D-Link DIR-615 :: Connecting AppleTV To Wireless Properly?
Mar 18, 2012When I connect my AppleTV to the wireless my AppleTV doesn't see any of the home sharing shares. When I connect it to wired it works fine. What am I missing?
View 7 RepliesWhen I connect my AppleTV to the wireless my AppleTV doesn't see any of the home sharing shares. When I connect it to wired it works fine. What am I missing?
View 7 RepliesMy problem is two-fold:
1. the DAP-1522 will not connect to the 5GHz network of the DIR-815. Although, this doesn't surprise me as none of my 5GHz-capable devices see it, other than intermittently and at low signal. It is most likely an issue with the 815's 5GHz radio/network.
2. OTOH, the 1522 does appear to connect to the 815's 2.4GHz network just fine. However, there is no Internet access for any of the devices connected to the 1522's ports.
I know the 1522 can work correctly on 2.4GHz, as it previously did fine with my prior 2Wire router from AT&T. (I've just switched to Comcast, using the DIR-815 connected to their SMC modem.)
Also, I know the router and modem work fine (at least with 2.4GHz), as all of my wireless devices connect easily and with screaming bandwidth to the router and Internet.
If you can't home share on iTunes between Computers or AppleTV, try turning multicast on
1) login to router
2) Go to Advanced tab
3) Select Advanced Networking on Left hand column
4) Select checkbox to enable multicast streams
5) Save the changes
In order to get all my machines working, I also had to enable multicast streams on my network extender as well. The IP address for the network extender is 192.168.0.50 or type in DLINKAP in the URL bar and follow the relevant instructions for your model number.
Please note if you use a software firewall on your PC or Mac, you may need to also free up TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. However there are plenty of support articles at Apple / Norton / Microsoft / etc... on how to do this for your relevant firewall..
For awhile now I've been having an issue with my laptop connecting to the Internet. What happens is that when I power up my laptop and login, it doesn't connect to the Internet immediately. I have it set to automatically connect to the Internet. My wireless connection does appear when I click on the lower right icon that shows the wireless connection list of wireless networks near you.The only way that it will connect properly to the Internet is when I unplug my wireless router for 15 to 30 seconds and then plug the power back in to go through the process. Once I check the wireless icon, it finally does connect to the Internet. I hate having to keep on doing this because usually I have to go down steps in order to get to the router. Yet, when I connect to the Internet with my other laptop, it connects immediately to the Internet without having to do anything with the router. It puzzles me to why this is happening.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhat seems to be a common issue/query regarding getting AppleTV to work via the Wireless Lan Controller. We are running WCS 7.0.172.0, our WISM controllers are on software version 7.0.116.0 and our APs are a mixture of 1140 and 1142s with both 11a/n and 11b/g enabled.
What we are finding is that we are able to stream to the AppleTV box when connected to the LAN and both devices are on the same subnet.however, as soon as we go onto the WLAN ( both devices on the same subnet ) , the end device can no longer see the AppleTV box to stream too.

I have an EA6500 and have three AppleTV... all three generations.l I also have a DirecTV Genie and DirecTV HD-DVR that, together, provide whole-house viewing. When I first setup the EA6400 based network, all three AppleTVs were listed and my whole-house viewing worked. This past Saturday, however, that changed, when I couldn't see the programs recorded on the HD-DVR, from the Genie. My troubleshooting determined one of the AppleTVs had been assigned the same address as the HD-DVR upstairs and that the HD-DVR wasn't listed as being connected. Once I reset everything, the IPs resolved and the whole-house viewing was resolved, however, none of the AppleTVs are listed as connected, even though they are. I can check the connections by the AppleTV device and see that they do, indeed, have an IP address, and I can view material from the iTunes cloud or stored on another PC in the local network. I reset everything again, but to no avail. No AppleTV devies show as connected from Smart Wi-Fi. The AppeTVs are all wired to the LAN... not wireless.
So, the question is, is there a fix to get AppleTV devices to list? All of my devices and router have the lastest firmware. BTW, I had a WRT610N, which I'm now useing as an access point, didn't have this issue.

