View 1 RepliesI've been having a number of issues with performance on my DIR-655 with streaming media, internet connection being dropped and random reboots. Over the last couple of weeks it has been getting worse, to the point where I'm about to act out the printer scene from Office Space but with my DIR-655! It has been rebooting, completely killing WiFi networks and Internet Connection, almost every 20 minutes when I'm watching DivX over the network. The relevent information about my network is as follows:

As an experiment I reconfigured the DSL-380T into PPPOE mode and set the DIR-655 into DHCP Client. This was over 2 hrs ago. So far - no random reboots, no jittering on the Media Center Extender playing videos, no internet drop outs..It seems to me that the DIR-655 doesn't cope well when it has to do the PPPOE network protocol as well as the routing, WiFi and other basic functionality that it should be able to cope with.I'll leave it running as it now is and report back later, but from the dramatic change in behavior I'm hoping that I've finally cracked my perf issues with the DIR-655.
I'm trying to set up a website filter on my DIR-601. I created a policy for 2 MAC addresses, with a schedule from 10AM-6PM, selected "Block some websites", and disabled logging. Under website filter, I added some entries, and selected "DENY computers access to ONLY these sites". When the policy is enabled, and I try to access one of the blocked websites, it gets blocked correctly ("The URL access was denied by administrator.") However, for all other websites, I get "server unexpectedly dropped the connection" errors, eg "Safari can�t open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." or in Chrome "No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data." This happens with ALL non-blocked websites. I'm using hardware version A1, firmware version 1.01NA.

I just upgraded my DLink DIR655 to WDR4300. My VOIP service has worked for the last 5 years. But with WDR4300, I'm frequently experiencing dropped calls. The call will be cut off every 20 seconds or so. This is really a deal-killer.
where my internet dropped alot while playing ps3.i switched from my horrible d-link router to a DIR-655 Since i bought it, i've never dropped but my connection speed is an issue when playing my ps3.I use a wired connection through my router.some periods during the day it's 2 mbps download.. that's really slow considering my computer has 20 mbps download through wired connection.some periods during the day it runs fine @ 4 mbps - 5 mbps download (this is fine for gameplay but it lags a bit)if i directly connect my modem to my ps3 - it goes 20 mbps download (amazing fast speed)I called d-link technical support and did everything from port forwarding to turning on DMZ and putting my ps3 IP in there. I have a 2 part question: is there anything i can do to boost my ps3 connection download speed as high as it would be if it was connected straight to my modem while using a wired connection to my router? if that's not possible, is there anyway i can keep a stable download speed @ 5mbps?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDespite all the drama regarding the DIR-615, I've had the B2 revision since around late 2008 or early 2009 (can't remember exactly, most likely late 2008) and it had been working flawlessly. And I do mean that. I never once had a problem with this router and highly recommended it. Back then I was on a 24/1 connection, and had been up until recently.
Now I'm on a 100/10 line, and things haven't been looking too great. The internet is stable for the most part, and I am getting full speed, but the router has been starting to drop its connection a lot. I've had to release -> renew (or simply restart the router) quite often now and it seems to be happening at complete random.
weaking with settings, updating firmware, etc but no luck. All connections in question are of course wired, not wireless.
My etherenet connection dropped out of my network sharing center and i can not get it to come back. I dont know where to look or how to reactivate it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude d810 laptop that has XP Professional and an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG driver. It has been working fine for nearly 3 years. Recently I changed it from a domain to a workgroup and now the internet connection drops after about 5 - 10 minutes.When I say "drops", I am referring to the browser can no longer display the webpage. The internet connection still shows to be "Excellent". I even tried pinging www.google.com and it can still ping the website but the browser just stops working. I have tried Firefox and IE.I updated the DNS to use the default primary DNS suffix. The only way to get the browser to re-establish a connection is by rebooting the laptop.[CODE]
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-655 drops WiFi connections every few days. All wired connections are fine. Rebooting the router fixes the problem at that time. Cable modem works perfectly fine. [code]
I'm sure I'm missing some devices, but that should give you the general mix of wired/wireless devices that I use. I'm single with visits from my son every other weekend, so network traffic is not that high at my house. I've had this router for a couple years now and didn't use to have this problem. I've been updating the firmware, and I suspect this problem happened after on one those updates. I just don't know which one. Also, I didn't use to have any neighbors with Wireless Routers (that I could detect), but recently there have been 2 who have gotten them. I was hoping this was a problem that D-Link was aware of, but that does not seem to be the case. I would hate to have to go out and buy a new router (not D-Link).
When I bypassed the router and connect my pc to the cable modem directly, my download and upload speeds are over 20mbps/10mbps. But when I connect my cable modem with the router, it reduced dramatically to under 10mbps/5mbps.So the bottleneck is with the router. How can I troubleshoot the router to remove this bottleneck?

