Daisy Chained Routers - XBOX 360 And PC
Jul 12, 2011
I have a question regarding two daisy chained routers. In the downstairs of my house we have our main internet connection that is hooked up to a router (router A). We also have an Xbox 360 hooked up to router A. Upstairs we have another router (router B) which is connected to router A. Connected to router B is a PC and another Xbox 360. Currently the downstairs Xbox cannot see the upstairs Xbox or PC. We used to have a network admin guy living in our house and the whole operation ran smoothly, however those days are long gone...

I have my main router hooked into a second router (main router LAN port to second routers WAN port). I have my NAS hooked into the second router via ethernet. Internet connections work well on both and I can see all devices that reside on the same LAN that Im connected to. How I can get devices on the main router to be able to see the NAS. Is there any way for devices that are connected to my main router to be able to see the NAS given that the NAS is hooked into the second router?

I'm attempting to connect multiple computers, laptops and printers to the same LAN. I currently have the switch daisy chained to the modem. I'm having issues with conflicting IP addresses and wireless access. I think I have to create static IP addresses but don't know which nor how.The hardware I'm seeking to have on one LAN:
- Netgear CGD24G Cable Modem from Time Warner
- Netgear GS116E un-managed switch
- iMac OSX 10.8.x
- Dell PC desktop, Windows 7
- Sony Vaio PC desktop, Windows XP
- Dell PC desktop, Windows XP
- Sony Vaio laptop, Windows 7 Pro
- MacAir OSX 10.8.x
- MacBook Pro OSX (not sure which OS version)
- HP JetDirect 300x Print Serve (hooked up to HP LaserJet 2300)
- Epson Artisan 835
- Netgear Universal Adapter for Home Entertainment (SAVB5004)
- Netgear Powerline 500 Nano
- Apple iPhones (4 of these)
- Apple iPad
Several of these can work wirelessly, though I prefer wired whenever possible.I have been getting IP address conflict notices as well as the wireless signal not being received on some of the wireless capable devices, which seems to be random but it could be that I just don't know enough to recognize a pattern. I believe the devices are all set to automatic assignment of IP addresses. What is the correct way to daisy chain the cable modem and switch? What is the correct protocol for assignment of IP addresses in order to avoid IP conflict? Why does my wireless drop on some of the wireless-capable devices (such as the iMac, MacAir or Sony laptop)?

I have got 3 wifi routers i want to daisy chain. Router 1 is main modem router, which is connected to 2 pcs and 2 wif routers (wired separately), both of these wifi routers have there own ip address and dchp turned off, so they work fine and broadcast wifi nicely. now what i want to do is connect another wifi router to one of these routers (not the main one) but what setting do i need? i tried to connect the 3rd wifi router with the same setting as per the other two ie diff ip and dchp off, but when i plugged it into the port of the second router it would not show as connected or get an internet connection. Its probably quite simple to sort out, but with me being a dimwit i am tering my air out. If i could not use a wifi router for this 3rd connection, is there any other way of putting an extra 4 ports on to my second stage router.

Is it possible to daisy chain 3 switches and not have ip conflict? I am running a public access network for a library. For certain library software I need for all workstations to see each other. I have 25 workstations in total and two separate management consoles. I have all workstations on two switches but one of the management consoles is on the third switch because when joined with the others it has an ip conflict. I need this console for the digital sender that is connected as well as to act as a server for go print software.

I'm trying to create a VPN through a Cisco 861 but the problem is that the ISP forces me to use a SpeedTouch gateway ( as they use the MAC address for the authentication).By now, i'm getting OK pinging from client to 192.168.254.1, but I can't reach Internet. If I connect the client directly to the Speedtouch internet works properly. I'm trying to install a webauth certificate -- it works fine when unchained, however once I add the additional information the installation fails. I am using the same root and intermediate certificate information as last year, and it worked fine then. I can recreate last year's pem file with the chained information and it installs fine, so it's only when I include the new device certificate information that it fails. The certificate installs fine when it's not chained, I'm not receiving any openssl errors, and I'm not using openssl 1.0.