I am doing port forwarding for 2 webservers i have IP Address is 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.4 Both have web apps running find within LAN, both run on port 80.Error code: 14004.
I bought a TP-Link TL-WR841N which i have managed to setup up properly, i am able to connect to the wireless and get internet access. However the minute i walk out of the room or a few meters away i am disconnected and i can't re-connect, i get the "windows cannot connect to TP-LINK" message. The signal strength in on excellent and i know it works because when i stand near it, it works perfect.I phoned TP-LINK technical support who were pretty useless and couldn't fix the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got the DIR-835 today and have been spending hours trying to get it to work right. Everything works well except I cannot for the life of me get this router to let me stream youtube properly anymore.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I have a DIR-825, I got from a family member as they didn't need it anymore. (Don't know if its under any warranty at all) I have a few different problems with it:
1. It doesn't install correctly. I insert the disc, the "Checking adapter enabled" finishes quickly and easy. Then the "Checking network status..." goes for about 30 seconds - 1 minutes and then I get the "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly." It gives the Follow these steps message of checking connections/resetting/etc, which I have done multiple times without success.
2. Despite the failed install, I DO get an internet connection. It starts to get weird though. I have 3 different connections currently connected to it with the following properties:
Modem>Computer (Wired) - 16 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Computer (Wired) - 3 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Laptop (Wireless) - <1 MB/Second
Modem>Router>iPhone (Wireless) - 13 MB/Second
I've tried looking through the options on my router but nothing looks like it will work .
I can't get my VOIP ATA (linksys SPA-2102) to work properly with the shiny new DIR-835. I updated the firmware to 1.02 and messed around with various settings but it just won't work. Well, I can get registered and everything looks ok but, when I receive a call, the person at the other end can't hear me. I can hear them fine, but they can't hear me. I don't have any problem when I call someone. Still, it is frustrating. The problem persist even though I put the ATA in the DMZ.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dlink DCS-942Ls had been updated to the latest firmware both 1.12.1608WW and 1.12.1628EU. (I grouped them into two firmware devices). They are all H/W version A1, agent version 2.0.15-b11. If I setup time to automatic time configuration and sync with NTP servers ( all from drop down list and Thailand NTP server time1.nimt.or.th) , they did not work and I must set time manually every times I power off and on these IP cameras. I knew that this issues has been raised for long times and still exist in the current firmware.Simple way to eliminate this problem is specifying NTP server into IP number. ping your national NTP server URL and then get the IP address , e.g. time1.nimt.or.th has IP 203.185.69.60 , or ntp1.dlink.com has IP 61.67.210.241. I have tested many ways and the results can be comfirmed that URL NTP letter cannot sync time but IP number can do. I also has a DAP-1360 Repeater mode and test with its "System Check" ping test, the result are success either URL NTP server name and IP number. NTP protocol is different to ping test. I'm not sure that which parties (ISP, DNS, Router, IP camera device) should fix this error. I decided to specify NTP server with IP number to all network devices from D-Link. Minor risk may occur if a national NTP server change its IP number.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm connecting to the internet via ADSL. The modem is in our living room and has a DIR-655 connected to it. Also connected are an IPTV set-top box and an Xbox 360. In our office room we have 2 computers and a Buffalo LinkStation hard drive connected by wire to a DAP-1522 which is working as a bridge for the wireless network created by the DIR-655. The reason for this configuration is that the set-top box refused to work with IPTV through the wireless bridge. Before we got IPTV, the bridge was in the living room and was primarily used for Xbox, while the modem was in the office and allowed all desktop PCs to connect by wire.
Ever since we've had the desktop PCs connected via the bridge, surfing has been difficult. Download speeds are good, but very often webpages simply refuse to load. The browser just says "Connecting to [internet address here]. For example, I might log on to Facebook, have the front page load and then I try to open a picture someone has uploaded, but nothing happens. Clicking links, nothing happens. Clicking anywhere, nothing happens. Put a new address in the address bar, nothing happens. It just tries to connect the addresses, but won't.After waiting a while, or restarting the browser, it might work again for a while.
Is it my new modem, the DIR-655 or the DAP-1522? All devices get their IPs from the ADSL modem to ensure proper networking between the devices. Streaming from the NAS to the Xbox is flawless.
I have a DIR-655 (RevA) which I have been very happy with when used with a broadband wireless ISP. We just recently obtained Frontier DSL and I want to use my already configured DIR-655 with the new service. I have successfully bridged the Westell 7500 DSL modem provided by Frontier (DHCP server turned off, mode set to bridge-bridge.) I tested this by attaching a laptop and verifying that it was assigned a WAN IP address and that I could ping resources on the Internet.
When I attach the DLink and start it up, it gets a WAN address and everything looks good, but I can not ping (from the router) to any resource on the Internet (by IP address), including the assigned gateway. It goes without saying that computers attached to the DIR-655 are also unable to ping addresses on the Internet. Oh, I have cloned the Westell modem's MAC address to the DLink router as well.
Any special settings in the DIR-655 that are required to work with Frontier/Verizon's DSL network? Or compatibility issues? and I've updated to the 1.35NA firmware.
Trying to set up a simple schedule for keeping the kids from staying up all night. I'd had this working on a Linksys WRT54G till it bit the dust. I just want it to block internet after midnight. My problem is that the schedule is triggering the block unpredictably.?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe current setup we have contains two seperate networks, each managed by their own Cisco RV042 (10/100 4-Port VPN Router), and each have their own connection to a Comcast Business Class SMC Modem. (Each has its own static WAN IP provided by Comcast). Both VPN routers have VPN access configured allowing us to connect to our company's corporate intranet and network, and vice versa. Just as a reference point, We will call the first VPN 'GamesNetwork' and the other one 'AdminNetwork'. A problem came up where the computers on AdminNetwork could not access the resources of the GamesNetwork. The problem was resolved by our at-the-time official corporate IT guy but the solution was never explained to me. Recently i got curious and went into the config pages and found that each VPN router was linked to the other the same way corporate links to our VPN's, whch is by using the Internet IP of that vpn... So to me this says we are linking two local vpn networks using their internet connection which is on the same modem.. to me this seems messed up. is this really the way it needs to be done? Now... I have thought of the idea 'make the two networks into 1..' and it could work. but.. i dont have the permission to make this happen.
if you have two vpn routers side by side in the same room, is there a more local means of giving 1 vpn access to the resources of the other and vice versa?
I am trying to get neighbour wireless router working. He has a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router. I have gotten the router working by manually putting in his PPPoE settings. Now with a wired XP SP3 computer connected via Ethernet, it can access the internet. We then configured his router for WPA2 with AES encryption. We were able to connect up his phone which can handle a WiFi connection. He was able to surf the web using the WPA2 passphrase. So far, so good. The last bit was the upstairs computer which has a PCI D-Link wireless N card in it. That computer runs XP SP2 and we have not been able to get it to connect to the internet. We have tried both Windows networking, and the D-Link Wireless management software. We were unable to get WPA2 working, so we tried WPA, WEP, and finally no security. In each case, we can get the computer to connect to the router by putting in the passphrase (except when no security), and the status changes to Connected. But then browsers are not able to open any internet site.
I have checked the ipconfig settings, they seem to be correct. DHCP is providing the computer with a valid local IP (192.168.0.102), and the gateway is correctly listing the D-Link router.Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. The downstairs Ethernet connected computer has an IP of 192.168.0.100, so they are on the same subnet. We have tried turning "Windows Wireless Zero Configuration" service off, and also tried with it on.We have switched between using the D-Link client and allowing Windows to manage wireless settings. It finds the wireless network, and connects with the passphrase with a good strong signal, but internet persists in not working.I do not have MAC Filtering turned on.I have turned off the Windows Firewall on the wireless computer. What else am I missing?
How do i stop a Wireless device from connecting to the router? i attempted to find an answer myself and failed