I've opened a case via email and got the standard response, below.I have a Dlink DP-300U print server that works fine with my 'old' Belkin router, a F5D-7230-4 wireless unit. Nothing wrong with the Belkin, I'm just getting some service drops from my lousy AT&T ifitl 1.5mbps ISP and thought a new router might work. I actually read the manual (!!) before installing the DIR-655 and even followed it. The print server just isn't visible on the network. Everything else is, though. The 'suggestions' from Dlink tech support below are very useful. If I could 'see' the print server to verify its IP address, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I've rebooted everything, several times and even reinstalled my old Belkin router (which always sees the print server.) And Dlink, no...I'm not interested in paying you $32.95 for up to a half hour to maybe fix a problem caused by your new device. And dropping my call after almost 15 minutes on hold is not cool, either. With reference to the issue you are facing, we suggest you to kindly ensure that the IP address assigned to DP-300U print server is in the same network range as that of your DIR-655.
NOTE: The default IP address of DIR-655 is 192.168.0.1 Once it is done, try to ping the IP address of DP-300U using any of the wired / wireless client connected to DIR-655.note the DP-300U is not currently supported in North America. D-Link offers a premium fee based support line that will be able to support any issues you have with this product.
The computer in question is one of 30 computers in the same office that is not currently experiencing this same thing. All connected though the same switch, patch panel, etc. Testing has proven that the switch and line is fine.We have a server set up for all of the multifunction printers on property and we simply map the printers through this unit.We have an exchange server for email.File server... for... files. Okay, here is the situation. This IBM desktop will be connected to everything, able to print, email, connect to files, etc etc.Then, or so it seem, will just lose its connection. no email printing etc. She is asked to put in her network credentials again. and usually this works. (it seems that the network dropping out may take up to 3 minuets to fully restore and she tries to put in her credentials too soon).After each event she is able to restart her computer or type in her credentials and get back to work.. after mapping the printer again.
View 4 Replies View Relatedwe got a Sonicwall router and we have been having stability issues. Every 1 minute the TCP connectio is dropped as well as UDP packets. This router is connected to a T1 connection and its requesting a DHCP lease every couple minutes as well. We originally had two WAN connections, and we have disabled the second one because someone thought it was that, but obviously it has to do with the internal network. This is a dual WAN router.

