an default IP
i'm trying to enable WDS with authentication on a Cisco 1042 AP. The unit itself will be the WDS master and Radius server as well it will serve clients (not that many). The AP is running version 12.4(25d).After multiple tries of configurating, I keep getting the same issue: as soon as I connect to the SSID, I can enter the username and password but authentication fails - hence the message in my console:
%DOT11-7-AUTH_FAILED: Station xxxx.xxxx.xxxx Authentication failed. Every configuration I made was started from factory defaults of the AP.My current tests are with one AP only and if tests go successfully, I will add more infrastructure AP's to the setup.

I've tried the configuration from the Cisco config guide as well but without any luck [URL]
I have a 3602e access point which I need to configure. It has been loaded with an autonomous image (for survey work) and my only access currently is via a browser. Is it possible to http into this access point if its only been imaged and not configured.