I own a TL-WR1043ND. Until recently it has been working like clock work but after a power cut it seems to have lost its settings. Currently there is a WiFi network: both my iMac and my MacBook Pro manage to create a network between them and i can access / transfer files from one to the other without any problems what so ever. My Gmail app on my iPhone also updates emails on this same network. But when i try to browse the web on both Safari or Firefox or check my email on Mail (OSX email client) I am not being allowed to do so. Its as though there is not internet connection. The same thing is happening to my wife when she is using her Nexus 7.
Unfortunately i have lost my DVD with the setup files and I am there for not managing to access the settings of the router. I have tried searching the web to find the downloadable software but it turns out the only ones that i found are for Windows only. The only way to access the web and update my emails etc is when i connect to the modem via Ethernet cable.

I m using TD-W8951ND wifi router with MTNL connection. The LAN connection with PC works just fine but i m not able to connect my iphone or ipad with the router. I have reset the router many times and also retored my iphone but still no luck. Pl tell me what are the settings needed for wifi connections.. Currently i have set the wireless mode to 802.11 b+g+n. Setting it to just 802.11 b sometimes connects with the iphone but never with ipad.
I am having issues figuring out how i can make AppleTV,Airprint, Airplay, etc show up on Ipads that are connected to the wireless network. The controller is at a main site which is seperated by 2800 series routers at the remote sites over 100Mbs links. Ipads connect and tunnell back to the main site. I've tried enabling FlexConnect but the devices still get the main site's addressing so i'm guessing they are still tunneling unless the AP loses connectivity to the controller. I have two SSIDs (staff and students). I have tested with just setting the staff to FlexConnect. Do I need to set both SSIDs to FlexConnect to make them dump data locally? AppleTVs are connected wired to the local networks and get addressing associated with that building.

I am trying to work out how I can use the WR702 to connect to a Hotel's wireless connection. As with most modern hotel setups, the hotel requires the user to access a web browser and enter the room number and select a purchase plan.I believe there must be a way that I can connect the WR702 to the hotel's network and then use a browser on a linked (wireless or ethernet) laptop to launch the browser and log in, however, I have tried every default configuration on the WR702 and cannot find a solution.
Setup:
WR702 router
HP EliteBook 8440p laptop (ethernet and wifi available)
Hotel wifi (multiple identical SSIDs in the survey but shows as a single wifi name on my iPhone)