Evrything works fien but sometimes after about 4-5 Hours the Connection is dropped by the ASA. The Client still prtends to be connected, but there is no connection seen on teh ASA.
I notice that I have TX Packets Dropped only under the wireless section.This occurs when the wireless network is not in use also.I have tried many different channels, almost all of them.Im using wpa2-tkip+aes, mixed g and n network, auto 20/40, wps disabled.I understand about wireless interference also.wireless devices dont seem to have any issues though, not dropping from network.I usually get 4000 wireless TX drops a day. LAN and WAN show No TX drops
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor those of you foolish enough to upgrade to your firmware to 1.35NA, only to find that all your wireless clients are intermittently dropped randomly at the same time, read on.At the time of this simultaneous drop, the logs will tell you that the clients were "disconnected due to deauthorisation" or some such (precise wording eludes me, has not occurred for a while, which is a good thing!). The clients are then quickly "authorised", but the movie you were streaming to your living room has already been interrupted and all your family members have gone for an unexpected toilet / snack break. Needless to say, the movie is ruined. Playing/hosting online games is an exercise in slowly pulling out all your remaining hair folicles. A random 20s delay when surfing the web is also fun. The list goes on.
A quick glance at the forum suggests this is a common problem, with the only reproducible solution to downgrade your firmware, perhaps all the way to 1.21.Get this though, you cannot downgrade 1.35NA by any means known to us internet-using, neanderthal-descendant primates (yes, your ancestor interbred with them). All workarounds to downgrade the firmware currently do not work for the new firmware.Why this is not suggested more often on these forums, I cannot fathom. There are a few threads that end like this though: "Oh, switched to WPS and the problem went away.Of course, if your wireless clients do not support WPS, then, um...facepalm yourself again. Only one of them has to though, the rest non-WPS clients you can copy paste the extremely long password to.Not so important settings: (changing these will do nothing to alleviate the drops)
Now that I have provided you with the meaning to life, the universe, and everything (42, I mean WPS), enjoy "normal" wireless behaviour again. OMG, I can actually surf the internet, torrent, play games, stream movies again.Some far more knowledgeable person might speculate as to the reason why this is so...actually, I will start the useless speculation. There must have been a security issue, that was remedied with the more recent 1.3xx firmwares. At the same time, constant authorisation checks were added. The deauthorisation/ authorisation cycle is snappy and unnoticeable with WPS, yet horrible without WPS.
I have two XPS 15 (L502x) laptops (purchased in March '12) with Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN adapters. On a regular basis both laptops lose their connection to the internet (via FIOS), at the same time. I'm convinced that is not FIOS or my router. I have a Dell STUDIO 8100, an iPhone and iPad, and these wireless devices do not lose their connections. Sometimes I'm able to resolve the issue by using "troubleshooting" via the adapter, often restarting the laptop and/or the router is the only way to resolve my problem. I've run the Dell Support software, it indicates no drivers are available for update, so I assume I'm current.I've read about turning off 802.11n, I've read about problems w/ power management and conflicts with wireless.

I have tried everything using different ports and server ip for newsgroup. I have DMZed my ip i have switch wan ports. QOS off. all traffic shaping off. what kills me is that sometimes through the router itll give me my usual regular amazing speed but most of the time NOT. As soon as i remove the router out of the equation i get my speeds no question asked ( yes direct connect to router not wireless).

I am not too sure what other info I need to put here.My connection used to drop frequently (around every 5 min) and I would have really slow speeds (10ish kb/s). Recently, for some unknown reason, the dropping has stopped, but now I am getting speeds of around 9-15 kb/s.
The thing that has me COMPLETELY stumped is when I plug my laptop into the router, the wireless speed on my PC speeds up to, according to speedtest.net, 5.8 Mbps. If I unplug the laptop from the router,the speed on my PC slows down to .25 Mbps, yes - POINT .25 Mbps.I have attached the tester .
I'm using two RV180 for a site to site ipsec vpn. The IPSEC VPN connection is working only if I try a manual connect. After some time connection is droped and no auto reconect for it.

When there are many recipients in the emails the email messages are not sent, and I have revised the server an the only thing I see is connecting dropped. When I went to see ASA log and see this log report: ESMTP Classification: Dropped connection for ESMTP Request from 'interface': servername/portnumber to outside: IP address/25; matched Class 2: cmd RCPT count gt 100 tcp flow from interface:servername/portnumber to outside: IP address/25 terminated by inspection engine, reason - inspector disconnected, dropped packet. So I think there should be an inspection of ESMTP packets and if they detect an email message sent to over 100 addresses, then the packet is dropped, am I right? if so, what should I do to let those email messages be sent?

