View 10 RepliesI have a cisco router and a motorola router. I recently decided to run a 50ft cable across my house and put the motorola one on the end of it to extend my wifi since its weak at the other side of the house. So the setup is like this, Cable modem plugged into cisco, 50 foot cable plugged into numbered port on cisco. 50 foot cable also plugged into number port on the motorola. I have set the motorola to a static IP and disabled dhcp on the motorola.
The problem im running into now is nothing works while connected to either router unless i manually set the IP address. I run a PS3 Media Server which is the reason i disabled DHCP on the 2nd router since it seems to have to be in the same ip range to see my PC thats plugged directly into the cisco router.
I have a question regarding two daisy chained routers. In the downstairs of my house we have our main internet connection that is hooked up to a router (router A). We also have an Xbox 360 hooked up to router A. Upstairs we have another router (router B) which is connected to router A. Connected to router B is a PC and another Xbox 360. Currently the downstairs Xbox cannot see the upstairs Xbox or PC. We used to have a network admin guy living in our house and the whole operation ran smoothly, however those days are long gone...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have got 3 wifi routers i want to daisy chain. Router 1 is main modem router, which is connected to 2 pcs and 2 wif routers (wired separately), both of these wifi routers have there own ip address and dchp turned off, so they work fine and broadcast wifi nicely. now what i want to do is connect another wifi router to one of these routers (not the main one) but what setting do i need? i tried to connect the 3rd wifi router with the same setting as per the other two ie diff ip and dchp off, but when i plugged it into the port of the second router it would not show as connected or get an internet connection. Its probably quite simple to sort out, but with me being a dimwit i am tering my air out. If i could not use a wifi router for this 3rd connection, is there any other way of putting an extra 4 ports on to my second stage router.

Is it possible to daisy chain 3 switches and not have ip conflict? I am running a public access network for a library. For certain library software I need for all workstations to see each other. I have 25 workstations in total and two separate management consoles. I have all workstations on two switches but one of the management consoles is on the third switch because when joined with the others it has an ip conflict. I need this console for the digital sender that is connected as well as to act as a server for go print software.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've tried to piece this together with SSL Remote Access VPNS, Understanding PKI and the Cisco's ASA 5500 Series Chapter 73 Configuring Digital Certificates. Below is a basic config I use to create the CA and ID certs on ASAs. I use the ASA as the CA server. When I export the SSL trust point it doesn't show chaining from the CA. Since there is no chaining when I load the CA certificate in the Root Store I still an SSL Certificate error. Instead I have to load the SSL Trustpoint Certificate.
CREATE CA
crypto ca server
smtp from-address admin@Cisco.local
lifetime ca 3650
lifetime certificate 3650
lifetime crl 24
[code]....
I originally thought it was a problem with enrollment self in the trustpoint, but I cannot figure out the steps to complete enrollment terminal. I got to the steps of crypto ca enroll Identity_Certificate and displayed the certificate request. At that point the sh crypto ca trustpoint Identity_Certificate is pending enrollment. I can not find the command for the CA that allows trustpoint enrollment. If I try to crypto ca export Identity_Cetificate identity-certificateit says trustpoint not enrolled. Of course if I take the enrollment request and attempt to crypto ca import Identity_Certificate certificate it fails because it's not the cert.

The wife’s laptop and the Wii console connect to the router wirelessly. I also connect a few PC directly to the router via Cat5 cables which runs through most rooms in the house. Since the router is down in the basement in my control panel along side the cable modem and what not. This causes the wireless single to be pretty weak in certain parts of the house. What I was planning on doing is taking the D-link router connecting it to the wall jack upstairs to the internet port on the router. Then setting both routers to static and changing the Belkin router to DHCP?

If I then click to continue w/o the logon and password, it then gives me an error when it is trying to add the d-link. I have tried everything. My Westell IP is 192.168.1.1. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a house with two flours and all rooms have an ethernet port. The first flour has a main router which all rooms connect to (via wires) and this router dials to the internet. This router is also responsible for DHCP etc, and its a D-Link 6740VN.The other flour has the following setup: Wall-> Cross Cable -> D-link 2760U Router -> PC.My goal is to have two routers that broadcast wireless access. So when I'm on the first flour I'm connected to the main router, and when I move around the house with my phone I want to pick up the second router automatically.I've tried all sorts of combinations and settings and can't get it to work.
1. Tried setting different SSIDs, channels etc but the phone won't switch routers because the range is overlapping.
2. Tried setting the same SSID, channel, security, etc... also no luck. The phone only sees one AP but I don't see improved signal as I move around.
3. I don't want to use wireless bridging because a) It's slow and b) I have the wires in the walls and it feels like a wast.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to connect multiple computers, laptops and printers to the same LAN. I currently have the switch daisy chained to the modem. I'm having issues with conflicting IP addresses and wireless access. I think I have to create static IP addresses but don't know which nor how.The hardware I'm seeking to have on one LAN:
- Netgear CGD24G Cable Modem from Time Warner
- Netgear GS116E un-managed switch
- iMac OSX 10.8.x
- Dell PC desktop, Windows 7
- Sony Vaio PC desktop, Windows XP
- Dell PC desktop, Windows XP
- Sony Vaio laptop, Windows 7 Pro
- MacAir OSX 10.8.x
- MacBook Pro OSX (not sure which OS version)
- HP JetDirect 300x Print Serve (hooked up to HP LaserJet 2300)
- Epson Artisan 835
- Netgear Universal Adapter for Home Entertainment (SAVB5004)
- Netgear Powerline 500 Nano
- Apple iPhones (4 of these)
- Apple iPad
Several of these can work wirelessly, though I prefer wired whenever possible.I have been getting IP address conflict notices as well as the wireless signal not being received on some of the wireless capable devices, which seems to be random but it could be that I just don't know enough to recognize a pattern. I believe the devices are all set to automatic assignment of IP addresses. What is the correct way to daisy chain the cable modem and switch? What is the correct protocol for assignment of IP addresses in order to avoid IP conflict? Why does my wireless drop on some of the wireless-capable devices (such as the iMac, MacAir or Sony laptop)?