I have an upstairs office where my desktop pc is located. This pc is connected to the internet via a Linksys Router in my bedroom...
My XBox is downstairs and connected wirelessly to a Belkin Router downstairs. The Belkin Router is then connected to my Linksys Router to access the internet.
I can access XBox Live and the internet through both the XBox and my pc BUT the XBox doesn't see the computer on the network.. so I'm unable to stream files from my pc to the Xbox.
I'm attempting to stream movies from TVersity to my XBox but my XBox can't see my pc..

I recently changed from an SMC Barricade N to a Belkin Share N300 wireless router and my xbox 360 can no longer recognize my pc over the network. The xbox is connected to the router physically and the pc is connected wirelessly. Both the pc and the xbox can access the internet. This problem did not exist when I was using the old router. Media sharing on my pc is configured exactly as it was before I changed routers.

So got an Xbox 360 slim and if I try to connect to route with WPA2 if fails. If I change to WPA or set up a second SSID with WPA it connects and works fine.If I connect Xbox to another router with WPA2 it works fine.Same results picking AES or TKIP for security type. The xbox is used in a break room and really don't like the fact that I need to have another ssid and it be less secure, esp as WPA2 has been out long enough this shouldn't be an issue. I test 4 other routers and WPA2 and xbox all work fine but not this one but this is the one I have to use due to feature needs.

How to set this new router up correctly in a way that they can get open nat with one Xbox on the network?I have tried to setup the router so that I port forward the following ports:
UDP/TCP | 3074
TCP | 80
TCP | 88
UDP/TCP | 53
The xbox is setup with a static ip address:
IP | 10.141.167.50
Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.128
Gateway | 10.141.167.1
In addition to simple port forwarding, I setup access rules in the firewall with any source to go to the 10.141.167.50 single ip destination. I have also tried with port forwarding off, but upnp on, and the ports setup specifically in that screen for this xbox. Finally, I disabled the port forwardingin the upnp, as well as the port forwarding screen and simply setup port triggering, while leaving the upnp service enabled. After all of that, the xbox would not get open nat. It doesn't make any sense to me that this doesn't work. I even tried turning off all port forwding and triggering and putting the xbox in as the dmz host. No dice. I'm honestly thinking now that there is a problem in the firmware or something that requires some special workarounds. I'm on the new firmware (i.e. 4.1.0.2) and at the end of my rope.

Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

I have a new Cisco 2960 S series switch with a basic configuration that needs to be uplinked or daisy chained to a Cisco 3750 switch. I am not getting any connectivity to the network with either a straight through or crossover cable. the port remains in amber but a 'show interface' indicates that the interface is up. I can manage the switch with a PC patched into any port on the switch with a static IP address. Must be something very simple that I am missing. Outlined below is the configuration.

There is about 5 devices in my house that uses the same network. Two of them are Xbox's (One uses wireless, other uses wired). I've tried many times to open the NAT for the 2 Xbox's, but have never succeeded.I've read that enabling UPnP, will fix the problem; however I have tried that, and it does not work. If I want to open the NAT for just one Xbox, it will let me - I just port forwarded the required ports for the one Xbox. In my case, this isn't want I want.

I just bought a new television so thought I would finally be able to get to play xbox live in a television away from the router! But of course like always there is is problems....
I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.
However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!
I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.
My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.

My modem is D-LINK WBR-2310. I am trying to set up a static IP for my Xbox 360, but am unable to. I have tried assigning it IPs from inside/outside my DHCP range, and nothing works. Every time I assign it a new IP, I forward the port in my router. My modem is an Embarg EQ-660R, and is bridged. My 360 is set up wired directly to my router (the only wired item I have). Every time I test the connection after forwarding the port, it (my 360) errors out at the first step of connecting to "network". I've searched the interweb to no avail trying to find an answer to this problem. I'm putting the IP address of the IP I choose in the port forwarding rules, this is correct, yes? General port forwarding question: What port are you supposed to choose for different games, say Battlefield 3, that I play on my PC? Is the port I choose in my router settings supposed to always be the IPv4 address within IPconfig?