I have another Ethernet switch on the system as well but it is a Gigabit unmanaged switch from D-Link and has worked well with video streams. I've removed the DES 105 from the circuit and videos play fine. Should I dump to DES-105 for another Gigabit switch? SOme say I have a bad cable somewhere but I have tested all and have not found a problem.

It is running in AP mode to supply connectivity to a number of laptops + a 2nd DAP-1522 in bridge mode. The laptops are able to get IPv6 router advertisements from the same wired network the DAP-1522 is plugged into, but they get nothing when connection to the wireless. My main pc is hard wired directly to the router and works perfectly as always. 3 wireless pc's and 3 handheld devices suddenly can't connect. I've powered down my modem and router for several minutes, but nothing changed. The firmware was upgraded a long time ago and there are no other upgrades available.

I've been running this configuration for years so the only thing that has changed is the router.The neworkd is up and all wireless clients can connect, but after some time, access to the mail server just 'freezes'. I say freezes as the nework icon (i'm using ubuntu' still show a connection. In addtion, there are not error in any of the logs. I just seems that the mail server and the router just stopped communication.

Occassionally, we have dropped connections, on both G and N cards.The router is connected to a corei3-2100 cpu with 6 gb ram and a 1tb hd, running win7 64bit. Ive bought home plugs for my wife's computer(in the house)and.an outdoor wireless antenna (a CCRANE super usb wifi antenna) for my computer in the garage. I still get dropped signals in the garage, which is only about 50 ft from the router. My computer in the garage is an AMD dualcore 4400 with 4 gb ram, and multiple hdds.What else can I do to get a better and more constant connection.

The solution works quite well but exactly every 120 minutes the connection drops and people have to reconnect. Is there any setting to change? In the PPTP server I haven't found any setting to change.
I just installed a E4200, and found that once I connected my Homeplug Powerline to E4200, the connected (wired / wireless) computer (with E4200) connection will be dropped. The connection become normal again once I disconnected the Homeplug with E4200.

I used to have a D-Link router which broke down so I purchased a new router which is a Linksys E2500. I changed the configuration on my laptop to use WPA instead of WEP. My router is configured with fixed channels (not auto). My internet connection is continuously being dropped and I have to re-logon to everything (very annoying with vpn tunnels). All my other desktops/laptops in the house work without problems.

This router worked fine until I updated the firmware downloaded from the TP-Link site. I have V1 hardware which is what the firmware was created for. Since the update the wifi continually kicks outs quite often rendering this router useless.
I got several issues with the E4200.First of all, my connection speed dropped from 2megs/sec to 100k/sec with that router. Flashing it with the lastest firmware worked but still, I don't get all my speed as I has with my WPG54GS (with DD-WRT).Second, speed is really unstable, like if it was working by burst of data.Third, I got a gigabit port on my computer, plugged in the router and still, I can't make more than 10megs/sec WIRED (!) between my computers. I desactivate the ipv6 from my network card but still, no luck.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've bought a "WAG160N v1.0 Annex A" almost 2 years ago. I never used it's wireless feature untill we moved our house. Now it's like 4 month I'm using its wifi feature and I've got to admit I'm really frustrated by its functionality!
For months the modem just dropped wireless connection constantly in various time periods. Somtimes it went like 2 days without any problem but some other times I had to change channel every 15 minutes for it to get back working. And yes it didn't get fix until I changed the channel, otherwise clients had to wait several hours for a 50/50 chance of reconnection. Now It's two days the changing channel trick no longer works. I tried all channels and even put my notebook next to the modem but no luck. The notebook sometimes connnects to the access point but disconnects after a few seconds. Somtimes it doesnt even detect the SSID of my WAG160N modem. Some friends suggested that the wireless hardware of my modem is broken and no longer works but I'm eager to know if it is broken why is it still broadcasting and sending signal.
I've tried everything from upgrading and downgrading firmware to turning on and off the modem several times and changes modem position. And even tried the G-only 20MHz mode.We are at a very crowdy place. Using inSSIDer I could pick about 15 other access points.
