D-Link DIR-655 :: Connecting A Network Attached Storage Drive?

Dec 10, 2011

I recently purchased a NAS enclosure to use my WD IDE hard drive as a networked drive.  I configured the hard drive's jumper setting as single (no jumper).  I installed the hard drive in the enclosure and connected the Cat 5e cable to the back of the DIR-655 router.  When I tried mapping to the drive, I receive the error:

\STORAGE-3B25 is not accessible.  You might not have permission to use this network resource.  Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.  Network error (1208).

I suspect perhaps that I might need to change a setting on my router to allow me to access the NAS.  The NAS ip address is visible on the router's admin page and I am able to see it when searching for network drives in my laptop.  But I just somehow can't connect to it.  I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.

Run Server Off Network - Hard Drive Attached To Router?

Mar 27, 2011

I want to know if it is possible, and how is so, to run a server OS or any hosting software from a hard drive that is networked and attached to my router and not to a computer? I currently have a mixed home network of OSes, Mac OS X SL, 2 Windows 7 machines, and various tablets and smartphones. I have a 2TB hard drive attached to an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (current generation.) The main thing I want the server for is to host for media, iTunes. The Home Sharing function is kosher for in home network use, but I would like to be able to access my media on from outside as well. Optimally I would love to have OS X server on just the drive

Belkin Play N600 Exposing USB Hard Drive Attached To Router Within Sub-network

Aug 30, 2012

I recently purchased the Belkin PLAY N600 router to create a private network for my home theatre setup.I have a primary home network 192.168.0.x (NetGear) which I use for all my computing needs. I extended a network cable to my Home theatre area and plugged in the N600 router. After this, I attached a USB external hard drive to the router and it works great. I can see it from the 192.168.2.x home theatre network (Belkin).I would like to expose the USB hard drive hooked to the Belkin Router to my primary network so that I can copy over my music and pictures without having to physically move the hard driveonto a PC connected to the primary domain.The Belkin router has a DMZ function which exposes an IP on its internal (192.168.2.x)network to the external (192.168.0.103) network.Is it feasible to expose the USB drive to my primary home network?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Streaming Media From Attached USB Storage

Jan 9, 2011

I am very pleased with my purchase of the E3000 so far. However, one function seems to allude me. One of the main reasons for purchasing this router was because of its Media Server functionality. I wanted to be able to stream to my UPnP devices (ps3, xbox360, etc) without having to keep my power hog of a PC running. I have set up the HD using the Storage tab of the Advanced Router Settings, and created several Shares on the Media Server tab. The good news is that I am able to access the share on my PS3. The bad news is that I can't on my Xbox360s. As the Xbox360s has built in wireless N, I would really like to be able to stream to that system.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Folder Ownership On WRT610N USB Storage Drive?

Mar 10, 2011

I'm trying to share all of my Itunes media (music, movies, apps, etc.) between three PC's.  I have created a share of the entire hard drive which I have mapped on all three computers.  Basic connectivity seems to be working fine.  From each computer, I am able to read and write to the disk.  In Itunes however, I created a library including everything I want to share, but Itunes is unable to save the library.When I check security options on the hard drive, I see that it is owned by an unknown user and I am unable to change ownership of the drive. The owner is listed as "Account Unknown S-1-5-21 plus a long string of numbers) I think that if I can take ownership of the drive, I can get iTunes to save the library. how I can change the account ownership of the storage drive? Trying to change ownership properties, I get an access denied message.When the drive is connected to a PC via USB, I am able to change its ownership, but it reverts back to the Account Unknown owner when connected to the router. All three computers are running Windows 7 64bit.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WRD3600 USB Storage Not Accessible?

Region : Australia
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP :

I'm having difficullty configuring a USB hard drive to my WDR3600

The WRD3600 is acting as a switch with my netgear cable modem router as the DHCP server. The DHCP server on the WRD3600 is turned off. the WRD3600 is accessible on my home network and I can connect to attached wifi and Ethernet devices.

when I attach my WD USB hard drive, I can see the device on the WDR3600 web GUI USB settings page. The WD hard drive service status is started and enabled. when I click on the open the disk link, nothing happens. When I try to access the 192.168.x.x/volume1 address, I get a page that says the username or password is incorrect.

When I disconnect the WDR3600 from the rest of my network and turn the DHCP server back on and connect directly to the router, i am able to access the connected usb hard drive.

is it possible to have the WDR3600 acting as a switch with DHCP server off and still access usb devices connected to it?

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: TL-WDR3600 USB Storage Write Speed Low

I have portable hard disk connected to one of the TL-WDR3600 router usb ports (another one has printer connected to it)

Write speed is about 3Mbytes/sec maximum.Real disk write speed is about 35-38Mbytes/sec - if I connect it to one of the PC USB ports (both router and PC ports are USB 2.0)Why write speed via router is so low?

My PC is connected to router via cable and is running Windows 7 32bit Ultimate SP1, hard disk partition is 465Gb NTFS single volume.I'm measuring speed simply by coping 1.4Gb file through Windows Explorer to \tplinklogin.net (following USB storage access instructions from router control panel) in first case and directly to hard disk - in second case.
